Soren Gets Extorted
Amidst the swirling snow.
Soren carried Princess Anna's petite figure as they slowly rose into the air. She seemed somewhat excited, but the moment she opened her mouth, a mouthful of wind and snow was poured in, causing her little face to flush red. Only those who have personally experienced strong winds, storms, and typhoons can understand what it feels like to be exposed to the raging winds of nature without protection—a feeling even Wizard are somewhat wary of.
In fact, Soren's expression also showed a hint of excitement, because flying is always a wonderful desire.
Their figures rose little by little, gradually flying to a height of several hundred meters in the air. This height was by no means enjoyable, as the cold wind became even more biting without the shelter of the mountains. The speed of the Fly was roughly between 30 and 120 feet, or about 10 to 40 meters per second. Very few people could exceed this speed range, because any faster than that would be unbearable for the human body, especially for a relatively weak Constitution like that of Wizard.
In Soren's memory, there was only one Spell that could achieve supersonic flight!
The name seems to be ' Spectral Flight,' a rare and high-level obscure Spell. After casting it, the caster transforms into Spiritual Body form, unable to attack or cast spells, but able to fly at supersonic speeds. Because he hasn't mastered the [Swift Flight] Feat and has only recently learned Fly, Soren's actual flight speed is only about 10 meters per second. It's said that some have achieved speeds exceeding 100 meters per second, but this requires many Feat and Abjuration Spell, as it's equivalent to half the speed of a jet airliner.
Flying is not as safe as you might imagine.
Because what Wizard fear most is being hit with a ' Dispel Magic '. If the effect of Fly is successfully dispelled, the higher and more graceful you fly, the more pathetic and miserable you will be when you fall.
This is no joke!
Casting spells at high altitudes requires a very strong foundational skill, [Concentration], because casting Spell inherently requires focused concentration. If you are disarmed and unable to cast Fly during a high-speed fall, or if you haven't prepared other Spell to counter the fall, your Destiny is to be smashed to pieces. Even if you're a powerful sorcerer, you'll still fall to your death. That's why Wizard prefer to study Teleportation Spell and don't like to invest their energy in flight Spell.
Some high-ranking Wizard who enjoy flying have only solidified special Spell, such as Feather Wing and Dragon Wing. This isn't necessarily very safe; if an enemy throws a ' Disintegrate ' or ' Shatter, they could still be caught off guard. Essentially, Fly isn't as graceful and free as Teleport Blink. Few of the native Wizard in the storyline fly; Goria prefers walking to flying, subconsciously reflecting this concern.
The duration of Fly is measured in minutes.
Soren's Spell power is not high. With a class level of 6 and an intelligence bonus of 5, his Spell power is approximately 11 points, which allows him to sustain Fly for 11 minutes, covering a distance of about 6,000 meters. Soren's Wizard Class Level is 6, and he has two 3rd-level Spell slots, allowing him to fly a total distance of 12 kilometers.
This distance is more than enough for crossing mountains.
Strange cries came from the sky.
Soren seemed to hear the sound of the Frost Pteranodon. He quickly lowered his altitude slightly, then gestured for Princess Anna in his arms to be quiet, and slowly slipped away at low altitude. Fighting Frost Pteranodon in the air would be suicidal; there were likely more than just one or two groups of Pteranodon in this area. Fly was fast in a straight line, but only half the speed during ascent and descent. Soren quietly flew over, and soon his field of vision gradually opened up.
Beyond the mountains lies a dense forest, a very lush snow-covered woodland.
Soren was undoubtedly relieved and quickly lowered his altitude to slow his flight. He then landed after entering the dense forest.
We'll definitely have to get through this.
However, the road was much easier now. He led Princess Anna and spent half a day crossing the dense forest, gradually entering the area inhabited by humans.
"Here, put this on."
Soren took out a cloak and handed it to Princess Anna, saying in a deep voice, "Don't talk much on the way. And don't take off the cloak. The Chosen of the Deity are very difficult to deal with; there might be their spies here too."
Princess Anna nodded gently and then put on the cloak.
This area is actually already Arendelle's territory, but no one can guarantee that the Torment Cultist hasn't spread here. With a definite target, a Legendary Wizard can arrive in a short time. Soren isn't sure about the situation in Arendelle; the Chosen of the Deity are incredibly powerful, and he doesn't know if the Princess can handle them. The best course of action now is to disguise himself and travel along, observing the changes within Arendelle. If there are no major incidents, it should be safe.
