Saving People (Part 2)

Seeing the blood flowing from the girl's fingers was so thick, the bearded man nervously asked Wei Dengke, "What's going on? Why is the Princess's blood like this?"

"Like I said, these spiral worms secrete a special irritating liquid that accelerates blood flow. But this liquid does more than just speed up blood flow; it also makes the blood thicker. If not dealt with quickly, the infected person will not only experience heart overload but also develop blood clots due to the increased blood viscosity." Wei Dengke, holding the military knife, moved behind the girl and used the tip of the knife to make a few small incisions on her back, drawing out more blood.

The overly viscous blood also flowed faster. No one present was foolish; even Mo Li, who wasn't highly educated, realized the severity of the situation. If they didn't act quickly, it wouldn't just be the heart that suffered damage; the blood vessels throughout the girl's entire body would be greatly harmed.

At this moment, the bearded man's forehead was covered in cold sweat. He was the bodyguard responsible for protecting the Princess. If anything happened to her here, he would undoubtedly be held accountable. According to the laws of her country, he would surely be sentenced to death.

"I beg you, save her! You must save her!" The bearded man had lost his previous assertiveness, his tone now filled with pleading.

Wei Dengke glanced at the bearded man and then nodded, saying, "Don't worry. Our mission this time is to rescue the Princess. If something happens to her, it will be difficult for us to explain to our superiors."

"Didn't you say this bug hadn't undergone much testing? Do you have a way?" Mo Li asked curiously from the side.

"Not undergoing much testing doesn't mean it hasn't been tested at all. I once read a research paper on this type of worm. The paper stated that these worms prefer acidic environments and are extremely intolerant of alkaline environments. If we can make the girl's internal environment alkaline, we should be able to kill these worms," Wei Dengke said with a very serious expression.

"What you're saying is useless! How are you going to make her body alkaline?" Zhong Lichun said from the side, pouting. She looked at Wei Dengke as if he were an idiot.

"I always tell you to read more, but you never listen. Calling you brainless with big breasts would be a compliment," Wei Dengke said, lifting his eyes with his hand and then sneering at Zhong Lichun.

Daring not to mock Zhong Lichun further, Wei Dengke pointed at the vomit the girl had expelled earlier and said, "These worms can survive for a long time in normal environments, but these ones she just vomited died very quickly. I analyzed that the soil here has a strong alkalinity, which is why these worms couldn't survive."

"You're not going to make her eat dirt, are you?" Mo Li's eyes widened when he heard Wei Dengke's words, and he asked with an extremely strange expression.

"Eating dirt is unlikely, but I can use the properties of this soil to make some alkaline water, and having her drink this alkaline water should be very effective," Wei Dengke explained.

After taking the metal spheres apart, Wei Dengke began assembling the components. In just a few minutes, a uniquely shaped electric stove appeared.

After assembling the electric stove, Wei Dengke looked at the bearded man and asked, "You should have a kettle, right? Let me use it."

The bearded man nodded at Wei Dengke's words, then took off his backpack and pulled out a not-too-large kettle.

Taking the kettle, Wei Dengke scooped a large handful of soil into it. He then stood up and walked to the mountain wall. Wei Dengke had noticed a small spring there since he woke up. It was likely that the bearded man and the girl had been drinking this water to survive.

After collecting some water, Wei Dengke placed the kettle on the electric stove and flipped the switch. While the water was heating, Wei Dengke took down a few more metal spheres and started fiddling with them.

"...Zhong Lichun, those spheres Wei Dengke has can be assembled? But how did he know what we'd need for this trip and prepare it in advance?" Mo Li turned and whispered to Zhong Lichun.

"Although that guy is a bookworm, his mind is very agile. This is a set of all-purpose assembly tools he developed himself. Although there are only over twenty spherical components, these spheres can be assembled into more than a hundred common tools. He even received an award from the higher-ups for it. He's only good at researching these clever little gadgets, what's so great about that?" Zhong Lichun said sarcastically, crossing her arms.
