Chapter 7: Those Who Entrusted Their Lives to Each Other

In the dark, damp, and narrow sewer, the Big Goblin's enraged roars echoed, its bone club whistling as it swung forward. The iron shield was already visibly deformed under the relentless assault.

Bang!

The next second, the Big Goblin's skin turned blood-red, veins bulging on its arms. The bone club, leaving a trail of afterimages, smashed directly onto the round shield. The sudden, powerful attack sent the shield flying from Tuka's grasp, and his body involuntarily staggered backward.

"Vile human, die!"

Seeing that the human's turtle shell was finally shattered, the Big Goblin sneered, gripping its bone club with both hands and raising it high. A bloodthirsty, savage red light flared in its eyes. It couldn't wait to see this human who had ambushed it crushed into a pulp, flesh and blood flying.

"Captain!"

Keith and Nina were startled by the Big Goblin's sudden outburst. Seeing their captain fall and the Big Goblin grinning as it raised its bone club, they quickly rushed forward, trying to save Tuka.

"Die, human!"

With a sinister laugh, the Big Goblin unleashed its full strength at the two rushing to its rescue. The white bone club sliced through the air with a ghastly howl, aiming for Tuka's head.

"Heh!"

Mid-air, Tuka chuckled as he saw the bone club hurtling towards him. There was no fear or panic on his face; he looked at the Big Goblin as if it were already a corpse.

Splat!

The moment Tuka's body landed in the viscous, black, foul-smelling sludge, a figure burst from the shadows. A short sword in its left hand lightly deflected the bone club's trajectory. Then, with a slight lift of its right hand, it pierced the Big Goblin's heart.

Boom!

The next second, a massive roar erupted. The white bone club struck beside Tuka, and the splashing mud coated everyone present. A pungent stench filled the air, making one want to vomit.

However, none of them could bother with such trivial matters. Keith and Nina, who had been rushing towards Tuka, stood frozen. They stared at their captain lying in the mud and at Gordon, enveloped in a black robe, with his arm extended towards Tuka. Behind them, the Big Goblin's body crashed heavily to the ground.

"Cough, cough! I almost lost my life. I owe you one again."

Tuka grabbed Gordon's outstretched hand, using it to pull himself up. He clutched his chest and coughed a few times. Then, he looked at his deformed shield lying nearby and the fallen Big Goblin, shaking his head with a wry smile at Gordon.

According to his original plan, he had coated the trap with poison. Although goblins living in sewers for years had developed some resistance, it would only slow down the poison's effect.

Furthermore, while the poison took effect, it would weaken the Big Goblin's physical condition. With his iron shield, he could have easily held out until the poison fully took effect and killed it.

The problem was that while the plan was perfect, he hadn't anticipated the Big Goblin having a berserk skill. Most likely, upon realizing it had been poisoned and knowing it would die, the Big Goblin had activated its berserk state, intending to kill him before its demise.

If it had succeeded in killing him, the remaining goblins might have given the rest of the party considerable trouble without their captain's command and front-line protection.

Unfortunately, the Big Goblin's final attack was detected by Gordon, who had been lurking in the shadows, ready to ambush. Gordon rushed out to save Tuka and, while the Big Goblin was exposed after its full-power attack, pierced its heart.

"You're at it again. Don't forget, we're already partners who have entrusted our lives to each other!"

Gordon patted Tuka's shoulder. As teammates, they had long entrusted their lives to each other. Just as Captain Tuka trusted his teammates, completely entrusting his back and his life to them, they would not betray his trust.

Swish!

"Ah!"

"Hey, hey! Captain, Brother Gordon, this isn't the place for you two to deepen your bond."

Just then, an arrow flew over Tuka and Gordon's heads. A goblin attempting to sneak attack them from behind let out a scream and fell into the sewer sludge. On the other side, Nina, pouting, lowered her bow and arrow, glaring at the two and scolding them.

However, despite her words, a smile couldn't be hidden on Nina's lips.

"Hahaha! You've angered our Nina. But you're right, this isn't a good place!"

Tuka, looking at Nina glaring at him, turned to Gordon and they shared a smile. They picked up their respective weapons and looked at the remaining seven or eight goblins behind them. The seven or eight goblins, who had been terrified into paralysis by the Big Goblin's death, saw the killing intent in the eyes of the four humans opposite them.

Without hesitation, they dropped their weapons and turned to flee. The two goblins closest to Tuka and his party even began attacking their own kind who were blocking their path, just to run faster.

"Charge! After this mission, I'll treat everyone to a big meal!"

Tuka laughed heartily, looking at the fleeing goblins. He raised his longsword and gave chase, not even bothering with the shield that had fallen by his feet.

"Captain's treating, yay!"

"But Captain, aren't you afraid your wife will find out and not let you in the house?"

Behind them, Nina cheered upon hearing the captain's invitation. She raised her bow and fired an arrow at the goblins ahead. Keith, carrying his sword, caught up to Tuka, decapitated a goblin with a swing, and then, provocatively, asked Tuka.

"You brat, how could I be afraid of my wife? Also, you're not getting any tonight!"

Tuka, who had been laughing heartily, twitched at Keith's words. He turned and glared fiercely at Keith, claiming he wasn't afraid of his wife while simultaneously stating Keith wouldn't be included in the treat.

"Why is it like this!"

Amidst Keith's pathetic complaints and the laughter of the others, they followed the passage into the former goblin camp, pursuing the fleeing goblins. A few minutes after they left, a round slime quietly appeared from the shadows in a corner.

"Is this the adventurer of this world?"

Lu Minghao observed from the shadows. When the adventurers were still fighting the Big Goblin, Lu Minghao had already used his new skill to sneak here. However, upon discovering the Big Goblin and the fighting adventurers, Lu Minghao chose to observe from hiding. Only after they left and he confirmed it was temporarily safe did he dare to appear.
