Shen Gui possesses memories from a past life and is unusually resistant to Heart Demons. When memories triggered by dried meat briefly produce a Heart Demon, he suppresses it through his innate resilience, merit, Destiny, and the Heaven and Earth Mysterious Yellow Pagoda. His physical body is so formidable that Xing Tian considers it stronger than that of a Great Wu despite Shen Gui’s lower cultivation at the time. 24

He initially operates as Nuwa’s trusted subordinate or assistant rather than a conventional vassal. He accepts her assignments, seeks intelligence by contacting opponents of the Demon Country, and later forms his own circle of followers around Yao Yue, Shang Yang, and Ci Tie. 47 57 98 123

During the conflict with the Demon Country, Shen Gui reveals the extraordinary defensive strength he had previously concealed. As a late-stage Grand Unity Golden Immortal, he holds off an early Quasi-Saint clone of Eastern Emperor Tai Yi long enough for Yao Yue, Shang Yang, and Ci Tie to escape. 120 123

Shen Gui eventually becomes the Heavenly Emperor.
