During the time the Ghost Gate stood open, there were three ways to earn points.
First, Human Scares Ghost!
As the name implied, humans scared ghosts.
You could use any method you could think of to frighten the ghosts emerging from the Ghost Gate. As long as you scared a ghost, you would receive 1,000 event points.
This was the hardest method. Almost no one had succeeded, and those who had never revealed how they managed to scare a ghost.
Second, Ghost Scares Human!
As the name implied, get scared by a ghost.
Ghosts that emerged from the Ghost Gate could appear anywhere. As long as one of these ghosts startled you, you would receive 1 event point.
Note that being startled did not mean being frightened because you were afraid of ghosts. It meant being caught off guard when a ghost suddenly appeared in front of you.
It was somewhat like the prank of hiding somewhere and suddenly jumping out to scare someone.
Also, do not think getting scared by a ghost was easy. Since you already knew ghosts existed, you would subconsciously remind yourself to stay alert for ghosts that might appear at any time.
Under such circumstances, being startled by a ghost was actually quite difficult.
Third, kill the ghosts that emerged from the Ghost Gate.
The ghosts emerging from the Ghost Gate were neutral, but once you attacked them, they would attack you as well. After killing them, you would gain experience.
At the same time, you would receive points equal to one percent of the experience gained.
These points were calculated according to the first digit of the experience gained.
For example, if you killed a ghost, whether you gained 100 experience or 199 experience, you would only receive 1 point.
At midnight on July fifteenth, the Ghost Gate would close, and all ghosts would return.
Then, two new events would begin.
The first was the Soul River Lantern Release.
At midnight on July fifteenth, a Soul River would appear. Everyone could spend event points to buy a River Lantern. After placing the lantern into the Soul River, they would receive a random reward.
River Lanterns cost between 1 and 10,000 points.
However, that did not mean that placing a more expensive River Lantern into the Soul River would yield a better reward.
Everything was random. More expensive River Lanterns merely had a higher chance of obtaining rare rewards.
Second, Wrath of the Ghost King.
In the words of the so-called system, because Humans had killed large numbers of Ghost Clan members, the Ghost King had become enraged and sent down an avatar to punish Humanity.
A Ghost King avatar would appear in every region. People could use event points to purchase attack items and launch attacks on the Ghost King.
Each time they attacked the Ghost King avatar, they would receive a point refund worth 0.1 to 2 times the points spent on the attack item.
In addition, there was no need to worry about the Ghost King avatar's damage. Its attacks were very weak, so casualties would basically never occur. Moreover, the Ghost King avatar would be confined to a single area.
If the Ghost King avatar was killed, everyone who participated in killing it would receive a certain number of points based on the damage they dealt to it.
After these two events ended, the so-called system would also unlock Point Exchange and Point Lottery.
Whether to exchange for items or try the lottery would then depend on personal choice.
Those were all the events of the Ghost Festival. Since Wang Xian had participated more than once, he remembered them clearly.
But remembering them was one thing; to him, they really did not mean much.
As for the so-called Human Scares Ghost, he had tried countless methods and never succeeded. Instead, he had been scared quite a few times.
Could you imagine one night, eagerly wanting to crawl into bed, then pulling back the covers only to find not your girlfriend, but a blue-faced, fang-toothed ghost lying there?
Could you imagine hiding in some corner, intending to scare a passing ghost, only for a ghost to suddenly pat your shoulder and ask, "Buddy, what are you doing?"
Could you imagine cooking some food, lifting the lid off the pot, and finding a ghost inside?
In short, those ghosts would always quietly appear at the wrong time and in the wrong place, then scare the hell out of you.
As for being scared to death?
That would not happen. After Datafication, the body had no illnesses at all. You simply could not be scared to death; at most, you would faint from fright.
The appearance of ghosts would bring great trouble to the Dragon Kingdom, throwing it into chaos. Yet it also allowed Dragon Country People to level up rapidly and brought them generous rewards.
That was why the Ghost Festival had become both the most anticipated and the most troublesome holiday for Dragon Country People.
There were still two days until the Ghost Festival event began. Wang Xian did not idle around. He took his father, mother, and Su Jin to the Wetland Park to grind monsters and level up, then they changed classes.
His father became a Warrior, his mother became a Priest, and Su Jin became a Mage.
On June thirty-first of the lunar calendar, at two in the afternoon, eight hours before the Ghost Festival event began.
Wang Xian sent his father, mother, and Su Jin home, then rode his electric tricycle toward the city center.
He was going to pick up Cheng Yao. Once the Ghost Gate opened, they would begin power-leveling.
Originally, Wang Xian had wanted Cheng Yao to simply ride her motorcycle over to find him.
But Cheng Yao said she was with her cousin and four of her cousin's friends, and she wanted to ask Wang Xian to take them along to level up.
After thinking it over, Wang Xian agreed.
After all, ten people were needed to form a full party. With Cheng Yao's cousin and her friends, they would have exactly ten people, saving him the trouble of finding anyone else.
Besides, bringing Cheng Yao's cousin along would help him grow closer to Cheng Yao. Why not?
After they discussed it, Cheng Yao asked Wang Xian whether he had a vehicle.
Naturally, Wang Xian said he did.
Cheng Yao then asked if it could carry six people.
Naturally, Wang Xian said there was no problem.
Cheng Yao then told Wang Xian to drive over and pick them up.
Naturally, Wang Xian did not refuse.
So Wang Xian rode his electric tricycle leisurely to Taibai Tower in Ji City.
"Uncle, you call this a vehicle?"
In front of Taibai Tower, Cheng Yao stood with her mouth open, staring speechlessly at Wang Xian's electric tricycle.
"Isn't this a vehicle?" Wang Xian asked.
Cheng Yao said with a face full of black lines, "It is a vehicle, sure, but you plan to use this thing to carry us?"
"Is there a problem?"
Cheng Yao glared at Wang Xian and said irritably, "No problem!"
"Then hurry up and call your cousin and the others over."
"I don't mind riding in your junk vehicle, but my cousin and the others might not feel the same." Cheng Yao shook her head helplessly.
A few minutes later, three women and two men appeared in front of Wang Xian's vehicle. Like Cheng Yao when she first saw the electric tricycle, they all wore expressions of profound speechlessness.
Unlike the three women and two men, Wang Xian fell into shock after seeing their faces clearly.
He did not know the two men, but he knew the three women.
They were none other than the upper management of the Phoenix Dance Nine Heavens guild from his previous life.
Especially one of the women. She was the president of Phoenix Dance Nine Heavens, Nangong Wu, known as the number one Mage in the Dragon Kingdom!
