The Ill-Intentioned Parties
"For the sake of survival."
Sally froze after hearing the Adventurer's Guild worker's words. She remembered the war she had seen before, where every monster had seemed to go mad, launching one suicidal attack after another. Even when their bodies had been torn apart until only their heads remained, they still tried to kill the enemies before them.
Yet the monsters that had fought so desperately to survive had died just like that. What a waste.
"Who knows? They're only monsters, after all. It's better if they all die."
Across from her, the Adventurer's Guild worker smiled at Sally, who was muttering to herself, then lowered his head and started working on his own. Just as he had said, to humans, the only good monster was a dead monster. As for why those monsters had launched suicidal attacks, who would care?
Would anyone really give their own food to monsters after learning that the monsters were short on provisions? No. People would only wish for those monsters to starve to death.
"All right, here's the scouting assignment you accepted, adventurer."
At that moment, the Adventurer's Guild worker across from her handed Sally a mission sheet. It marked the location Sally needed to scout and the reward.
"Thank you."
Sally took the mission sheet casually, glanced at it, then left the Adventurer's Guild and headed straight for the city exit. She walked in silence the entire way. When she reached the city gate, she handed the mission sheet to the soldier guarding it. After the soldier confirmed everything was in order, she walked straight out.
"Sally, are you sad for those monsters?"
On the dirt road covered in dust and broken stones, Lu Minghao reached out and gently stroked Sally's hair, looking at her after she had fallen
