Structure and Hierarchy
The Heaven Temple is built around three great holy lands: Sun Moon Heaven, Lightning Prison Mountain, and Qingli Peak. Their respective heads are the Heavenly Leader of Sun Moon Heaven, the Lightning Prison Mountain Master, and the Qingli Peak Master. 2262 2263
- Dao Ancestors — Three legendary supreme figures regarded as the guides of the Heaven Temple’s gods; their wills issue sacred edicts to the three holy lands. 2263
- Sun Moon Divine Lord — The highest operating authority after the Dao Ancestors withdrew to comprehend the Heavenly Dao; periodically reiterates the ban on Creation Realm combatants acting on the Primordial Continent. 2752
- Divine Kings, Divine Lords, Divine Generals, and Divine Beings — The Temple’s upper combat hierarchy includes Creation Realm experts, whose ranks can be mobilized to enforce its decrees. 2752
- Hall system — Known halls include the Thunder Hall, Azure Hall, Sun Hall, Moon Hall, Wood Hall, and Lightning Hall. The Sun and Moon Halls are internal divisions of Sun Moon Heaven. 1300 1332 3283
- Spirit Masters and Grand Spirit Masters — Temple emissaries and personnel who administer branch temples, spread doctrine, and conduct combat operations. 1300 1650
- Dharma Protector Venerables — Worldly martial artists recruited by the Heaven Temple as retainers or external protectors. 1332
- War Generals — Powerful martial artists remade through Secret Arts into Temple-controlled puppets; they retain cultivation potential and formidable bodies but lose their freedom. 1300
- Core disciples — Holy-land disciples follow an eight-generation dharma-name system: Heaven, Earth, Mystery, Yellow, All, Realm, Hong, and Huang. The first four generations consist of Creation Realm Divine Beings. 2590
Doctrine and Power of Faith
The Heaven Temple teaches that cultivators who reach sufficient strength become gods and should be worshipped. Believers are expected to serve these gods wholeheartedly, while the Temple’s resources ultimately flow upward toward its highest-ranking beings. 1729
Power of All Beings
The Temple’s cultivation system depends on the Power of All Beings, generated through worship, prayer, and faith.
- Large-scale chanting can condense faith into wish-power golden lotuses visible to those able to perceive the Power of All Beings. 2151
- Divine Statues divide and absorb this power, with the Sun Moon Dao Ancestor’s statue taking the greatest share; remaining portions are distributed among Temple cultivators. 2151
- Heaven Temple Dao Realm cultivators require enormous quantities of the Power of All Beings to advance into the Creation Realm. 2912
- Creation Realm members can sustain immortality by replenishing their divine sources with sufficient Power of All Beings. A shortage weakens them or forces them into slumber. 2912
- This dependence drives the Temple’s continual expansion of shrines, branch temples, believers, estates, wealth, and secular influence. 3176
Recruitment and Influence
- The Temple targets populations affected by war, poverty, resentment, and displacement, as such people are easier to convert into devout believers. 1705 2911
- Its disciples use chants, music, rituals, healing, and apparent divine miracles to strengthen belief and create Fanatic Believers. 2151 2921
- Heaven Temple branch temples and altars proliferate in unstable regions, particularly along Great Zhou’s northwestern frontier and later in Qingzhou and Yunzhou. 1705 2924
- The Nine Sun Divine King’s long-term policy was to support numerous competing states that would recognize the Heaven Temple as state religion, build shrines, and appoint Heaven Temple Grand National Teachers. 2984
Operations and Assets
Branch Temples and Soul-Returning Towers
Every Heaven Temple Branch Temple possesses a Soul-Returning Tower. When slain Temple members’ Innate Souls return to the tower, they receive divine protection before being transferred to a holy land to forge new bodies. 1650
- The Shahe City Branch Temple concealed a vast underground treasure vault beneath the Sun Moon Divine Palace. 1654 1655
- The Luozhou Branch Temple had significantly stronger mid- and high-level personnel than the Shahe City Branch Temple. 1706
- Branch temples can channel power through Divine Statues; Abbot Zhaoshi used a statue of the Sun Moon Divine Lord to release lethal Creation Spirit Light. 1653

Divine Artifacts and Treasures
- Heavenly Domain Myriad Void Divine Mirror — A Xiantian Spiritual Treasure able to monitor the myriad worlds, traverse void, and lock down or control space; Heaven Temple Divine Lords and Divine Kings take turns wielding it. 1871
- Heavenly Mystery Jade Plate — A sacred artifact used by the three holy-land leaders to inspect the secrets of heaven. Blood-red light obstructed its divinations during the omen of great chaos. 2262
- Sun Moon Divine Altars and Divine Statues — Soul artifacts and worship vessels through which the Temple recruits believers, channels faith, and may invoke divine power. 775 1639 1653
- Sun Moon Token — A Law Enforcement General’s Acquired Spirit Treasure containing a strand of Divine Lord-level power for protection or ambushes. 2901
