Sword Momentum: Decapitation!
Among the low-level Spell, there are two major melee-type touch-based Spell.
One is ' Vampiric Touch,' which reduces an enemy's Hit Points and then transfers the reduction to the caster. The other is ' Ghoul Touch,' which paralyzes the opponent if they cannot survive Fortitude Save. After absorbing over thirty points of Hit Points, Soren's injuries were almost completely healed; the frostbite on his arm was almost immediately removed by his abundant Hit Points. Necromancy Spell are very useful in actual combat; the Frost Pteranodon in front of him was clearly a beat slower due to its injuries.
--"Shadow Assassination!"
Soren's Rogue class level is 9, allowing him to launch 9 Shadow Assassination per day. Upon direct contact with the target, Shadow Energy inflicts 9 points of Corrosion damage. While this damage might seem insignificant, even less than a casual slash from Soren, it ignores defense and resistance. Anyone hit will suffer the Corrosion effect, directly impacting the creature's Hit Points.
--"Shadow Assassination!"
Both attacks grazed the Frost Pteranodon's outer layer of Dragon Hide, but the surrounding skin was tinged with a dark bluish hue, and the blood vessels showed obvious signs of shrinkage. Shadow energy is highly corrosive, capable of causing immense damage not only to enemies but also to the caster's own body. Therefore, many shadow Wizard, after making mistakes in certain experiments, have been forced to transform themselves into semi- Shadow Life forms. In this respect, Rogue are much safer, as their growth process involves assimilating shadow energy.
A whooshing sound filled the air!
After Dodge, Soren rolled behind a rock, a move that honestly didn't look very impressive. In Middle Earth, it's called a "Rotten Donkey Roll," and those who like to show off usually wouldn't use it. But Soren didn't care about such things at all; he followed a practical approach and didn't care about style in battle. He didn't care whether his fighting was elegant or ugly. Anyone who has experienced a lot of real combat knows that Roll Dodge is more effective than Dodge.
Combat is a very serious matter.
It's incredibly foolish to risk your life for the sake of style; bloody life-or-death battles aren't for showing off.
Soren took a deep breath and began to increase his oxygen intake to enhance his explosive power. Adrenaline secretion can be accelerated through special techniques, which are key to professional martial arts training. His pupils were slightly bloodshot, and their outlines were 1.5 times larger than before. There were also some other subtle features on his body. These features were not supernatural abilities, but rather explosive power developed through long-term training and combat.
This is before he goes Rage; Berserker could instantly double the size of his pupils and increase adrenaline levels several times over. A prime example is the Barbarian. Legendary Barbarian's eyes become almost a single color after Rage, with the pupil and white of the eye nearly merging together. This isn't due to the explosive power, but merely an outward manifestation of the state. During this time, a professional's motion detection abilities are greatly enhanced.
My heart started racing, like the beat of an exciting drum.
The moment Soren charged out, his heart rate nearly doubled. This explosive power requires a strong Constitution to support it; losing that Constitution results in ruptured blood vessels. This is why many Berserker have short lifespans—their Constitution can't keep up with the consumption of power. They've used their Rage abilities too many times, thus overdrawing their Hit Points. It's like how a significant portion of masters of external martial arts don't even live as long as ordinary people.
Soren's core stat allocation is focused on Constitution, precisely to cope with this situation!
--"Decapitation Attack!"
He leaped forward, landing directly on the Frost Pteranodon's back, then twisted his waist and took a Whirlwind Attack. Relying on his superior balance, he found a point of leverage on the Frost Pteranodon's back, and then used [Sword Momentum - Heavy Chop] again!
A row of documents appeared:
"Launch Shadow Assassination!"
"Activate [Sword Momentum - Heavy Slash]!"
"You dealt 72 points of cleaving damage (critical strike) to the target!... Armor Piercing penetration stacking!... Sharpness stacking!... Successfully triggered Decapitation Attack!... Decapitation failed!... Target's fortitude check failed!... Target enters severe bleeding state!..."
Clang!
Soren's Scimitar struck the Frost Pteranodon's neck bone, this time missing the crevice and striking the bone itself. The impact sent a shiver down his spine. A ten-centimeter-deep cut was made in the Frost Pteranodon's neck, revealing half of the split bone. Lacking sufficient strength, Soren couldn't yet sever the Dragon Bone with his Supernatural Weapon; he had only inflicted a severe wound. Large amounts of blood gushed out, Frost Pteranodon roared wildly, its body tumbling and throwing Soren away.
Bang!
Soren's Stoneskin Protection from Energy trembled. He was accidentally struck by the Dragon Wing, and immediately felt two of his ribs break. A mouthful of blood welled up in his throat, but he forced it back down. The Frost Pteranodon, its neck severed in half, seemed to have injured a blood vessel, and blood gushed out like a faucet turned on full blast, turning the area within a dozen meters into a bloody mess. Its Hit Points was rapidly depleted with the blood, and its breathing quickly became weak.
"There's one more!"
