Chapter Five: Who Is Mei...?
Relying on the company's reputation.
The convoy transporting supplies to Buli City had never encountered attacks from the Local Army or Rebel Army.
Because they had the company backing them, they believed both sides were exercising restraint and would not cause trouble for the convoy. Thus, most of the transportation work was handed to volunteers who had received little training and merely wished to contribute, but were unwilling to join either side.
They were caught completely off guard.
They were attacked as soon as they arrived, and after seeing their own people suffer heavy losses, Kiana couldn't stand by any longer.
She nimbly dodged the attacks, reached a corpse, picked up the pistol on the ground, and launched an assault toward the source of the gunfire.
It was clearly her first time using a gun.
Yet not one of her bullets missed. Every shot struck an enemy with pinpoint accuracy.
Was it an instinct left behind by her body?
Forget it. She could think about that after knocking all these people down. There was no time to dwell on it now.
There were two company employees in the convoy. Their uniforms offered powerful bulletproof protection. Once they recovered, they immediately began fighting back, shouting something as they did.
Unfortunately, the opposing firepower grew even heavier.
Several uninjured volunteers did the same. They all found cover and began firing back.
It was at this moment that a heavenly voice rose amid the flames of war. The song carried the singer's sincere feelings and brought new strength to everyone.
Kiana glanced back.
The singer was none other than The Nightingale. She was crouched beside an injured person who had been shot, a hint of sorrow on her face.
