"They're breaking in!"
"They're breaking in!"
The solemn and dignified Paladins of the Church had finally defeated the National Defense Army, creating an opening and entering the city.
The entire kingdom's army was collapsing like a mountain. The Church's knightly forces quickly led their followers to occupy the entire Royal City.
"To the Tower of Babel! The Great Emperor of Atabia is there! Go hang him!"
The Cardinal shouted.
They quickly arrived at the massive Tower of Babel. The twenty-sixth floor had just been completed. The Great Emperor sat at the top of the tower, looking down at the Paladins preparing to ascend the Tower of Babel.
The Emperor of Atabia's voice was calm, and he looked down at them with a gaze that was both pitying and sorrowful. "I always feel like, not long ago, an Outer God brought us the third extinction of civilization."
"Absurd!"
A Paladin roared in anger and said:
"Because of believers, God decided to try to forgive the people on earth. After the Great Flood destroyed the world, and after the Purple Heavens destroyed the world, there have been no more destructions of people on earth. We have been living in peace ever since! Where is there a third one?"
"Some people are alive, but they are already dead."
The Emperor of Atabia looked down at the rebellious officials and traitors before him and simply said, "This extinction is special. It doesn't destroy our bodies, but our will."
"You should be aware that seventy percent of life is eliminated in every extinction. What you may not know is that seventy percent of the people following the Church now are also gone."
Everyone was shocked. This number was too coincidental. Didn't this imply that they were already among the seventy percent who were "spiritually dead"?
"Faith gives us something to rely on!"
From below, a Cardinal suddenly became furious, pointing at the tyrant in the sky. "Sinner, you are deceiving people! You—"
Splat.
The next moment.
The Tower of Babel seemed to come alive, like a special life form. A giant, curved rib bone extended from a window on the first floor, smashing the Cardinal to death.
"What?"
All the Paladins looked horrified.
Was this Tower of Babel not a building, but a giant exoskeleton creature?
"You really are a bunch of trash, to be so easily deceived." The Great Emperor of Atabia lowered his head. This saint of civilization seemed to be muttering to himself:
"I've been thinking lately, constantly thinking, that this extinction is terrifying. It far surpasses the previous two destructions because it destroys hearts, not flesh and blood."
"I witnessed the world being submerged during the Great Flood with my own eyes."
"I also watched their wails and decay under the purple light, powerless. But the suffering and death from the first two times were far from the most painful."
He said expressionlessly, suddenly speaking:
"Because at this very moment, the third time is the most tragic era."
"This third extinction, He wants me to personally kill you all, to kill seventy percent of the current Atabian population."
His gaze suddenly swept into the distance, as if he could see the Gods beyond the world, in the sky above. Their gaze was cold, treating all beings as chess pieces, not only killing the spirit of the common people but also crushing his fighting spirit.
The Great Emperor of Atabia suddenly laughed. "The Outer Gods in the sky are malicious. This is a vicious curse from them to me, a mere human emperor on earth, turning me into a true tyrant, forcing me to kill seventy percent of my own people in mutual slaughter. This is a punishment for the Atabians, and also the destiny planned by the Gods for me, a mortal emperor who dared to defy them."
Everyone trembled. Were the Gods truly so malicious? Had they long prepared a future for the Atabians, causing this rebellious race to begin slaughtering each other? Even having their own people surround and attack him, their King? To forever nail him, the mortal leader who resisted the Gods, to the pillar of shame and curse him?
"Tyrant, stop trying to deceive us!" A devout knight stepped forward and shouted.
"You want to kill the entire civilization? How vast is our seventy percent of the populace? You are abandoned by everyone and are not our God, how could you possess such world-ending power?"
These fanatical believers were high-ranking officials and were already unmoved.
"Yes, yes, there's no reasoning with you anymore..." The Great Emperor of Atabia said softly on the Tower of Babel, gripping the armrests of his imperial throne.
"Then, there's no need to say anything further." He sat on his throne and suddenly smiled slightly, as if operating something on a control panel.
Crack.
Crack.
From the windows of the sky-piercing tower, giant muscular roots extended like tentacles, smashing all the Cardinals and Paladins who had surrounded them, like an octopus flailing its limbs. Blood gradually seeped into the ground.
"Let's begin!"
