In Soren's past-life memories, she was a moving quest-dispenser in the mid-stage of the Time of Troubles. Anyone of a good alignment could always easily obtain various quests from her, as this mischievous silver dragon was a member of the Harpers, a hidden organization in the material plane.
The Harpers were a very loose, secret, and contradictory organization whose leaders remained unknown and whose internal members were exceptionally diverse. They were the sort of people who forever hid in the shadows, struck only at critical turning points in the political climate, and immediately faded back into the crowd upon completing their tasks. They combated evil in ways that seemed trivial or even unorthodox, yet ordinary good people failed to understand them. "Some claim we are spies, while others consider us meddlesome dangerous elements or unquestioning assassins. In reality, we are a collection of every trait among these types, if the current situation proves such an approach appropriate."
Non-evil individuals of any age, profession, and race could become Harpers—humans, half-elves, elves, some halflings, dwarves, and high-intelligence forest inhabitants (such as wood nymphs and centaurs)—with the first three making up the majority within the Harpers. Most of these individuals were bards or rangers, though other professions also held a place, whether wizard, rogue, or priest.
Druids were allies of the Harpers, but clerics of quite a few faiths prided themselves on becoming Harpers.
This was a very ancient organization whose history could be traced back to before the last Time of Troubles; the Harpers had already existed as early as the period when the Dead Three were active.
