Background / History

Pu Yunchuan was an overworked programmer and dedicated gamer who used overtime as an excuse to avoid blind dates arranged by his mother. At the time, he was overweight, haggard, and socially withdrawn; he preferred agile game characters and initially dismissed the Green Titan option as a mining-oriented “meat shield” role. 5

He nevertheless entered Star Sea and became a Green Titan. He devoted his time to the game’s labor, training, and instructor systems, eventually purchasing equipment and an Andre Warrior Bloodline with his Points. 32 95 99

His game-related changes began affecting his real life. During a family gathering, he noticed improved memory, resilience, cleanliness, and energy, while relatives noticed that he no longer looked as greasy as before. 302 He later became entangled in the revelation that Isabelle—whom he had treated as an NPC—could cross into reality. The deaths of Liu Kai and others connected to the incident left him frightened and guilt-ridden rather than triumphant. 326 327 421

After reconciling with Isabelle, Pu Yunchuan received responsibility for developing Gondolin. He recruited shareholders, supported the artificial-soil strategy, and gradually became the faction’s central combat representative while Isabelle handled much of its administration. 477 482 485

During the Black Stone Forest expedition, he earned the soldiers’ trust by rescuing trapped troops, destroying a massive flesh monster’s Energy Core, and defeating an Orc Heavenly General. He returned with roughly one thousand Orc refugees, most of them children, providing Gondolin with an opening for future population growth and ethnic integration. 502 504 523 527

Pu Yunchuan is a longtime shut-in gamer who is uncomfortable with blind dates, family scrutiny, and social expectations. He initially retreats into games to escape his stagnant work and personal life, but remains self-aware enough to recognize his own avoidance and insecurity. 5 32 302

He can be vain, impulsive, and eager for recognition, particularly when his combat accomplishments finally earn him respect. However, he is not cruel by nature: he worries about civilians after the Gondolin disaster, reassures injured comrades, and feels responsible when others work harder than he does. 476 484 506

Although normally mild-mannered, Pu Yunchuan becomes forceful when threatened or when others attempt to humiliate him.
