As the vengeful spirits and evil ghosts howled down like black clouds blotting out the sky, cries rang out within the city.
Before long, several hundred people formed hand seals with both hands and murmured incantations.
The chanting was faint at first, yet possessed astonishing penetrative power, as though it could pierce through all things and reach the soul itself. Then it gradually grew louder, growing vast and majestic.
In the ink-black sky, spiritual light suddenly flashed. A phantom deity slowly condensed, seated amidst the clouds with Its palms pressed together, gazing down upon all living beings. It seemed to expound the righteous way of heaven and earth, yet also seemed to murmur softly.
Its eyes held all the suffering, sin, calamity, and affliction of the world, filled with compassion for all under heaven.
Beside the deity, a Gate of Guidance slowly opened.
Within it shone ten thousand rays of rosy light and a thousand streams of auspicious radiance.
It was a Pure Land, where every yin spirit suffering in misery and trapped in hell could find deliverance.
A tranquility born from the soul flooded their hearts, making them yearn to ascend and enter.
Large numbers of vengeful spirits and evil ghosts immediately began turning transparent bit by bit. As though trapped in a mire, their speed plummeted. Then they became increasingly illusory and drifted toward the Gate of Guidance.
This was the Spirit Crossing Sutra!
As several hundred people chanted in unison, those sinister evil spirits were like thin frost beneath the blazing sun, unable to hold themselves together.
"Boom!"
A bolt of Purple Cloud Divine Thunder physically sent the strongest evil ghost among them to salvation, reducing it to green smoke and clearing everything within several yards around it.
"Whoosh!"
A sharp spear whistled
