After freeing Ren Woxing and surviving the Fuzhou ambush, he returned to Mount Hua with the complete Nine Yin Manual and prepared for his meeting with Zhu Houzhao.

Arc 1The Rise of Ji Shu

Ji Shu joined Mount Hua Sect and rapidly mastered its sword arts, earning the trust of Yue Lingshan and Ning Zhongze. After saving Mount Hua from an attack by rival sects, he became its Vice Sect Leader and discovered a hidden cave containing Five Peaks Swordplay.

  • Ji Shu entered The Smiling, Proud Wanderer, gained Peak Comprehension and Inner Strength Talents, and joined Mount Hua Sect as Yue Lingshan’s disciple.
  • Ji Shu rapidly mastered Mount Hua’s sword arts, while Yue Lingshan and Ning Zhongze discovered the extent of his talent and taught him more techniques.
  • Ji Shu cultivated beneath the Old Sophora Tree and fused the sword arts he learned into his Righteous Qi Sword.

Arc 2The Five Peaks Contest

Ji Shu survived repeated attempts on his life, mastered new martial arts, and reached Mount Song as Zuo Lengchan moved to unite the Five Peaks sects. He defeated Linghu Chong in the arena and sent Mount Song’s challengers flying, leaving the contest underway.

  • Feng Qingyang recognized Ji Shu’s grasp of the Nine Swords of Dugu, while Yue Buqun examined the cave swordplay and restricted what his disciples could learn.
  • Ji Shu created the Righteous Qi Swordplay, traveled toward Mount Song with Yue Buqun’s party, and exposed Lao De Nuo’s plot to ambush them for Zuo Lengchan.
  • Ji Shu killed Hong Yi’s assassins in Luoyang, rescued Wang Yuanba and the other captives, and refused to take Lin Pingzhi as a disciple while offering to teach him martial arts.

Arc 3The Righteous Qi Sword

Ji Shu strengthened his martial arts, destroyed the Mount Song Sect, and killed the Shaolin-led alliance that pursued him. He left for West Lake Plum Manor with Qu Feiyan, carrying new manuals and refining his sword art along the way.

  • Ji Shu survived Mount Song Sect’s ambushes, perfected the Purple Cloud Divine Skill, and killed Hong Qian and eight hundred cavalrymen when they tried to seize him.
  • Ji Shu attacked Mount Song Sect, killed Zuo Lengchan and its disciples, then killed Master Fangzheng and the Eighteen Arhats when Shaolin intervened.
  • Ji Shu returned to Mount Hua, mastered several manuals, and completed the Righteous Qi Sword Art while Yue Lingshan practiced beside him.

Arc 4Fuzhou Campaign

Ji Shu freed Ren Woxing, killed Linghu Chong, and survived a massive Players’ ambush in Fuzhou while learning more about the forces seeking to control The Smiling, Proud Wanderer. He returned to Mount Hua with the complete Nine Yin Manual, prepared to cultivate and face the court’s next move.

  • Ji Shu rescued Ren Woxing from West Lake Prison, mastered the Four Friends of Jiangnan’s arts, and took them into his service.
  • At the exchange in Lin'an, Linghu Chong attacked Ji Shu, who killed him despite Ren Yingying’s pleas, then refused Ren Woxing’s offer of friendship.
  • Ji Shu traveled toward Fuzhou, refined his martial arts, and killed Mu Gaofeng before entering a city filled with enemies waiting to claim Hong Gao’s bounty.
  • Hong Gao’s Players and martial artists set Shangliang Inn ablaze and attacked Ji Shu, but Ji Shu defeated their forces, including the Shaolin elites and Master Fang Sheng.
  • Ji Shu interrogated Hong Gao about Players and the Hong Kingdom, took the Nine Yin Manual, and ordered Hong Gao to send letters while keeping him alive.
  • Ji Shu learned that Ren Yingying had used Hong Gao’s treasures to lure him into the West Lake ambush, while rumors after the Fuzhou Campaign turned the Jianghu against him.
