Background / History

Kakashi became the Jonin instructor assigned to Naruto Uzumaki, Uchiha Satsuki, and Sakura Haruno after their graduation. He arrived late to their first meeting, gave an intentionally uninformative introduction, and arranged a survival exercise for the following morning. 128 129

His bell test was designed to measure whether the three Genin would prioritize one another over rules and individual success. After Naruto, Satsuki, and Sakura shared food despite being forbidden to do so, Kakashi passed all three and formally created Team 7. 133 135 136 138

During the Land of Waves mission, Kakashi recognized that Naruto and Satsuki were far beyond ordinary Genin and trusted them to train independently while he taught Sakura Chakra control.
