Trouble Has Come Knocking
The pockmarked man was looking at Qin Feng with a troubled, worried expression.
Sure enough, Qin Feng had guessed right. That piece of gold was fake, merely a prop they used for scamming people. But that huge bag of gold coins was real. To make the scam seem more convincing, the entire group had brought out all their savings.
If there had been fewer people around and this child tried to take that bag of gold, they would have kicked him away without hesitation!
But with so many people here, if they made a move, they would probably be beaten to death by the crowd before they could even touch the child!
The moment they acted, anyone with half a brain would notice something was wrong and quickly realize it was a scam.
They had been running their con here for nearly two months. If they were exposed, getting away would be a miracle.
Now, they could only hope these people would persuade the little brat.
"Thank you for your kindness, uncles and aunties, but my father taught me to leave room for others so we can meet again in the future. If I took all of this uncle's gold, wouldn't he lose everything? Besides, that piece of gold is so heavy. It would be hard for me to carry it home, so I'll just take this bag of gold coins."
Qin Feng spoke to the crowd of onlookers.
Of course, he had made that up on the spot so his choice of the bag of gold coins would seem more reasonable.
However, he did not know that the instant he finished speaking, Old Si shot him a vicious glare.
That look seemed to say, To hell with meeting again in the future! You're willing to take even that piece of gold, yet you complain it's too heavy? Why didn't you think it was heavy when you first took it out?
"Ah, what a truly good child! Look at the upbringing of children from respectable families."
The moment Qin Feng said that, praise erupted all around him.
For a child to possess such awareness was truly rare.
"Thank you, uncles and aunties. It's getting late, so I'll be heading back now."
As he spoke, Qin Feng grabbed the bag of gold coins and ran off.
"Hey!!"
Old Si, the pockmarked man, wanted to stop Qin Feng, but several people blocked his path.
"Old Si, we're really happy for you. Who would've thought you'd run into such a sensible child? If it were us, you'd probably lose every last coin."
"That's right. We wouldn't let an opportunity like this slip by."
Several people who usually got along well with Old Si smiled as they spoke to him.
What they did not see was that Old Si looked as though he were holding back internal injuries.
That piece of gold was worth one gold coin at most, but there were a full five hundred gold coins in that bag!!
If there had not been so many people around, he would have nearly shoved aside the two people blocking him and beaten them senseless.
On the road, Qin Feng ran at full speed.
He headed straight for Notting Academy without stopping.
Still, such a huge bag of gold was far too conspicuous.
If Xiao San were here, it would have been great. Didn't he have a Soul Tool? It would be much more convenient to put the coins inside it.
Qin Feng thought to himself.
Clang! Clang clang!!
On the street in front of Notting Academy, a series of hammering sounds caught Qin Feng's attention.
The sound was somewhat different from ordinary blacksmithing. It seemed more forceful, somewhat resembling the momentum of borrowing force in the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer.
"This is..."
Qin Feng stopped, because inside the blacksmith shop, he saw a familiar figure forging pig iron with a hammer.
"Xiao San!"
Without another thought, Qin Feng ran into the blacksmith shop.
"Feng Ge?!"
Seeing Qin Feng carrying a large sack, Tang San looked astonished.
"Come here, come here."
Qin Feng beckoned to Tang San.
Since everyone was focused on their work, few people noticed Qin Feng and Tang San's movements.
Of course, another reason was that they were both children. Children naturally had companions, and the blacksmith shop was full of grown men. Who would care about the affairs of two children?
"What is it?"
Tang San looked at Qin Feng in surprise, as though he had never seen Feng Ge act like this before.
"Do you have a toilet here?"
Qin Feng asked.
Tang San rolled his eyes.
So Qin Feng had come in looking for a toilet. He had thought something had happened.
"Go straight ahead, then turn right."
Tang San pointed down a path.
He had come here after testing his Soul Power that afternoon, and he had used the toilet on the way, so he knew the place fairly well.
"Come with me."
Qin Feng forcibly dragged Tang San along toward the toilet.
"Feng Ge, what exactly is so important that we have to talk here?"
After closing the door, Tang San looked at Qin Feng, who was acting all mysterious, and spoke irritably. Qin Feng had dragged him along to the toilet and insisted he had something important to say.
This was a blacksmith shop, and it was full of burly men. The state of the toilet's hygiene was easy to imagine.
"Of course it's important."
Qin Feng smiled faintly. Then, a dazzling golden light flashed inside the toilet!
"F-Feng Ge!"
Tang San stared at Qin Feng in stunned disbelief, his jaw nearly dropping to the floor!
There had to be at least four or five hundred gold coins in that bag. Tang San had never seen so many gold coins in his life!
Back in the village, he only received one or two copper coins each month. Other than the gold coin he had received for the first time today, he had never even seen a gold coin before.
"Use your Soul Tool to store them."
Qin Feng pointed at the Soul Tool on Tang San's waist.
Tang San barely dared to breathe loudly. He nodded blankly, then with a slight motion, stored the bag of gold inside his Soul Tool.
Only after seeing Tang San put the gold into the Soul Tool did Qin Feng finally let out a sigh of relief.
After the two left the toilet, Tang San informed the owner, then left the blacksmith shop through the back door with Qin Feng.
"Feng Ge, where did you get so much money?!"
Tang San looked at Qin Feng in disbelief. He was only six or seven years old. How could he have gotten so much money in a single afternoon?
Could he have stolen it from a bank?!
But even if he had gone to a bank, he should not have been able to steal that much.
There were five hundred gold coins here!
"This was a reward I got for playing a game this afternoon. Those scammers even wanted the gold coin in my hand. Who knew they would end up losing all their capital instead!"
Qin Feng said cheerfully, clasping both hands behind his head.
The two of them had already entered Notting Junior Spirit Master Academy, so they should be safe in principle. That was why he was no longer as cautious when speaking as before.
"A game? A reward? Feng Ge, what exactly happened?"
Tang San became more confused the more he listened. He could not keep up with Feng Ge's train of thought at all.
Seeing that Tang San truly did not understand, Qin Feng told him everything that had happened that day.
However, Qin Feng and Xiao San, who were walking along the campus path, did not notice that several shadows had slipped into Notting Academy.
Under the cover of night, they followed the two of them like venomous snakes poised to strike.
