I Will Not Trust the Uchiha
Outside the Root Base.
Hearing footsteps behind him, Danzo turned to look at Shisui. He seemed to have been waiting for some time. "Shisui, you finally came. I thought you wouldn't."
Unable to read Danzo's intentions, Shisui lowered his head and said, "Lord Danzo, did you call for me because of the coup? I'm about to attend the clan meeting."
Danzo asked, "To use your dojutsu to control Fugaku Uchiha and prevent the coup?"
Shisui glanced at Danzo and nodded. "As long as Captain Fugaku is controlled, the Uchiha will abandon the idea of launching a coup. It's the best way I can think of to stop it."
Danzo sneered inwardly at this and bluntly questioned him.
"Controlling Fugaku Uchiha can indeed delay the Uchiha rebellion, but it is only a delay. As time passes, there will still be Uchiha unwilling to accept the status quo, and they will launch a rebellion against the village."
Shisui frowned. "I believe that under the Hokage's leadership, the clan can change and eventually become one with the village. Lord Danzo, you are being overly suspicious."
"Suspicious?" Danzo snorted. "I do consider more than the Third Hokage and the others. They always place their hopes for peace on others, while I take the initiative to create peace for the village."
Pretending not to hear Danzo's assessment of the other higher-ups, Shisui said impatiently, "If that is all you wanted to say, Lord Danzo, please allow me to leave. I still have to stop the clan's coup."
Danzo stepped in front of Shisui, his tone low and ominous. "You always hope for the Uchiha to integrate into the village, but have you ever considered that people like me will never trust the Uchiha?"
Shisui's expression turned somewhat ugly, but he could not be disrespectful to Danzo. He left with a cold face.
At that moment, Danzo suddenly sprang into action, reaching for Shisui's eyes. His target was clearly the Mangekyō Sharingan.
Shisui, who had long been prepared, glanced at Danzo and directly subdued him with genjutsu.
Looking at Danzo under the genjutsu's control, Shisui sighed softly. "Lord Danzo, I know you want to stop me, but no one can stop me from protecting the village and the Uchiha."
"But rest assured, this is only an ordinary genjutsu. I will not kill you and create new hatred."
With that, Shisui left the Root Base, preparing to return and take part in the Uchiha clan meeting.
Suddenly, Danzo, who had been held in place by the genjutsu, vanished. He used the Body Flicker Technique to appear before Shisui and, with lightning speed, struck him hard and tore away his right eye.
Once he reacted, Shisui quickly opened the distance, clutching his bleeding wound as he stared at Danzo in shock.
He had guessed that Danzo would make a move, but he could not understand how Danzo had broken free from the Sharingan's genjutsu. Genjutsu was his specialty.
Danzo removed his eyepatch. When Shisui saw the Three-Tomoe Sharingan that had lost its dojutsu power, he understood everything.
Danzo had used the Izanagi Technique, rewriting the reality in which he had been controlled by Shisui's genjutsu. But when had Danzo acquired a Sharingan and learned Izanagi?
Could it be that Danzo had secretly collected Uchiha Sharingan?
The more Shisui thought about it, the more frightened he became, his heart filled with wariness toward Danzo.
After succeeding, Danzo did not attack again. Instead, he stared expressionlessly at Shisui and said with a dark face, "Give up struggling, Shisui. Hand over the other Mangekyō Sharingan. I will make those eyes realize their value."
Upon hearing this, Shisui completely abandoned all illusions. Forming hand seals, he shouted, "Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!"
Just as the Fire Release blast shot into the air and began to take shape, a group of Root Ninja leaped out and joined forces to use Water Release.
Seeing this, Shisui realized that Danzo's preparations were even more extensive than he had imagined. He hurriedly used the steam generated by the high heat to activate the Body Flicker Technique and escape.
With both eyes intact, he might have been able to fight Root. But with one eye missing, he could not possibly be their match.
If Danzo obtained both Mangekyō Sharingan, then not only he himself, but also the clan and the Hokage would be threatened. He had to escape.
Watching Shisui's retreating back, Danzo's expression darkened.
Although he had already rated Shisui's strength as highly as possible, Shisui had still escaped despite being surrounded by him and Root. Shisui was even stronger than he had imagined.
Should he pursue him or not? Danzo hesitated, ultimately sending only Root after him.
If Root failed, he would lose at most one Mangekyō Sharingan. If he pursued Shisui himself, he would have to risk being controlled by Kotoamatsukami.
In the forest, the fleeing Shisui was soon caught up to by the Root Ninja.
Facing these elite shinobi, Shisui gradually fell into a disadvantage. Just as he was about to be struck by ninjutsu, he forcibly activated the technique, Susanoo.
After consuming more than half the Chakra in his body, a half-bodied emerald-green Susanoo appeared over the forest.
After blocking all the attacks and driving back every pursuing Root Ninja, Shisui disregarded the Chakra consumption and forcibly unleashed Susanoo: Ninety-Nine.
As arrows of Chakra gathered one after another, Shisui opened Susanoo.
Countless Chakra arrows fell around them like rain. Wherever they landed, whether trees, rocks, or flesh, they were pierced through and riddled with holes.
Using his Sharingan to survey the area and confirm that no Root survivors remained nearby,
Shisui dispelled Susanoo while panting heavily, then struggled toward the depths of the forest. At that moment, both his stamina and Chakra were nearly exhausted, and he could barely keep himself running.
After finding a safe place, Shisui began examining his injuries and analyzing the situation.
His injuries would take at least a month to heal. He could no longer stop the clan from launching the coup, and going to the Uchiha Clan Compound in his current state would only make the clan even more determined to revolt, producing the exact opposite effect.
But if he stood by and did nothing, then if the clan truly clashed with the higher-ups, both sides would only suffer devastating losses.
After pondering for a moment, Shisui made his decision. After simply bandaging his wound, he headed for the cliff where he often met Itachi.
While he could not stop the coup while alive, that might not be true if he were dead.
Losing him, the clan's strongest fighting force, would also deal a blow to the clan members' morale and fervor. But before he died, he had to entrust his remaining eye and his ideals to his closest friend.
With that in mind, Shisui began writing a suicide note. After finishing it, he put it away and tucked it into the inner layer of his clothing.
Just as Shisui prepared to leave, he spotted a figure standing with his back to him atop a large tree ahead. The figure looked back at him, then raised a hand to signal for him to follow.
Who was that? Shisui narrowed his eyes, but he quickly dismissed his doubts.
The other person's jumping and movement techniques were identical to those of his closest friend. It had to be Itachi, and he had also arranged to meet Itachi.