After all, according to Soren's past memories, nothing major had actually happened in the Land of Ice and Snow!
The two walked forward along the snow.
They camped out in the wilderness for one night, then continued for dozens of kilometers until they finally saw the outline of a town.
"This is Talado Town," Princess Anna recalled for a moment, then whispered, "If we keep going, we'll be closer to the sea. This town seems to be run by a Baron, but I've forgotten his exact name."
The Kingdom of Arendelle has many towns, mainly because its arable land area is smaller than that of the southern regions.
Towns are predominantly located here, with large cities numbering less than one-fifth of those in the south. However, small villages are extremely rare, mainly because villages are difficult to sustain in the Land of Ice and Snow, where the monsters are generally much more difficult to deal with. It's clear that something has happened within the Kingdom of Arendelle, as Soren spotted the guards on alert and the cross erected outside the town.
cross.
This is a special logo.
Unlike its previous religious significance, the cross now represents a form of punishment. Only two types of punishments frequently use the cross: nailing to the cross and the well-known burning at the stake. These two punishments are too Cruelty and are rarely used by the kingdom; the most common punishments are beheading and hanging. Ordinary punishments are either fines and hard labor, or relatively severe flogging, at most reaching the point of being cut in half at the waist.
The cross was primarily used to punish the Fallen, while burning at the stake was most commonly used to punish followers of Evil God.
"It looks like something really has happened."
Soren glanced at the cross from afar; it was covered in blood that had frozen solid, suggesting that someone had been nailed to it.
He turned to Princess Anna beside him and whispered, "Follow me and don't say a word."
The town was heavily guarded.
Soren led Princess Anna forward slowly when suddenly a commotion seemed to break out beside him. Everyone nearby stepped back in awe. The commotion caught the attention of the guards, and a burly North- looking Security Squad approached, shouting loudly and brandishing his whip. However, his expression immediately turned ugly, and he took a step back with a look of utter awe, bowing slightly in humility.
A woman appeared.
A woman with a somewhat sinister air, her face veiled, her pupils alluring, her features reminiscent of Indian women, her hair tied in small braids adorned with numerous trinkets. She wore a long black robe, the front of which bore the mark of a Skeleton —a symbol not to be used lightly, as it was reserved for priests of the Death Pantheon and would invite trouble. But in reality, this woman was not a priest of the Death Pantheon, but rather a priest of another Deity.
On her chest was an Crest with a blood-red background, showing traces of white bones and black antlers.
This is a priest who is associated with the [Goddess of Misfortune]!
There are two goddesses among the Deity that you should be very careful of: the first is the Goddess of Fortune, and the second is the Goddess of Misfortune. Whether you believe in them or not, it's best to show appropriate reverence when you meet their priests. This is because these two goddesses are notoriously difficult to deal with, their personalities and preferences are hard to judge, and they don't seem to have a high demand for religious faith from their followers.
Among all the Deity in the world.
The Goddess of Fortune and Goddess of Misfortune have the fewest priests, because regardless of whether priests expand the faith, they are two of the most familiar and frequently invoked Deity by mortals.
Even Soren prayed to the Goddess of Fortune for luck, which shows how special their existence was.
The Goddess of Misfortune is an Evil and capricious goddess, and her priests are generally no better off, since priests are rare to begin with, and almost none of the priests of the Goddess of Misfortune are simple characters. While they cannot bring you good luck, they can certainly Constrict you in misfortune.
This is no joke!
The priests of the Goddess of Misfortune possess Divine Magic that reduces luck, allowing you to experience a prolonged period of bad luck.
People hold this goddess in awe.
Soren was clearly quite wary of this priestess of the goddess, so when she passed by, he quickly pulled Princess Anna aside and bowed slightly to show his respect.
No one wants to be plagued by bad luck!
The matter should have ended there; the priestess of the Goddess of Misfortune walked straight ahead, and no one dared to stop her. But then, she stopped before Soren. The woman stared at him with an eerie gaze, then slowly opened her hands, her palms bearing Crest of antlers and bones, and said softly, "The goddess needs your offering to her!..."
People around immediately made way for them.
Soren's expression stiffened, for this action made it seem as if he had been blackmailed and forced to offer something. Princess Anna subtly tugged at his sleeve, and without much hesitation, Soren swiftly produced more than ten Gold Daler, carefully placing them in her palm, saying, "I humbly offer this sacrifice; may the Goddess of Misfortune watch over my enemy."
