Difficult Choice
I finally got it.
When the information about his Feat appeared before him, Soren felt a strange sense of melancholy and wistfulness.
The Spellcaster is much harder to Feat than other Feat. While many basic Feat feats can be mastered in a year or two, even the simplest spellcasting Feat requires a significant amount of time. From the moment Soren began working as Wizard, he had been accumulating proficiency in the [Combat Casting] Feat, but it wasn't until now that he truly mastered it. Even with the added benefits of the [Eidetic Memory] and [Loremaster] Feat, it still took him this long.
"Combat Casting [Spell Feat]: With each spell cast, your mastery of Spell gradually increases, enhancing your ability to cast any Spell. When you cast any Spell, you reduce its cast time by 1. If your Spell requires only one second to cast, you can turn it into Quicken Spell. This cast time reduction effect stacks with other casting speed bonuses from equipment."
--"Magic Missile!"
Soren gently raised his finger, without uttering any incantation, as if it were second nature to him, and completed the spell effortlessly. Then, a series of Magic Missile shot out, completely piercing the target in front of him. Combat Casting is Wizard's core Feat, and many of the Metamagic Feat he will master in the future are accumulated from this.
Now that he has mastered [Combat Casting], Soren no longer needs to retain his Slaughter Experience.
A row of documents appeared before my eyes:
"Wizard class upgraded to level 10."
"Gain 27 Skill Point (Intelligence 21 + (Intelligence 21 - 10) * 0.5), and increase Hit Points by 10 points (Class Hit Points 4 + (Constitution 22 - 10) * 0.5)."
"Gain one Free Attribute Point."
"Gain a Feat Point."
Soren allocated his Skill Point to Knowledge and Concentration. He couldn't quickly master [Combat Casting] because his Concentration skill was insufficient, making him easily interrupted during combat. Wizard's Concentration ability has wide applications, whether learning Spell or Combat Casting. Both require a Concentration check, and pure-play Wizard generally have high Concentration levels. The most demanding Concentration test is the [Feat While Mobile Spellcasting] feat, which maintains a constant Concentration check while casting while Mobile Spellcasting.
Soren allocated his Free Attribute Point to Intelligence, as higher Intelligence is naturally better for mastering Epic Spell in the future.
Then comes the very important Feat Point.
"Maximize Spell [Metamagic Feat]: This Metamagic Feat maximizes the power of Spell, increasing its damage by 100% at the cost of raising it by two Spell levels. For example, a 1st-level Spell Magic Missile Spell become 3rd-level Spell after using the Maximize Spell Metamagic Feat memorization, and Magic Missile will deal 100% more damage to enemies." (Note: Prerequisite Feat for Empower Spell.)
"Silent Spell [Metamagic Feat]: This Metamagic Feat allows you to silently cast Spell, increasing the Spell level by one. This allows a spell to be cast without any Spell animation or incantation, simply by being in a silent state. Silent Spell ignores all silence Spell, and enemies have a very low chance of detecting the Wizard casting. Silent Spell can be disguised under any action until the moment the spell is completed, at which point it may not be detected by the enemy." (Note: This is a prerequisite Feat the Epic Feat Silent Spell.)
"Quicken Spell [Metamagic Feat]: This Metamagic Feat allows you to cast Spell instantly, increasing the Spell 'Spell Quicken Spell by three. Quicken Spell cannot be interrupted by any conventional means and are immune to Spell and Spell." (Note: This Feat the Epic Feat Quicken Spell Casting.)
Soren looked at the three choices that appeared before him and fell into deep thought.
Maximize Spell is an offensive Feat that significantly increases the power of Spell. If you want to focus solely on unleashing devastating Magic Missile, this Feat is extremely useful. Then there's Silent Spell, a very effective Feat for ambushing and assassinating enemies. The Eye of the North in the Astral Plane War used Trickery Silent Spell. No one noticed she was preparing Epic Spell until it was completed. This Feat was once very popular among Epic Spell because it allowed them to launch surprise attacks.
Finally, there's the Quicken Spell that everyone is very familiar with, which can transform a Spell into Quicken Spell at the cost of increasing its casting level by three.
A very useful but costly Metamagic Feat!
Both Silent Spell and Quicken Spell are prerequisites for future Epic Feat. After mastering this Metamagic Feat, advanced Legendary Wizard can successively master Epic Feat such as Quicken Spell (silent) level 0, Quicken Spell (silent) level 1, Quicken Spell (silent) level 2, and so on.
Once you master this Epic Feat, you will not need to increase the Spell level of Spell of the corresponding level.
For example, with 1st-level Spell, if you master the Epic Feat Quicken Spell at level 1, then all 1st-level Spell will automatically become Quicken Spell without needing to use a fourth-circle Spell Slot to memorize them. This Epic Feat can be upgraded all the way up to ninth-circle. When you master the Epic Feat Quicken Spell level 9, all Ninth-Circle Spell will become instant-cast without needing to use a higher Spell Slot to memorize them.
Therefore, many Wizard once mastered the Quicken Spell Feat in advance.
The goal is to save Feat Point so that once you enter the Legendary Domain, you can focus on mastering the Epic Feat of Quicken Spell!
pity.
Soren has never seen anyone succeed.
He could say that the most powerful Spellcaster he had ever seen was the Princess of Arendelle, but even she probably didn't have mastered the Epic Feat Quicken Spell level 9 spells; at most, she could only Spell instant-casting level 6 spells.
This is a choice!
This determines whether a Spellcaster wants to become the most powerful one, or abandon the pursuit of the strongest path and instead master other easier and more practical Feat, such as Still Spell, Silent Spell, Delay Spell, and so on.
The Eye of the North chose to Silent Spell.
This means she will almost certainly never again be able to pursue the path of the strongest Wizard, and can only continue down the path of Silent Spell. (Silent Epic Spell!)
The Princess of Arendelle, and now Vivian, both follow the path of the strongest Wizard.
Soren can be certain of one thing.
That means Vivian definitely possesses the Quicken Spell Feat; otherwise, her casting speed wouldn't be so fast, and many low-level Spell wouldn't even require incantations.
But!
Now that it's his turn to choose, Soren is somewhat unsure which path to take.
Choosing Maximize Spell will allow him to pursue the most powerful Spell damage, and in the future, combined with [Epic Spell Penetration], he can unleash astonishing destructive power.
However, if he chooses to Quicken Spell, he may one day aspire to become the strongest Wizard!
This is a difficult choice.
