Background / History

The Mò Dāo began as an impractically heavy saber blank abandoned by a blacksmith. Forged from meteorite iron and other rare metals, it weighed 386 jin and was too heavy for ordinary martial artists to wield. Chu Feng immediately recognized its potential and purchased it after swinging it effortlessly 19.

Under Chu Feng’s strength, the unfinished saber became a devastating battlefield weapon. Its broad blade and extended hilt allowed it to shatter both riders and horses in a single sweep, and Chu Feng used it to cut through Fang Family forces and martial artists of higher rank 20 23.

The original weapon was later broken by a Demon Suppression Blade. Chu Feng returned it to the blacksmith, who melted the Demon Suppression Blade and integrated its material into the reforging process 39 50. After extensive smelting, refining, and hammering, the restored saber was named Pò Yuè by the blacksmith 57 58.

Chu Feng eventually forged an entirely superior version in the Demon Suppression Division’s workshop. During the forging, demonic phantoms appeared within the weapon blank, while Chu Feng subdued their energies and refined them into the weapon. The completed blade manifested two artifact-soul dragons—one black and one white—which merged into a yin-yang pattern and entered the saber 181.

The Mò Dāo is an enormous saber with a broad, door-like blade and a long hilt. Its reforged form carries layered hammer marks resembling dragon scales and is designed for overwhelming power rather than conventional lightness 19 57.

Acquisition and Fang Family Conflict

Chu Feng acquired the heavy saber after discovering that no ordinary weapon could withstand his strength. He used it to pursue Gao Han and later fought through the Fang Family’s forces, where its overwhelming reach and mass became central to his victories 19 25.

First Reforging

After the saber was broken, Chu Feng persuaded the old blacksmith to integrate a Demon Suppression Blade into it. Chu Feng eventually took over much of the hammering himself, producing the sharper and heavier weapon named Pò Yuè 50 58.

Demon Suppression Division

The reforged Mò Dāo became Chu Feng’s signature weapon after he joined the Demon Suppression Division. It was used against demons, martial artists, and officers, including the Bat Demon, Cui Pinghao, and later members of the Three Baleful Gate 61 81 91 191.

Forging of the Yin-Yang Dragon-Soul Weapon

Seeking a weapon worthy of his growing strength, Chu Feng purchased Yuan Magnetic Spirit Iron and forged a new Mò Dāo in the Demon Suppression Division’s workshop. The forging produced twin dragon souls and transformed the saber into a powerful Spirit Weapon 178 181.

Conflict with the Pei Family

The completed weapon immediately attracted Pei Yuerong’s greed. When Pei attempted to seize it through official authority, Chu Feng used a single horizontal slash to defeat his guards. He later overpowered Pei Yuerong himself, deliberately leaving him with a humiliating half-shaved hairstyle 182 183.

Later Battles

The Yin-Yang Dragon-Soul Mò Dāo continued to serve as Chu Feng’s principal weapon during his confrontations with the Three Baleful Gate and the Shadow Demon Emperor. Its dragon souls appeared when it blocked Shadow Demon’s assassination attempt, and it clashed with another top-tier saber during the ensuing battle 191 198 199.
