Did he just find something?
Glacier City.
Soren strolled through this peculiar North city. Perhaps because of its proximity to rivers and the sea, and the preference for fish as a staple food, a faint fishy smell often lingered in the North. Amber City was also a riverside city, but it was noticeably less fishy than here; Soren could smell the fishy odor in the air as he walked the streets. This was a transit city in the Land of Ice and Snow. Due to the cold climate, food spoiled slowly, and the meat supply in the North mostly came from transported fish and seafood.
This is a paradise for seafood lovers, where you can buy a sea crab the size of a porcelain bowl for five Copper Daler.
However, it seems that people in this era didn't particularly like seafood, because there weren't enough seasonings to remove the fishy smell. Many nutritious seafoods were only eaten by the lower Commoner. There were quite a few poisonous seafoods, although not fatal, but eating too much could easily make one sick and possibly even lose one's life. The staple food in the Land of Ice and Snow was still only about ten kinds of fish, Soren even bought a very ferocious king crab the size of a washbasin for 3 Silver Daler.
This can be temporarily stored in Bag of Holding; once you cut off a section, you can roast it over a fire.
Soren had replenished his supplies considerably; besides his weapons and equipment, he also needed to replenish his food. This place was about two or three days' journey from Arendelle, a North city relatively close to the coast. Soren's figure stood out among the North, occasionally attracting some ill-intentioned glances, but they quickly looked away upon seeing the Scimitar at his waist. People from all walks of life are very perceptive; those with poor judgment don't live long.
Soren doesn't look like an easy target for outsiders!
Bows and crossbows are not frequently used in the North due to the climate. The extreme cold affects bowstrings, but ironware is relatively well-developed here. Warrior carrying shields, short swords, and Shortspear spears/javelin throwers can be seen. North are quite skilled at javelin throwing, some capable of penetrating the defenses of Heavy Armor Warrior. Soren's additional weapons include sixty-centimeter-long javelins. He has prepared a total of five Short Javelin, which are very effective against large beasts, including Subspecies Dragonkind.
Wizard ' Arcane Shop are found all over the world, and the most common Spell Scroll here are ice Spell from the Evocation.
Soren purchased Spell Scroll for Feather Fall, Levitate, Fly, and other spells, spending nearly 1,600 Gold Daler in total—almost half of his proceeds from selling gems. Fly wasn't something one could master immediately; learning the prerequisite Spell would increase the efficiency of learning Fly.
Soren did not stay in the city for long.
After securing the necessary supplies, he headed towards the wilderness. He had already accumulated a considerable amount of Slaughter Experience; taking down three to five more Bugbear would allow him to level up his Wizard Level. The Rogue class level increases linearly from level 9, reaching over 100,000 Slaughter Experience after level 14. Even a pure rogue without side hustles would need roughly 2 million Slaughter Experience to reach the Legendary Professional level.
Therefore, Soren's priority now is to increase his Wizard Level, maximizing the benefits of his Slaughter Experience!
Wizard Class Level explode after level 9, reaching tens of thousands of Slaughter Experience required for part-time jobs. Wizard above level 14 need more than 200,000 Slaughter Experience points to level up. Therefore, the number of high-level Wizard has always been very small. Unless someone has extraordinary talent, it usually takes decades for others to enter the realm of high-level Wizard.
Soren started attempting to Dragon Slayer after reaching job level 15.
Of course, these weren't pure-blooded dragons, but rather Draconic like Landwyrm, Pteranodon, and Wyvern. He killed his first pure-blooded Dragonkind when he was at Rogue class level 16, but unfortunately, it was just a newly matured White Dragon. Before rank three, it's a period of explosive growth in Slaughter Experience, and your class level increases relatively quickly. Later on, if you want to improve your strength, you can't just deal with random mobs anymore. The Slaughter Experience from a single Pteranodon is more than what you get from clearing out a large Goblin horde, and the value of the loot is several times greater!
Reaching the Legendary rank requires not only Slaughter Experience, but also a fortune of around 100,000 Gold Daler.
Money is essential to everything in this world!
Soren has never been financially well-off enough to perform the 'bloodline purification' ritual for himself, let alone upgrade his high-level Supernatural Equipment. Legendary Wizard's net worth is generally over one million Gold Daler, equivalent to the wealth of a city. That's only enough for him to complete about half of a Wizard Tower.
Rogue is a lowly profession; the need for money isn't too severe!
Although the gap is still huge, Soren has already begun planning to move towards the Legendary Domain. He still needs a lot. Right now, what he needs most is money.
A complete set of Supernatural Equipment has not yet been collected.
The enormous costs of learning Spell still need to be accumulated, and the massive expenses of Alchemy remain unseen. Wizard are a profession that is perpetually short of money, with money never being enough to cover their expenses.
Money is power to Wizard; low-level Wizard defeating high-level professionals are all achieved by spending money.
