Background / History

Hundred Flowers Valley was established in a mountain basin surrounded by dangerous terrain. Its unnamed First Valley Master claimed the site after forcing rival claimants to submit through martial prowess. The valley later developed into a Martial Arts Holy Land with a complete inheritance and a large network of disciples, industries, outposts, and subordinate forces. 8 34

Its introductory sword art, Hundred Flowers in Disarray, was created three hundred years earlier by Valley Master Cui Xin after observing falling petals. Despite being taught to entry-level disciples, the technique has eighteen forms with nine variations each and can temper the whole body during cultivation. 2

By Lin Lin's generation, the sect had grown beyond a conventional jianghu school. Its income came from resource extraction, commerce, protection taxes, and commissions, while its operations included law enforcement, intelligence gathering, production, and regional security. 34

Lin Lin's discovery of thirty-five Hidden Acupoint cultivation methods greatly increased the sect's prospects. In almost one jiazi, the valley's experts had added only twenty-eight methods to the Hundred Flowers Secret Records; Lin Lin surpassed that total in less than a year. 53

Story Role / Major Arcs

Lin Lin's early training

Lin Lin entered Hundred Flowers Valley at age eight and formally began martial training at ten. After progressing poorly, he was confined in Yin Wind Gorge, where he began seriously cultivating the valley's introductory arts. 1 2

His rapid improvement and later elevation from Official Disciple to Elite Disciple made him a source of inspiration for other disciples. 38

Hidden Acupoint breakthrough

Ji Yun permitted Lin Lin to study the Hundred Flowers Secret Records despite its three-hundred-thousand Sect Contribution cost. Lin Lin subsequently discovered thirty-five new Hidden Acupoint cultivation methods, earning the attention and full support of the Valley Master and senior elders. 47 53

Tianhu Alliance War

Seventeen major powers formed the Tianhu Alliance to kill Lin Lin and divide Hundred Flowers Valley's manuals, Hidden Acupoint methods, industries, and other assets. Their force included more than two million troops and over five thousand first-rate experts. 82

Hundred Flowers Valley recalled its forces, assembled roughly eight hundred thousand local militia, and defended Hopeless Pass, Heavenly Star Pass, and the Mountain Gate while Lin Lin underwent his True Qi Condensation transformation. 83

During the alliance's Beheading Operation, the sect fought under extreme disadvantage. Its Mountain Gate was destroyed, its disciples exhausted themselves maintaining the Hundred Flowers Sword Formation, and Cui Ximing was nearly killed before Lin Lin emerged and forced the enemy to retreat. 84 86 87

Succession and political transformation

Following victory and the acquisition of vast war spoils, Cui Ximing designated Lin Lin as his successor. 96 At the throne-passing ceremony, Lin Lin became Valley Master and declared his intention to end the Era of Upheaval by unifying the Divine Continent. 107

Hundred Flowers Valley then became the institutional core of Lin Lin's expanding political order, supplying literate disciples, soldiers, guards, administrators, and logistical personnel for the emerging Great Xia regime. 108