Soren dared not look back, leaping into the shadows and activating ' Hide Sight ' to enter Stealth mode. A dragon claw, gleaming with cold light, slashed past behind him, sparks flying from the cold rock, leaving a claw mark more than ten centimeters long and about five centimeters deep. The claws and teeth of these Frost Pteranodon were Sharpness and stronger than metal; Soren's Leather Armor offered no protection whatsoever. Only the Protection from Energy Force Field of Stoneskin could withstand their attacks.
After its attack missed, the Frost Pteranodon clearly retracted its claws.
Soren appeared from the side, slashing at the enemy's neck. Whether it was because their necks were too long, or because Soren enjoyed the exhilarating feeling of Decapitation Attack, he landed several consecutive blows to the enemy's neck during the ensuing skirmish. Unfortunately, he had no chance to exert force; ordinary slashes could at most pierce the Dragon Hide. If he was unlucky, the blade might even get stuck in the cervical vertebrae. But the effect of the attack was undeniably good; the enemy bled faster and faster, and their head began to move more slowly.
A fleeting opportunity.
Soren seized the opportunity when the Frostwing retracted its wings, flipped over and sat on the Frost Pteranodon's neck. Then, with all its might, it pressed its head down. The continuous injuries and bleeding had weakened its strength, and for a moment, its head even felt heavy. Then, a cold light flashed, and Soren launched another Decapitation Attack.
However, the information that surfaced this time is different!
"Launch Shadow Assassination!"
"Activate [Sword Momentum - Heavy Slash]!"
"You dealt 78 points of cleaving damage (critical strike) to the target!... Armor Piercing penetration stacking!... Sharpness stacking!... Successfully triggered Decapitation Attack!... Decapitation successful!... Target's lethality check failed!... Target instantly dies!..."
"Battle over."
"Through this battle, you have gained some understanding of [Sword Momentum - Decapitation]!..."
Combat Skill information prompts have appeared.
Soren collapsed to his knees with a thud, panting slightly. He struggled to his feet, not bothering to clean up the battlefield, but instead stripping off his clothes. A dent was clearly visible on his chest—his ribs had been broken by the Frost Pteranodon. Fortunately, Stoneskin had mitigated some of the damage; the ribs weren't broken too badly and hadn't pierced his lungs. Had they pierced his lungs, they would have instantly reduced his explosive power by thirty percent.
"Ah!"
Soren let out a muffled groan, gritted his teeth, and put his broken ribs back in place. He then stood there catching his breath for a moment.
Blunt force damage can sometimes be more severe than piercing damage, especially when it hits the head, potentially knocking the target unconscious. He used to favor blunt force against Heavy Armor Warrior, as it could briefly stun enemies with low toughness. Against those Heavy Armor Warrior with their "turtle shell" defenses, slashing and piercing attacks alone weren't enough to inflict fatal damage. Blunt force attacks to the chest were the easiest way to break bones. [Fractures, paralysis, concussion, unconsciousness, dizziness.]
Soren glanced at the Combat Skill prompts that appeared, then began to collect the loot in front of him.
First comes skinning. Dragon Hide is an important raw material for making extraordinary Leather Armor, and it is quite valuable!
Pteranodon meat cannot actually be eaten directly; only someone with Superhuman Constitution like his can withstand it. Ordinary people might be poisoned if they ate it. The most poisonous Draconic is the Wyvern; its meat can kill a person instantly. Frost Pteranodon meat is cold in nature, and he even remembered that a skilled practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine had once compiled statistics on the medicinal properties of Dragonkind flesh and blood.
For example—"Frost Pteranodon. Extremely cold in nature. Contains cold toxins. Enters the liver, lung, and kidney meridians. Replenishes vital energy, strengthens muscles and bones, enhances strength, warms and tonifies kidney yang. Calms the liver and improves eyesight. Those with weak spleen and stomach should not consume it, as it may cause chest and abdominal discomfort. It can detoxify, but should not be consumed in large quantities or for extended periods. Women should not consume it during menstruation, as it may cause severe bleeding and endanger their lives."
This person was worshipped by many people at the time.
He was the only character in Soren's memory who had raised his Heal skills to over 600 points, almost to the point of becoming a "path to immortality through medicine." It was said that his Heal skills could stimulate natural energy and produce healing effects similar to Divine Magic. This being was also a very famous "gourmet" at the time, whose footprints covered almost many Plane, and he even compiled statistics on the medicinal properties of over a hundred kinds of creatures.
He was also an idol for foodies at the time.
Legend has it that because he ate the wrong things, his Constitution condition dropped from 18 points to 12 points, and even Divine Magic couldn't restore it.
He died in the end.
Soren didn't quite remember how he died, but he was certain that he ate something he shouldn't have and was accidentally poisoned.
He died a worthy death, I suppose.
Soren selected a suitable spot to begin skinning the Dragon Meat off parts of its flesh. The Draconic's internal organs could be used as materials, and the Dragon Blood was suitable for low-level Alchemy and Scroll Scribing. The most valuable part was the dragon's whip, which could be sold for several thousand Gold Daler, and the total profit, including the miscellaneous items, was probably around ten thousand Gold Daler.
Overall, Soren has almost enough materials to study Alchemy and Scroll Scribing recently.