Law Enforcement and Authority
Following the Yuan Da Transformation, the Heaven Temple issued a decree forbidding Creation Realm experts from acting on the Primordial Continent in order to prevent further devastation to heaven and earth. 2752
- The Temple established its authority by killing violators of the ban, including more than 300 Ancestral God Hall Sacred Priests and nearly 400 Devil Race Creation Realm Divine Beings during its early enforcement. 2752
- If a Creation Realm Divine General cannot handle a violator, the Temple may dispatch a Divine King; if necessary, it can escalate to a Divine Lord. 2752
- Law Enforcement General Xuan Jiu later violated the expected neutrality of his office by openly supporting the Devil Race and attacking the Holy Eagle Family. 2886
- The Temple’s enforcement authority has also been used politically, including its decision to exile Ye Zhen to the Exile Land with Devil Race involvement. 2924
Relationships
- Great Zhou Empire — Formally tied to Great Zhou through shared resistance against the Devil Race, but politically independent and powerful enough to pressure the imperial court. More than 30 officials publicly supported its demands during the investigation into Ye Zhen. 1699
- Ancestral God Hall — Ideological rival. The Ancestral God Hall views Heaven Temple gods as powerful cultivators who take without adequate return, while the Heaven Temple demands absolute worship from believers. 1729
- Devil Race — The Temple publicly presents itself as an opponent of the Devil Race, but Great Zhou figures suspect it of exploiting or coordinating with Devil Race actions to create chaos and acquire believers. Xuan Jiu’s conduct reinforced these suspicions. 2404 2886 2912
- Yizhi Temple — A long-standing opponent in the Yizhi Sand Sea. Heaven Temple suffered severe historical losses there and was restrained from mounting a full-scale invasion after the Sun Moon Divine Lord’s prohibition. 3215
- Ye Zhen — Initially targeted for forced conversion into a Thunderbolt War General, later recruited, accused of destroying a branch temple, and repeatedly opposed by the Temple’s law-enforcement and holy-land forces. 1300 1332 1699 2924
Story Role / Major Arcs
Conflict with Ye Zhen
Spirit Master Hexiao first sought Ye Zhen out under the pretext of dispelling the resentment of 937 slain Thunderbolt Sacred Guards. The actual demand was that Ye Zhen submit to Secret Art refinement and become a Thunderbolt War General. Ye Zhen refused and escaped after fighting Hexiao. 1300
The Temple’s approach later shifted when Azure Hall Vice Hall Master Fan Su attempted to recruit Ye Zhen as a Dharma Protector Venerable. This revealed that its internal halls did not always act as a unified bloc. 1332
After Ye Zhen destroyed the Shahe City Branch Temple, the Heaven Temple brought accusations against him before Great Zhou’s court and threatened to summon a Dao Ancestor to perform the time-reversing Creation Divine Art. The dispute ended when Ye Zhen accepted a Dao Heart Demonic Talisman to verify the authenticity of a spirit projection, after which the Temple formally withdrew its allegations. 1699 1723 1724
Expansion through Faith
Ye Zhen later uncovered an underground Sun Moon Heaven temple where more than 50,000 borderfolk were made to chant blessing scriptures before rows of Divine Statues. The ritual harvested their faith as Power of All Beings while turning worshippers into Fanatic Believers. 2151
During the chaos following the Human-Demon Battlefield’s collapse, the Temple rapidly recruited refugees by providing aid, rituals, and Divine Statue incarnations. Sacred Priest Mo Yu concluded that its growing need for Power of All Beings could drive it to destabilize or destroy Great Zhou. 2911 2912
Grand Plan and Divine Kingdoms
Hong Ru completed the first stage of the Heaven Temple’s grand plan by orchestrating Emperor Ji Long’s assassination and Great Zhou’s collapse. The Nine Sun Divine King rewarded him with the Slaughter Flame Flying Dagger and elevated him as the Slaughter Flame Divine General. 2983
The Nine Sun Divine King then ordered Hong Ru to support the establishment of Heaven Temple Divine Kingdoms. These states were expected to recognize Temple gods, expand shrines, appoint Grand National Teachers, and remain dependent on Heaven Temple support. 2984
Later Wars
The Heaven Temple’s Sun Moon Heaven Divine Kings Qinghui and Purgatory attempted to sway Ye Zhen with an offer of princely rank, territory, military autonomy, and marriage into Prince Li Ji Yuan’s family. 3283
The Ancestral God Hall later launched a major surprise attack against the Heaven Temple, killing and enslaving more than 560,000 disciples, predominantly from the Sun Moon Heaven lineage. The attack was intended to worsen the Temple’s internal divisions and prevent its three major factions from uniting against Great Zhou. 3317
By the struggle over the Divine Court, Ye Zhen had slain the Nine Sun Divine King and Chiyan Divine Lord, then fought the Sun Moon and Lightning Prison Dao Ancestors without being defeated. Qingli Dao Ancestor Li Tian subsequently yielded artifacts and support for Ye Zhen’s Divine Court plans. 3448 3483