After clearing out the surrounding Church forces, the Great Emperor of Atabia said, "Everyone, there's no need to be sad. Flesh and blood build civilization. The Church is not our enemy either; our enemy is in the higher heavens."
"Begin the God-slaying plan!"
"Declare war on the Outer Gods!"
"Seconded!"
Shaking off despair and struggle, from within the Tower of Babel, resolute voices were heard again.
The many wise men on the twenty-six floors of the tower moved swiftly, each attending to their duties, activating this massive life project.
Crack!
The towering body of the Tower of Babel, soaring into the clouds, suddenly moved.
With the spine as its core.
Ribs appeared on the tower windows.
A skull appeared at the tower's summit.
A pelvis appeared below the tower.
A majestic, vast skeleton giant was slowly being born, like a time-lapse of a pig fed hormones, growing wildly over twenty days.
Boom!
The earth began to tremble.
The entire undersea kingdom city beneath Atabia collapsed rapidly, like a stack of building blocks casually put together.
"What is that??"
The Holy See's Imperial Guard in the city, still clearing out remnants, suddenly looked up in a daze: "A physique comparable to a Giant God!"
"No, it's not comparable, it is another God!!!" someone shouted.
The Tower of Babel stood up, its giant bones being covered by initial meridians, its massive flesh and blood churning rapidly. Its terrifying, sky-covering size pressed down on everyone, making it hard to breathe.
Crack!
The earth shook violently.
This was a mythical giant, wreathed in clouds, strong and enormous, being born!
The twenty-sixth floor of the white, sky-piercing Tower of Babel was humanity's twenty-six thoracic vertebrae!
Everyone stared blankly at the sky, at the Tower of Babel, a realization dawning in their hearts:
"So, the Tower of Babel is the creation of all people on earth working together, enough to make the Gods both surprised and enraged, because the Tower of Babel is a true staircase leading to the realm of the Gods."
In the distance.
The Pope, who had been prepared long ago, had not entered the Royal City.
But he witnessed this unbelievable scene from his command post outside the city, letting out a roar of shock and anger: "Emperor of Atabia! That madman, that insane engineer!! How dare he blaspheme against the Gods! Civilization has only developed for a few days, and he's already trying to become... a God himself!"
"Impossible!"
"Unforgivable!"
"As expected, a tyrant with immense ambition! This madman! He will surely destroy us all! The Gods will be utterly enraged with the entire land, bringing about the final Judgment Day!"
Angry voices followed one after another.
The entire Church's Knight Order on the continent was stunned.
Looking up at the sky, everyone felt an unspeakable heaviness and shock in their hearts.
The Tower of Babel.
This would be more mythical than all myths, more legendary than all epic sagas, a miracle formed by the convergence of countless destinies and coincidences.
Above the clouds.
The Great Emperor of Atabia sat on his skull throne, looking down at the surging seawater below, seemingly in a good mood, chanting:
"Mass extinction is indeed a grand romance, allowing the tides of life to surge wave after wave, letting life shatter nature's pride and injustice."
The skull palace, like a heavenly realm, he sat high above the misty clouds, on a divine throne within the neural center. He extended his arm and slowly clenched the void towards the Crystal Wall, a grin spreading across his face:
"Kingdoms surge like tides."
"The waves of single-celled organisms rushing ashore have not yet returned to oblivion before they become the Tower of Babel standing tall on the ground, shaping a body that roars at the heavens."
Endless white light enveloped everything.
This was an emperor who ruled the entire world, embodying the highest wisdom of the entire civilization. His body was transparent, and the gene chains within him emitted a faint silver light.
"Begin attempting to mobilize the musculature."
Crack!
The giant's body swayed, and it slowly raised its head. The massive skeletal frame, not yet covered in flesh and blood, shakily stood up.
This moment would be etched into all of history.
Like the first ape-man born in human history, standing on a massive rock and letting out a silent roar!
On the plum blossom mark between the giant's brows, a man the size of an ant, controlling the giant from his plum blossom throne, slowly stood up. The saint of this civilization looked out at the colossal Outer God beyond the Crystal Wall.
The Emperor spread his arms, as if embracing the entire world, and smiled: "The enemy has never been the people of Atabia. The war of everything against everything begins today."
"The true enemy is you, Outer God."
In the ancient era, a great emperor rallied the people of the land to build the Tower of Babel, and his god-slaying war had begun.
