Background

Kushina and Uzumaki Mina trained in sealing techniques under the Uzumaki Clan's First Elder as children. Kushina left at the age of eight; after the Land of Whirlpools was destroyed, the two lost all contact. 38 62

By the time Mina resurfaces in Konoha, Kushina is the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki. Her position subjects her to surveillance and confinement, leaving her unable to travel freely or even visit Mina without scrutiny. 62 66 130

Kushina reunites with Mina after years apart and eagerly asks her to visit more often. Mina’s eventual early departure, prompted by Minato’s attempt to recruit her for Konoha Hospital, upsets Kushina and reinforces her loneliness. 65 66
