Chapter 21: But You Can't Even Beat Me
Xing Tian was frustrated.
Very frustrated.
What kind of logic was this? Why did being Xing Tian mean he had to be able to beat him?
And what did he mean by "how are you so weak"? Clearly, it was this guy who was freakishly strong!
He could sense only Golden Immortal early stage, yet his physical body was even more monstrous than a Great Wu's. Was he the one from the Wu Clan, or was Xing Tian?
Weak?
Normally, any Golden Immortal who came his way, he could tear apart with his bare hands! Even Golden Immortals who had grasped laws weren't beyond his ability to shred—at most, it was a bit harder.
But here was the problem. Xing Tian was starting to get tangled up.
If I'm this strong, how come I can't beat him?
Still, tangled or not, Xing Tian wasn't about to admit he was weak.
"Put your hand on your conscience," he said. "Where am I weak?"
"But you can't even beat me," Shen Gui replied.
Xing Tian's words caught in his throat, but he couldn't help retorting, "Ordinary Golden Immortals aren't even a match for a single blow from me, alright? Even Golden Immortals who've grasped laws might not be my equal!"
"But you can't even beat me."
Xing Tian was choked up.
He pointed at the corpse of the Giant Beast. "See that big guy? It was only at True Immortal peak, but it was a Great Desolation Exotic Species. Ordinary Golden Immortals couldn't do a thing to it. Yet just now, I killed it with three punches!"
Shen Gui was equally helpless. "But you can't even beat me."
Xing Tian's face was covered in black lines.
Now he was starting to doubt himself.
I'm this strong, and I really can't beat this guy?
"How about... we try another fight?" Xing Tian said cautiously.
Shen Gui was a bit puzzled too. "Then let's try again?"
And so, a few more hilltops nearby disappeared.
Half a day later, Xing Tian lay on the ground, staring at Shen Gui's increasingly suspicious gaze, his face a picture of utter despair.
Great God Pangu, Ancestral Wu Houtu, can anyone tell me why I can't beat this guy in front of me!
Seeing Xing Tian's genuine, defeated look, Shen Gui was starting to believe his words. "Are you really Xing Tian?"
Hearing this, Xing Tian gave Shen Gui a weak, sidelong glare. "Why would I lie to you?"
Seeing this, Shen Gui fell into thought.
So, I'm stronger than Xing Tian?
Putting aside saints—beings at the very top of the Great Desolation—Xing Tian might not be in the first tier of combat power, but he was definitely at the peak of the second tier.
So that means... I'm pretty strong?
"Hey." Watching Shen Gui standing there, lost in thought again, Xing Tian couldn't help speaking up from where he lay on the ground. "I told you my name, but I still don't know yours."
"Shen Gui," Shen Gui answered instinctively.
"Shen Gui?" Xing Tian muttered it a few times, then suddenly said, "By the way, your physical body is this strong, and your defense is so tough even I can't break it. Your true form isn't a turtle, is it?"
Instantly, Shen Gui's face darkened. "Do you want another fight?"
"No, no," Xing Tian waved his hands repeatedly.
Sure, the Wu Clan loved battle, but one-sided beatings weren't fun.
What? It wasn't one-sided?
You hit someone and they don't feel it, while they can still hit you—what else would you call that?
He patted the dust off his clothes and stood up. "Brother Shen Gui, as they say, 'no fight, no friendship.' Now that we know each other, and I see you've got nothing going on, how about coming over to our tribe for a visit?"
Shen Gui looked at him suspiciously. "You're not just saying that because you can't beat me and want someone else to settle the score, are you?"
Xing Tian's face darkened.
Can we please stop bringing up how I can't beat you?
Sure, I really can't beat you, but do we have to keep mentioning it?
Besides, if even I can't beat you, who in the tribe besides the Ancestral Wu could? And if we actually had to get an Ancestral Wu involved—you might not be embarrassed, but we sure would.
Shaking his head helplessly, Xing Tian said, "Of course not. I just think Brother Shen Gui has such a strong body, speaks directly without any roundabout nonsense, and you suit my temperament. So I wanted to invite you to sit a while at the tribe."
"I see." Shen Gui nodded. "Alright then. I don't have much to do lately anyway. But your tribe isn't far from here, is it?"
"Not far. Originally, we were all in Mount Buzhou, but as our numbers grew, most of the twelve tribes moved out. Our Houtu Tribe is just ahead. Otherwise, I wouldn't have come here to hunt."
As he spoke, Xing Tian walked back, hoisted the Giant Beast's corpse onto his shoulder, and strode forward.
Seeing this, Shen Gui followed along.
The Houtu Tribe?
He still had a few years to spare, so there was no harm in going to take a look.
Generally speaking, the Wu Clan didn't have methods of travel like ordinary cultivators, who could ride clouds or the like, but surprisingly, even when running across the ground, the Wu Clan wasn't slow at all.
However, Shen Gui felt that he couldn't keep up on foot alone.
So, in the end, Xing Tian ran on the ground while Shen Gui followed by riding a cloud.
With their speed, it wasn't long before a tribe came into view before the two of them.
