Skeleton Undead
It has appeared.
Soren waited for three whole days before the Shadow Rift finally appeared.
He turned and glanced at Vivian behind him. Today she was wearing a black princess dress with a pretty bow in her hair. Noticing Soren's gaze, the little girl smiled sweetly and said in a clear voice, "Brother, don't worry!"
"I've read a lot of information about the Shadow Plane, so there's definitely no danger. Besides, Elder Sister Goria has explained a lot about Plane and Demiplane to me before, so she might know even more than you do!"
Shadow Plane.
The Plane that Soren is most familiar with, even more so than the Prime Material Plane.
It is a transitional Plane, connecting the Material Plane to other Plane. Strictly speaking, it is a large semi- Material Plane, a spatial world between matter and energy. From the Shadow Plane, one can reach most of the Plane, so there are many unpredictable dangers within this space, especially at the edges where spaces overlap, where one could be directly sucked into spatial turbulence. Therefore, Soren is extremely cautious every time he enters the Shadow Plane, because there are many dangerous areas and powerful creatures there.
The most common one is the Shadow Dragon.
There aren't many Dragon in the Shadow Plane, but the Shadow Dragon are the most numerous.
Strictly speaking...
Soren actually remembered the locations of quite a few Shadow Dragon lairs, but he was no match for them at all. Even with Vivian's help, it would be a bit risky, because the Shadow Dragon he remembered were all Adult or older.
The world began to turn a gray color.
As Soren's figure passed through the Shadow Rift, his entire being was tinged with a hazy gray hue. The Shadow Plane doesn't reject other colors, but any color here will have an added shadowy gray tinge. This change stems from the structure of the entire Plane's space, and unless it's Spell altered, no one can resist it. This is one of the Plane's rules. For example, the sky and sun in this Shadow Plane —the sky may rain, snow, or hail, but its color is always a hazy gray. And even when the sun shines brightly, it can only ever be a luminous gray.
Therefore, this place often looks like Twilight; it is a paradise for shadow-based Hit Points.
"Careful."
Soren glanced back at Vivian, who was looking around. The little girl seemed quite interested in this Plane, so different from her original world. She even curiously reached out and pulled up some weeds from the ground. The grass was grayish-green, and once pulled up, it looked no different from the Material Plane. The existence and characteristics of the Shadow Plane held many unknown secrets, some of which even the Gods couldn't know. Therefore, there were still many things about this place that were incomprehensible, such as the possibility that the architecture here might be extremely similar to that of the Material Plane.
Furthermore, it may not be the current Material Plane; the Shadow Plane may preserve structures from the Material Plane thousands of years ago.
projection.
An incomprehensible projection. It directly interfered with matter and then copied it to the Shadow Plane.
This projection cannot be understood by common sense, and not everything can be projected. To date, no one has been able to figure out this secret. It seems that many things that can be projected into the Shadow Plane are random, but there is an energy limit to this projection. For example, a castle in the Material Plane that was built hundreds of years ago may be projected into the Shadow Plane, but a Wizard Tower built in the Material Plane is basically impossible to be projected into the Shadow Plane.
Because castles are mostly ordinary buildings, while Wizard Tower are covered with a tremendous amount of energy!
Having traversed the Shadow Plane countless times, Soren has only gleaned one crucial understanding: the structures projected from the Shadow Plane are almost entirely things that have existed on the Material Plane for a very long time. A house built just this year is virtually impossible to project into the Shadow Plane, but a world that has existed for hundreds of years could potentially be Shadow Plane. Therefore, the Shadow Plane contains many cities and towns, and these projections likely occur in places that are quite ancient, inhabited by Shadow Creature.
The buildings projected are not much different from the Material Plane.
They also gradually weather away and disappear over time, so very few things last long in the Shadow Plane.
A Wizard Tower appeared ahead.
Even from afar, its grandeur is palpable. Unlike modern Wizard Tower Wizard Tower, which were built during the Arcane Empire era with a focus on height, these Wizard Tower were typically constructed by Archmage to overlook the earth. Wizard Tower overall structure also resembled a lightning rod. Modern Wizard Tower Wizard Tower are generally shorter, rarely exceeding 300 meters in height, making them relatively easy to identify regardless of the era.
"Careful."
Soren raised his hand to stop Vivian, who wanted to go over and investigate, and whispered, "There are Distorted Shadow around here."
Distorted Shadow.
Semi-energy-based Hit Points, appearing for certain reasons, may possess soul-like characteristics.
Simply put, many of them are transformed from souls.
"Distorted Shadow [Shadow Life][Social Species] (Tier 3)."
