Background / History

Black Mountain Old Demon originated as an ordinary, irregular black stone that absorbed the essence of the sun and moon and gained sentience. It later bathed in demonic blood during battles between demons, acquiring flesh and blood and beginning its path of cultivation. Its humble origin imposed a limit on its potential as a conventional Demon King, which became the driving force behind its pursuit of metamorphosis. 393

Around sixty years before its final death, it swept through Shannan Dao. Unlike demons motivated by blood food, it manipulated sects, aristocratic families, rogue cultivators, and even Black Armored Guards through their ambitions and fears. Its forces included a trusted Poisonous Flood Dragon Demon Lord stationed in Yanbo Prefecture, who captured martial artists in large numbers and transported them to an unknown location. 99 208 219

Commander Chen Baxian eventually defeated and severely injured the Old Demon, forcing it to flee into the Tiancang Mountain Range approximately fifty-five years before the main story. Its dispersed subordinates abandoned spirit fields, mines, and other resources, which were subsequently occupied by Shannan Dao's martial factions. 99 177 208

During its earlier flight from Yan Xuankong, the Old Demon entered Thousand Buddha Village and stole the Ageless Spring. Yan Xuankong remained behind seeking further gains, triggered the village's core, and lost his physical body; the Old Demon escaped with the stolen object. 225 227
