Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Knight Attendant, Levels 7–9 | 5 | Preparatory stage: physical cultivators choose and open one of six Inner Mansions, laying the foundation for a future Professional Core. |
| Initial Professional Rank / One-Star | 5 9 | Reached by condensing the first Professional Core. The first core and its location determine the practitioner’s broad professional direction. |
| Additional Stars | 10 14 | Each newly condensed core reinforces prior cores and grants abilities associated with its Inner Mansion or Star Palace. |
| Six-Star / peak Professional Rank | 18 | All six Inner Mansions or six Star Palaces are opened and condensed into cores, culminating in core sublimation. |
Attainment and Structure
Class Change
Professional Rank is attained when a cultivator condenses a Professional Core, marking a fundamental transformation beyond the Knight Attendant stage. For physical cultivators, Levels 7–9 are used to prepare a chosen Inner Mansion; undergoing Professional Baptism before reaching the peak of Level 9 is possible but has a poor success rate. 5
Humanity developed its core-condensation method by learning primitive Elf Magic and using alchemical methods to assimilate Magic Beast crystal cores. 2 Humans therefore generally rely on external resources to enter the rank, unlike some non-human races that can condense cores naturally. 49 176
Core Paths
| Cultivation Path | Core Location | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Physical professions | Six Inner Mansions / inner organs | The first chosen Inner Mansion shapes the class path; later cores strengthen earlier ones. 5 9 |
| Mage professions | Six mental Star Palaces | Star Palace cores form the foundation of magic-oriented professions. 5 |
| Special professions | Both Inner Mansions and Star Palaces | Combine martial and magical methods, trading specialization for versatility. 5 14 |
The order in which cores are condensed is crucial: every later core enhances the previous ones, so the first core receives the greatest long-term attribute benefit. 9
Abilities and Privileges
Professional Core
A Professional Core continuously stimulates its holder’s body, greatly improving strength, reactions, and other physical attributes. The attribute connected to the first core receives the strongest enhancement. 9 30
- New cores grant abilities linked to their corresponding Inner Mansion or Star Palace. 10
- Core sequence determines both profession and long-term combat emphasis. 5 9
- Professionals can use Class Skills—combat techniques intended to finish opponents of the same rank. 68
Burning Core
Professionals can burn their cores to temporarily fight above their normal level, making even stronger opponents wary of forcing them into desperation. 5
- A Two-Star Professional burning their core can threaten ordinary Three-Star opponents. 38
- A Six-Star expert’s Burning Core strike can reach Professional Rank-level power. 161
- Burning a core requires resolve; many fallen Professionals die before they can use it. 30
Essence Preservation
Near death, a Professional can seal their essence, energy, and spirit into their Professional Core, freezing their body to prolong their existence and preserve a final deterrent strike. 5
Lifespan
Breaking through to Professional Rank can double a practitioner’s remaining lifespan, unlike Knight Attendant cultivation, which often causes lasting bodily damage without extending life. 5
Professional Paths
| Profession / Path | Defining Core or Trait | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ranger | Perception Inner Mansion first | Perception is the hallmark of the Ranger path; it enhances perception most strongly while also improving overall physical attributes. 9 |
| Guardian | Defensive bloodline and physical cores | Luo Luoji’s Skin of Steel bloodline complements his Guardian profession. 9 |
| Warrior | Physical combat specialization | Ye Man is identified as a Three-Star Warrior. 14 |
| Paladin | Physical cores plus Light Star Palace | A special dual-cultivation profession combining knightly abilities with blessings, auras, and Light magic. 14 |
| Barrier Master | Perception Inner Mansion and Earth Star Palace | A composite special profession requiring both physical and magical development. 5 |
Societal Standing
Professional Rank experts are a privileged class in Stanrosai City and beyond. Their rarity makes them central to major families, guilds, mercenary groups, academies, and temples. 5 36
- The Kende Family, one of Stanrosai City’s three leading powers, possesses only seven Professional Rank experts. 3
- A Professional’s public testimony carries significant authority; mercenaries readily believed Xuan Ye’s accusation after he displayed Professional Rank strength. 38
- Even a Professional Rank expert leading a scavenger squad is considered unusually notable because of the rank’s status. 10
- Professional Rank combat is regarded as decisively beyond Knight Attendant combat, though sufficiently numerous Advanced Attendants may threaten a Professional under favorable conditions. 11
Limitations
- Human practitioners require external materials, rituals, or refined resources to form Professional Cores. 2 176
- Core formation is dangerous and resource-intensive; even major families prize Professional Baptism Potions. 3
- Newly advanced Professionals may have unstable realms and lack the experience needed to confront higher-Star opponents. 29 30
- At equal rank, humans may be disadvantaged against non-human races that naturally condense cores and awaken multiple bloodline talents more easily. 49
