"I knew this would be the result."
Future Batman Terry's expression was indifferent.
"What a pity," he said. Thomas had already begun regretting that he had been too hasty and rejected the other party outright to his face.
The situation was stronger than the man. He should have put on a false front and humored the other party.
But he... he was simply too tired.
For Thomas, it had only been a short while, yet his work had changed from hunting supervillains between skyscrapers to fighting alongside The Flash to reboot the timeline, and then to this.
He had gone through a distant adventure and thought he had already reached the end of his destiny.
But now, this brand-new reality told him that everything he had done had been nothing but futile.
Perhaps this was Batman's destiny, or perhaps it was a curse.
Thomas realized in an instant that he had lost control of his emotions, but it was too late to recover the situation now.
So he merely softened his voice slightly. "I absolutely cannot allow my son to die. You want my help? Bring my son back to life."
Deep down, he did not actually believe the other party could accomplish that. Thomas's understanding of spacetime was extremely limited, and most of his information came from what The Flash Barry had told him during Flashpoint.
His understanding of all this had far too many limitations.
"I can." Then Thomas heard the other party speak.
He said nothing. He was not someone who would believe a person after hearing only a few words.
"I know you don't believe me, but it doesn't matter." He heard Future Batman Terry say, "Crime Alley will happen regardless. It cannot be avoided."
He did not explain to Thomas why it had to happen.
