Background / History

Mo Li was born in Hebei and orphaned when his parents died in a car accident when he was four. Raised in an orphanage, he was cared for by its director and staff, though he struggled academically and did not enter high school after junior high. He later changed his name to Mo Li, meaning “do not leave,” in remembrance of his parents and as a promise that he would not abandon the orphanage that raised him. 3 708

He enlisted in the military and served as a border guard on the Sino-Indian frontier. The army changed his previously undisciplined attitude: he pursued training, earned two third-class merits and one second-class merit, and developed the responsibility and resilience that define him. 3

After retiring, Mo Li remained in the snowy region rather than returning home. He joined the Motuo County People's Police, later becoming a captain after leading an operation against poachers hunting Bengal tigers and antelopes. He valued Motuo’s peace and saw the “Lotus Land” as the place where he wanted to live. 3

A severe injury sustained while arresting poachers left him hospitalized and at risk of paralysis. During his recovery, intern nurse Lunzhu Mei Duo confessed to him directly; despite his initial indifference to romance, they became a couple. 3
