Background / History
Nangong Wu first appears as a famous mage and a highly ranked beauty in Dragon Kingdom. She joins Wang Xian's group during the Ghost Festival and chooses to remain with them to continue leveling rather than return to the city with her companions. 36 42
She receives several petals from the Flower of the Ancient Shanyin Scholar Tree, using one herself and allocating others to trusted companions and Wang Xian's parents. When the Nangong family discovers that she possesses the last talent-resetting petal, she refuses their demands to surrender it. Attempts to seize it by force end with the attackers dead, and she has their bodies displayed as a warning. 51 67
The conflict with her family escalates when her uncle implies that she may not truly belong to the Nangong family. Nangong Wu takes a strand of Nangong Ming's hair to verify the claim, then disappears while the family searches for her. The question of her lineage remains unresolved in the documented events. 72 73
She invites Wang Xian to join the guild she intends to establish, recognizing both his value and his trust in her abilities. Her preparations are extensive: she plans to fill all 3,000 slots of a Level 1 guild with members whose lowest talent grade is Prodigy. 52 122 Nangong Wu ultimately establishes Blue Star's first guild and later leads it under the name Immortal Palace. 136 146
Appearance
Nangong Wu is repeatedly described as exceptionally beautiful, with an imposing yet elegant presence. Her appearance becomes increasingly associated with phoenix and vermilion-bird imagery after her profession changes. 45 264
- Summons fiery Phoenix Wings for aerial movement and combat. 170 183
- Often fights with a staff, using it to channel powerful flame magic. 78 194
- Wears a fluttering red dress in later events. 1512
- Her eyes are compared to a vast starry sea after many years with Wang Xian. 1505
Personality
Nangong Wu is ambitious, calculating, and exceptionally prepared. She does not merely seek to form a powerful guild; she plans its recruitment standards, resources, territory, and future growth in detail. 109 122 146
She is observant of others, particularly Wang Xian. Early on, she notices that he poorly conceals his secrets through his expressions and bluntly calls him out for it. 46 She also investigates his unusual behavior when he begins suffering symptoms from an ancient curse rather than dismissing it as a harmless habit. 264 265
Though usually composed, Nangong Wu can be ruthless when threatened. She refuses to yield the flower petal to either relatives or outsiders, kills those who attempt to seize it, and later warns treasure-seekers away from Immortal Palace territory through calculated intimidation. 67 223
Her sternness is balanced by a teasing, mischievous side. She enjoys provoking Cheng Yao and Wang Xian, particularly when she has the advantage in an argument. 132 136 She is also deeply protective of her companions and takes command when Wang Xian is endangered. 266 273
