Background

Ready grew up in a mountain village. As a child, he disturbed a wild beehive and was badly stung; the incident left him terrified of bees and bedridden for more than a month. He later used the Hollow Turntable and Spinning Chair as training equipment, overcoming that fear while developing Dynamic Vision. 46

He became Lorist's attendant in Molent City, serving as a carriage driver and addressing him as “Master,” a term denoting Lorist's authority to make decisions for him rather than a master-slave bond. 38 When Lorist prepared to return north, Ready refused to remain with the associates who had become a social organization, declaring that he would go wherever his master went. 47

Ready accompanied Lorist through the northward campaign and was later accepted as a Norton Family knight. By the time Shiward began training, Ready was Lorist's senior disciple and was tasked with guiding Shiward's cultivation. 206

Following the attack by Great Swordsman Galinan, Ready and Lorist were captured by Mountain Barbarians. Ready's exceptional strength required two six-ring warriors—each comparable to Black Iron Three-star—to restrain him, after which he was assigned to tend packhorses. 214 He reunited with Lorist, survived a winter confined with him in a wooden hut, and recovered both consciousness and his Battle Qi before they escaped. 215 217

His loyalty to Lorist is unwavering. During Lorist's recovery from catastrophic injuries, Ready kept him alive with medicine and nutrient solutions, while using Internal Force to clear blood stagnation and repair damaged meridians. 501

Ready's early success also made him overconfident. After winning the swordsmanship championship at Grand Duke Fisabrun's tournament, he believed himself comparable to a First-rank Great Swordsman.