At present.
Few Wizard can challenge higher-ranking counterparts, not primarily because of a difference in strength, but because they lack the wealth of their opponents!
Sometimes, Soren really felt he should cling to the Goddess of Wealth.
I had a short rest for a day.
Soren then left Glacier City and headed towards the desolate wilderness. He knew that there was a place in the Land of Ice and Snow where subspecies of Pteranodon gathered. They were Crossbreed Dragon of White Dragon, distributed in groups of three to five, and could breathe icy breath. Their challenge level was C among Draconic Draconic, making them relatively easy to deal with.
If he wipes out just one nest, it'll be enough for him to exchange for a high-level Supernatural Equipment!
The wilderness of the Land of Ice and Snow appears rather desolate. Wild creatures are scattered, with species dividing their territories by groups. Adventurer rarely hunt monsters one by one, and monsters are usually found in large groups. You might spend an entire day trekking and searching, only to encounter a few scattered small monsters, and once you've killed them all, there won't be any more for a while.
The situation in White Horse City is mainly due to a special event that caused a large-scale gathering of monsters!
Otherwise, food shortages would force them to cannibalize each other until their numbers are sufficient.
In Soren's memory, "monster farming" actually meant "killing" people. The world wasn't filled with monsters, but with ubiquitous intelligent beings—these were the ever-present source of experience. Therefore, for a long time, those in the Evil Alignment were generally one or two levels higher than those in the Good Alignment. Unfortunately, these people didn't all end up well.
This is a taboo subject.
Because even ordinary intelligent beings are sources of faith for Deity, in places where faith is prevalent, they are the cornerstones of that faith, and it is they who sustain the temples around the world. Some taboos you encounter, and those that attack you, are from temples; the possibility of Legendary emerging cannot be ruled out. The only place Soren has ever killed people is in the desert, where those Desert Bandits are largely ignored, numerous, and densely distributed. Killing too many of them at most provokes a Demigod Church. Otherwise, there are generally no serious consequences.
I seem to have completely adapted to the cold.
Soren now has a high resistance to cold climates and has no difficulty moving around in the Land of Ice and Snow.
Around noon.
He found a relatively dry spot, built a campfire, and then cut off a section of king crab to roast. This delicacy was only available in a few regions and was quite cheap. Spice were extremely expensive; a pound of Spice was almost equivalent to the same weight of gold, something even Adventurer couldn't afford. Soren had rarely used them in the past. He only brought a little now, otherwise he would feel like he was eating gold. If he ate freely, he could eat the equivalent of the money to buy a piece of Supernatural Equipment.
In this world, ensuring survival is relatively easy, but enjoying life requires an increase of dozens of times!
Sea salt has a slightly bitter taste.
The finest refined salt undergoes Alchemy filtration and is therefore a bit more expensive. Soren, however, wasn't that particular; he simply sprinkled some salt and Spice on it and ate it like that.
The king crab tasted very good.
Soren didn't quite understand why people in this era were somewhat averse to eating crabs. When he had eaten about five or six tenths of his fullness, he suddenly seemed to hear some kind of sound.
He stood up abruptly and gripped the Scimitar in his hand.
Soren pushed through the snow-covered bushes and cautiously approached the source of the sound. It wasn't far from him, about a hundred meters away, and he heard a sound like a thud.
There was nothing in front of me!
However, there seemed to be slight dents in the snow, and Soren's expression turned somewhat strange. He cautiously took a step forward, then carefully reached out and touched them with his finger.
He touched smooth skin, even though he couldn't see anything.
"Greater Invisibility?!"
Soren withdrew his finger in surprise, then carefully touched the nose. The nose was small and delicate, resembling a woman's. The breathing was weak, as if the person had fainted. Soren still couldn't see anything; the Greater Invisibility was far too powerful, much stronger than ordinary Invisibility.
Soren could only identify his target by touch; he touched smooth, long hair and an exquisite earring.
He ran his fingers down her neck and found two soft, full breasts on her chest. They felt quite nice to the touch and were very elastic to the touch, suggesting she was a young woman. Her clothes appeared to be very exquisite, probably made of high-quality silk, indicating she was of high status. There was no blood on her body, but her heartbeat was steady, so she probably hadn't suffered any fatal injuries.
Soren hesitated for a moment.
Then he bent down and picked up the girl, who was completely invisible but felt like a human girl, and turned to walk towards the campfire.
Greater Invisibility don't last long, and since he didn't have Spell to break it, he could only wait for it to wear off on its own.
Hopefully, saving this girl won't cause any trouble!
Soren might not have done this in the past, but he had just been saved once, so it could be considered a small act of kindness.
The girl in his arms was very light, as if she were enchanted by some other Spell.
How could a girl with Greater Invisibility suddenly appear in a desolate wilderness, seemingly unconscious? Just by feeling, she seems like she's going to cause trouble!