"Challenge Rating 12, Personal Level 14, Possesses Spell-like Ability."
"Highest attribute: 20 points; lowest attribute: 10 points; total attribute value: 90-95 points."
Special Feat: Shadow properties, Semi-energy Form, Soul Shaping.
Difficulty level: b+.
Soren was quite familiar with the abilities of the Distorted Shadow, yet he still found them difficult to deal with because these creatures were largely immune to physical attacks. Shadow-type Hit Points naturally possessed over 20% stealth capabilities, and if they were in a semi-energy Hit Points, they could reduce physical damage by 50%, making them troublesome to fight with ordinary weapons. Although Soren possessed the Legendary Scimitar Icetail, he basically lacked the ability to kill the Distorted Shadow in one hit, and these Shadow Creature were particularly prone to living in groups.
Therefore, their challenge level is b+, meaning they are a very troublesome type of enemy!
Zi.
A faint sound was coming from somewhere.
Soren quickly stepped forward, shielding Vivian's small body behind him, while cautiously surveying their surroundings. The Shadow Plane had very little Hit Points —strictly speaking, very little Hit Points of flesh and blood—so animals were extremely rare, sometimes so barren that even Shadow Dragon had to travel to the Material Plane for a feast. The Hit Points forms here were Destruction and aggressive, a chaotic mix of hatred and bloodlust, essentially no better than those in the Abyss.
Twisted souls can be reborn in the Shadow Plane, which is the origin of many half-energy form Shadow Life!
There are still quite a few Undead here.
Squeak!
The sound grew louder, and Soren could hear its source; it was coming from beneath the soil in front of him.
What's underneath the soil?
Soren's extensive past experience allowed Soren to instantly prepare for battle, while simultaneously warning Vivian beside him, "Be careful! There are Undead ahead; they've smelled the scent of the living on us!"
The Undead.
Supernatural monsters.
The most common type of Undead in the Shadow Plane is only one, and it seems to be a rather difficult monster to deal with.
--"The Skeleton Undead!"
When Soren saw the monster crawling out of a mound that resembled a tomb, his expression gradually turned serious. The Skeleton Undead in front of him was different; it was over 2.2 meters tall. Although its bones had been twisted and mutated into Sharpness bone blades, it was still clear that it had been a tall and dangerous creature in life.
The next level up from this type of Undead is the ' Bone Fiend,' Quasi-Legendary Undead with Challenge Rating 12 and CR of 20.
There is no priest.
Unable to Turn Undead, Soren glanced at Vivian beside him, nodded slightly, and then flew away.
It seems he really needs to find a pastor partner in the future.
After all, whether it's healing or Turn Undead, the priest's role is quite important, making them a core member of the trio. The problem is, where can Soren find priests of rank three or higher? These priests hold high positions and status; just look at the Naga Priestess ' significant influence in the coastal areas to understand how high the status of high-ranking priests is.
Clang!
The Scimitar in Soren's hand struck the Skeleton Undead with a series of metallic clangs. Undead at this level were no longer just simple Skeleton; they were dangerous supernatural beings.
--"Ghoul Touch!"
Just as Soren unleashed a series of slashes at the Skeleton Undead, a foul stench suddenly filled the air, and a faint, dark red light appeared in the Skeleton Undead's eye sockets. The smell made Soren take a step back, but he was still slightly grazed by the undead.
Spell -like attack!
High-ranking Undead possess innate Spell-like Ability.
Before Soren could react, a series of documents appeared before his eyes:
"Affected by the Spell ' Ghoul Touch '."
"A mandatory Saving Throw throw has been triggered!... Fortitude Save throw has been successful!... You are immune to the Paralysis effect of this Spell attack!..."
Control Spell.
Soren broke out in a cold sweat, and immediately swung his sword at the enemy's leg bone. Fortunately, he Constitution strong and had a high Fortitude Save, which made him immune to the second-circle Spell attack; otherwise, he would have been Paralysis, which would have been extremely dangerous. Fortitude Save, Will Save, Spell Saving Throw, and so on—all kinds of Saving Throw Ability are very important. Rogue, because they are not as muscular as Warrior, are at a disadvantage in Saving Throw throws.
"Careful!"
Vivian reacted quickly, and the moment Soren was hit by the Skeleton Undead, she began casting spells rapidly. However, the little girl's talent was truly astonishing; she could cast spells while simultaneously paying attention to her surroundings. When she saw twisted shadows appearing all around her, she immediately shouted, "Brother, be careful! There are many Distorted Shadow near you!"
