"Slap!"
A crisp slap rang out, instantly wiping the smile off Tongtian's face.
Tongtian turned his head, looking utterly wronged, his eyes filled with grievance as he stared at Xuanxiao. His gaze seemed to say: Didn't you say you forgave me and wouldn't hit me anymore? Then what was that slap just now?
The more he thought about it, the more aggrieved he felt. His lips pursed, and he burst into loud sobs.
Xuanxiao watched Tongtian wailing pitifully and couldn't help feeling a bit awkward. "If I said I didn't mean to, would that make you feel better? It's just that your backside is too convenient to slap—my hand couldn't help itself..."
Hearing this, Tongtian cried even harder.
"Don't cry, alright? How about this—I'll give you this treasure." With that, Xuanxiao reached out and grabbed, and the Primordial Measure Ruler appeared in his hand.
This wasn't a rash decision on Xuanxiao's part.
The Taiji Diagram and the Pangu Banner were destined to become the treasures of Laozi and Yuanshi. For now, these two Innate Supreme Treasures were in the hands of Yin-Yang Daoist and Hongjun, merely held temporarily. In time, they would return to their rightful owners, and Laozi and Yuanshi would use them to suppress their fortunes.
Tongtian, however, was unlucky. Without an Innate Supreme Treasure to suppress his fortunes, the Jie Sect's eventual fate was utterly tragic.
Though it was uncertain whether Tongtian would found the Jie Sect in this life, giving him the Primordial Measure Ruler as a backup for establishing a sect and suppressing fortunes wasn't a bad idea.
Besides, the Primordial Measure Ruler was useless in Xuanxiao's hands.
"You... you really mean to give me this Treasure of Merit!!!" Tongtian stared at the Primordial Measure Ruler before him, instantly forgetting his earlier grievance, his heart now filled with surprise and delight.
"Cry for a bit and get a Treasure of Merit? If I go out and cry now, could I get Second Uncle to give me one too?" Yuanshi eyed the Primordial Measure Ruler, his eyes darting as he mulled over the possibility.
But in the end, Yuanshi couldn't bring himself to do it, and he knew that getting a Treasure of Merit wasn't that easy.
So he sighed helplessly and gave up on the tempting thought.
Laozi, on the surface, remained calm, but only he knew what was going on inside.
"What? Don't want it? Then I'll take it back." Xuanxiao made as if to withdraw the Primordial Measure Ruler.
Seeing this, Tongtian didn't hesitate. He threw himself onto the Primordial Measure Ruler, hugging it tightly.
"How could you! You're my good Second Uncle—words said can't be taken back, or you'd be slapping your own face. As your junior, I can't bear to see you lose face."
With that, Tongtian kept a wary eye on Xuanxiao, afraid he'd take the treasure back.
By now, Tongtian had clearly figured it out. In the Primordial World, anyone who dared claim to be Pangu's younger brother without being punished must be telling the truth. Xuanxiao really was his Second Uncle.
"What, not so cocky now?" Xuanxiao looked at Tongtian with amusement.
Tongtian grinned sheepishly. "Hehe, I didn't know who you were before. Now that I do, I have to change my attitude."
Xuanxiao waved a hand casually. "Alright, I never take back what I give. I said it's yours, and I won't go back on it."
With that, Xuanxiao turned his gaze to the Heaven and Earth Mysterious Yellow Exquisite Pagoda in his hand. "You two little ones inside, still not planning to come out?"
At Xuanxiao's words, Laozi and Yuanshi emerged from the Heaven and Earth Mysterious Yellow Exquisite Pagoda.
Once out, they bowed slightly to Xuanxiao and said respectfully, "Greetings, Second Uncle."
Xuanxiao nodded, looking Laozi and Yuanshi up and down.
"I didn't expect Laozi to look like a little old man, but this miniature old man is pretty cute.
And Yuanshi, with that stern middle-aged face, paired with this tiny body, it just looks a bit off."
With that, Xuanxiao reached out and pinched their cheeks, giving them a gentle tug. "You two little ones, clearly younger than me, but one dresses like an old man, and the other always has a straight face—no youthful energy at all."
Laozi and Yuanshi, their cheeks pinched, struggled incessantly. "Second Uncle, please stop."
Though they'd already seen from earlier antics that this good Second Uncle had a bit of a "mischievous" streak, getting their cheeks pinched right after coming out still caught them off guard.
Tongtian, still clutching the Primordial Measure Ruler, watched his two older brothers suffer and wore a gleeful expression. "Hehehe, I'm not the only unlucky one now."
Xuanxiao tugged for a while before letting go.
Laozi and Yuanshi's faces were filled with utter despair.
It took a good while before their expressions gradually eased.
Laozi looked at Xuanxiao and asked curiously, "Second Uncle, did you come here on your own accord, or does Father God have some instruction?" Yuanshi and Tongtian also looked at Xuanxiao with great curiosity.
In their view, Xuanxiao wouldn't have traveled all this way for nothing. Surely he had something important.
Xuanxiao paused at Laozi's words, then shook his head. "No, ever since I was reborn, I've been feeling pretty bored, so I thought I'd come chat with you all."
Hearing Xuanxiao's answer, the Three Pure Ones found it hard to believe.
"Second Uncle, if you have anything to say, just say it. If we can do it, we'll give it our all." Tongtian patted his small chest, speaking with conviction.
"Alright, there's really nothing. Besides, in your current state, even if there were something, you couldn't help me much." Xuanxiao shook his head again.
"But since you've all already gained consciousness, it works out. I'll preach the Dao to you and help you be born into the world sooner." Xuanxiao said after a moment's thought.
At these words, the Three Pure Ones' eyes lit up instantly.
Who was Xuanxiao? He was Pangu's younger brother. The Dao he preached would surely benefit them immensely.
"Thank you, Second Uncle." The Three Pure Ones said in unison.
Xuanxiao nodded casually and began to preach the Dao.
The Three Pure Ones immersed themselves in Xuanxiao's preaching and soon entered a state of enlightenment. For a time, above their Daoist Temple, countless shadows of the Great Dao flickered, radiating brilliant light.
