Chen Tao was actually facing a choice.

For example, he had no evidence proving Barbatos was right.

Nor did his suspicions have any real basis.

Barbatos had been controlled → the World Forger, who was currently manipulating someone else's body, could not be resisted → Chen Tao could not resist him either → go to the Prime Universe for reinforcements.

It was a perfectly clear chain of logic. What was there to doubt?

What reason was there?

Was he suspicious because "the solution to this predicament is too obvious, so something must be wrong"?

But what good would suspicion do?

Things did not work by simply slapping your forehead and saying, I suspect I shouldn't do this, then changing the plan you had prepared beforehand—even your ultimate backup plan.

Any change to a plan required careful consideration of the chain reactions and consequences it would bring.

Without the Prime Universe Justice League's heavenly reinforcements, who would deal with the now-mad Barbatos?

It certainly would not be Batman's parents.

And what about the World Forger? What was he going to do? Who could stop him? Who could rescue Parallax Hal from his hands?

These were all problems. Chen Tao did not merely not want to do it—factually speaking, he could not. He had truly run out of options.

Unless he used even more violent methods, but he seriously doubted whether the already battered Over-Time Stream could withstand them.
