An Insolent Demand
The light of Morninglord shone down.
Yesterday's luxurious mansion was reduced to ruins. The Young Female Cleric was Diplomacy with a middle-aged man who appeared to be the Garrison. She produced an Crest representing the Light of Dawn, along with a badge issued to her by the Church of Radiance. In the eyes of ordinary people, the Church of Radiance held a high position, as they were always on the side of good and Justice. The ruins contained many Vampire corpses; it was believed that someone of her status could handle this matter without much difficulty.
Soren sat on the rooftop, fiddling with a Crest, or rather, a coat of arms.
This was found on the body of the Eyeless. It was imprinted with the image of a giant Beholder, but unlike other Beholder, its eye sockets had all been severed. The eyeballs on its tentacles had been cut off one by one, and even the huge eye in the center of its body had been cruelly gouged out. It stared ahead with its gaping maw, its empty, bloody eye socket surrounded by a twisted mass of flesh and something indescribable.
"Tyrant Eye?"
Soren examined the Crest closely, muttering, "So the Eyeless was formerly the Tyrant Eye! Who defeated this Challenge Rating 25 monster and gouged out its eyes? It seems it has embarked on the path of Evil God?"
Tyrant Eye.
The Beholder is an extremely terrifying creature in its advanced form, even more powerful than the Death Tyrant. It is a variant of the Beholder.
There are very few of them in the entire Multiverse.
Although Soren had come into contact with the Eyeless before, this was the first time he had obtained Crest like this. The Rogue must be a core member of the Eyeless Organization.
A monster with CR of nearly 30 is about to be deified; the chaos it will cause is likely only just beginning.
No Beholder in history has ever been deified. Soren is unsure if this guy succeeded, because no one has ever seen the true form of this Evil God.
Snap!
After the Young Female Cleric finished Diplomacy with the town's guards, Soren also fell from the rooftop.
"It's all settled."
The Young Female Cleric's expression was somewhat strange as she looked at Soren and said, "We've already sent someone to inform the Witches' Council, and presumably someone will come to handle it soon. I doubt they'd want a large number of Vampire appearing in their territory."
Soren nodded slightly, then tossed the Crest he was holding to her.
"Are you leaving?" the Young Female Cleric asked, looking up.
Soren glanced at her and smiled, "Yes. There are other things to take care of."
"Hmm." Anylia nodded and said softly, "I hope we'll have a chance to meet again. I miss Vivian a little."
Soren smiled.
He then turned and walked out of the Witherleaf Town. Having killed so many Vampire and followers of the Eyeless, some of whom were nobles, this matter required an explanation to the Witches' Council. They had to stay and explain everything to the Witches' Council before they could leave; otherwise, the Witches' Council might be enraged by the death of a nobleman. Even the members of the Church of Radiance dared not easily offend these powerful Witch.
Soren had no time to linger here.
Anylia and the others will need to wait at least three days to finish handling the follow-up work.
Punishing evil and promoting good and then walking away will only lead to greater chaos. There are many other trivial matters involved. The corruption and depravity of a nobleman by Vampire will likely cause serious damage to the surrounding area.
But that should be a headache for the Vampire Church!
Soren traversed the North directly.
Using his Fly, he traversed the Snow Mountains and returned to this frigid land.
The snow and ice here have not yet melted.
Soren followed the route he remembered to a small town near Glacier City, a place he had passed through when he left the North.
Winterspring Town.
It seems to be called that.
A town situated between Glacier City and Arendelle, with a population of several thousand, was neither too big nor too small. Having spent several days sleeping outdoors, Soren decided to spend the night here. So, upon entering the town, he went straight to the Inn. Passersby seemed to be in a hurry; in just a few months, an atmosphere of panic seemed to have spread throughout this cold world. The town Guard stopped him, asked a few questions, and then warned him not to cause trouble before letting Soren pass.
"Looks like something's happened!"
Soren glanced at the tense-looking Guard, then entered the tavern, where he could find his message.
In fact.
The message has spread.
It was only because of the distance that it wasn't delivered to Soren in time; after all, the Land of Ice and Snow South Coast were too far apart.
Soren's worst fears came true.
Without the protection of the Princess, Arendelle's wealth brought them disaster. About a week ago, shortly after Soren received the message from the Land of Ice and Snow, Arendelle was attacked by enemies. Not only the Viking Pirate based in Iceland, but also the Southern Island Nation launched an attack.
The port of Arendelle has been blockaded.
The war had not yet fully broken out; the Southern Island Nation's fleet had merely joined forces with the Viking Pirate to ambush Arendelle's warships, temporarily cutting off the Land of Ice and Snow's shipping routes.
Blockade the port.
This was a harbinger of war, and as the news spread, it affected other areas as well.
There was a lot of discussion inside the tavern.
Some merchants complained that with the port blocked, all their goods couldn't be shipped out. However, much of the discussion revolved around how Princess Anna of Arendelle would handle the crisis.
"Hey!... Did you guys hear?...?"
A Bearded General merchant, clearly quite drunk, let out a burp, glanced at the others, and said, "I've heard that the person leading the fleet to blockade Arendelle port is a prince from Southern Island Nation."
"This shameless bandit made a very rude demand after blockading the port!..."
Require?
Sitting in the corner, Soren frowned upon hearing this. He glanced at the middle-aged businessman who was deliberately keeping the others in suspense, pulled out a Gold Daler, tossed it over, and said in a deep voice, "What are your demands? I don't like beating around the bush, or I'll break your neck!..."
The middle-aged businessman quickly reached out and caught Gold Daler, then swallowed hard and said, "I heard it from other people too."
"That prince from the Southern Island Nation, I think his name is... Hans -Te!... He sent an envoy saying... if Princess Anna agrees to marry him, he will order the lifting of the blockade of Arendelle!... Otherwise, not a single ship from Arendelle will be able to leave!..."
Click.
The wine glass in Soren's hand shattered, a chilling murderous intent flashing across his face as he said in a deep voice, "Are you sure?!"
"Yes... that's how it is!..."
The middle-aged businessman was startled, and a cold sweat broke out on his forehead. He seemed to have sobered up considerably, and his speech gradually became clearer as he said, "I heard it from someone else. I have a relative who works in Arendelle."
Soren's gaze grew even colder upon hearing this.
He casually tossed a Gold Daler onto the bar, then turned and walked out of the pub.
It's getting late.
Soren's figure disappeared into the night, quickly vanishing into the vast darkness.
