Battle of the Mist
"It's getting foggy?"
Prince Hans stood on the deck, surveying his surroundings, and said in a deep voice, "Why is there fog in this weather? Kenroto! Please dispel this fog!"
Standing next to Prince Hans was an elderly man in a long robe. He nodded and said, "Yes. This fog is indeed a bit strange."
A Spell inspiration appeared.
As the old man cast his spell, a gust of wind swept across the area, dispersing the fog on the sea. However, new fog quickly appeared, obscuring their vision, though it didn't seem as dense as before. The old man standing next to Prince Hans frowned noticeably, raising his hand to cast another Spell. He seemed to be a high-level Sorcerer, which was why he didn't need to memorize Spell beforehand. Generally, Wizard rarely memorize this type of Spell.
"This fog didn't form naturally!"
The high-ranking Sorcerer named Kenroto looked grave and said in a deep voice, "It seems something is Summon Mist, Your Highness! We may have encountered some Ocean Monster!"
Normal dense fog wouldn't appear on the sea surface so strangely, especially not just in this one area.
There are no other geographical features nearby that could form mist, so based on the high-level Sorcerer's speculation, the most likely explanation is that there is a Ocean Behemoth here that can Summon Mist.
Damn it!
Prince Hans pounded the deck of the ship and said slowly, "How did a Deep Sea Monster suddenly appear here? Does that mean the Warship that went missing yesterday and the Orion that disappeared today were all its doing?"
The high-ranking Sorcerer nodded slightly and said, "Very likely. If it really was Ocean Monster that attacked them, I'm afraid they're all probably doomed."
Prince Hans nodded grimly and said in a deep voice, "Can we take it down?"
The high-ranking Sorcerer beside him pondered for a moment, then turned to the naval officer. After asking a few questions, he said, "Sure! The Viking Pirate have some whaling cannons on their ships, and our ships also have some equipment specifically designed to deal with large sea creatures. If we can find it, we should be able to take it down."
Prince Hans smiled slightly and said in a deep voice, "But how do we find it?"
"We are at sea. If it's hiding on the seabed, we're probably helpless. Kenroto! Please make sure this Ocean Monster is dealt with, otherwise our Warship may be attacked again, and such an incident would be a huge blow to our Taxi Company!"
The high-ranking Sorcerer hesitated for a moment, then said, "I'll give it a try."
A faint Spell Aura appeared.
Then an eye-like object appeared in front of him, and the surroundings of the mist gradually became clearer.
"Found it!"
A hint of excitement suddenly appeared on the high-ranking Sorcerer's face, and he said in a deep voice, "It's up ahead! It really is a Deep Sea Monster!"
A massive, dark shadow.
Through the Spell light, the others present also saw a trace. It was an enormous black shadow, wandering on the seabed ahead, its size probably much larger than the largest Blue Whale. Such a massive size was undoubtedly that of a Deep Sea Monster. Upon seeing this huge shadow, Prince Hans's face showed a smile. However, it quickly turned serious, because such a monster was not so easy to deal with.
"Prepare for battle!"
The naval commander beside him quickly issued the order, shouting, "Load the whaling cannons! Everyone, prepare for battle!"
The fog ahead had thinned a little.
Following the naval commander's orders, the fleet dispersed considerably to avoid being caught in the crossfire. The fleet sailed forward in a fan shape. To deal with such a Giant Sea Monster, only by creating space could they inflict massive damage. Due to some unknown energy mutation in this world, possibly related to the energy radiation of the Arcane Empire, Mutated Creature frequently appear in the ocean. The most common of these are giant octopuses. Therefore, the navies of these Southern Island Nation have experience dealing with Ocean Monster.
The calm sea surface seemed to be brewing a terrible storm.
The vaguely visible, enormous black shadow was locked onto by the Sorcerer's Spell. Even Prince Hans, standing on the deck, felt a little nervous, after all, dealing with such a monster in the sea was no easy task.
"Alarm!"
A cry of alarm suddenly rang out from the scattered Warship ahead, followed by shouts of "Enemy sighted! It's the Arendelle navy! Prepare for battle! Prepare for battle!"
What?!
Prince Hans looked up in surprise upon hearing this, and then saw a fleet flying the Arendelle flag appear ahead. The enemy was significantly smaller than them, and it seemed that due to the fog in the area, they hadn't noticed each other until they got closer. Upon seeing so many Warship from the Southern Island Nation, the Arendelle fleet appeared somewhat flustered, seemingly intending to turn around and retreat.
"Kill them!"
Prince Hans's expression brightened with excitement, and he said in a deep voice, "Let's ignore that Ocean Monster for now! As long as we don't provoke it, it shouldn't dare attack so many people."
"Order the Warship to full speed ahead! We will annihilate this Arendelle fleet!"
On the other side.
A Bearded General general stood atop a large Warship. As the surrounding fog gradually thinned, his expression changed drastically, and he exclaimed in a deep voice, "Not good! It's the fleet of the Southern Island Nation!"
"Oops."
"We've fallen into their trap."
The signal flare launched today was extremely obvious.
Even he, far away in Arendelle, saw it. Although he suspected it might be a trap, he ultimately decided to lead his fleet to investigate. To avoid being intercepted by the enemy, he brought only fast ships this time. If it weren't for the strange fog, he should have spotted the enemy from afar. However, because the fog obscured their vision, they only discovered each other after getting closer. Therefore, his first thought was that they had fallen into an enemy trap.
Rumble!
The roar of cannons rang out.
The first Warship to enter firing range opened fire in quick succession, Viking Pirate ' Dragon-headed Warship charged forward, attempting to board the enemy's deck. Only the pirates' fast ships could catch up with them; the Southern Island Nation's fleet consisted mostly of heavily armed medium-sized Warship. However, Arendelle's fleet reacted swiftly, immediately turning and retreating on the general's orders, seemingly having no intention of engaging them.
In reality, they simply didn't have the ability to fight back.
To increase speed, Warship must sacrifice firepower. Most fast ships have less than half the firepower of medium-sized Warship. Large warships like the Dragonhead Warship can be equipped with hundreds of cannons, meaning even Speaker of the Dead could be destroyed in a head-on naval battle. The Warship sent by Arendelle have only twenty-four cannons at their strongest, making Arendelle completely outmatched in a direct firefight. However, Arendelle has its advantages: a group of Frost Witch.
The fog thickened.
The Frost Witch seemed to have used Spell to amplify the fog on the sea, making everything fifty meters away a hazy gray.
Much of the artillery fire landed on the sea surface, and the Arendelle fleet could only see blurry silhouettes. The Viking Pirate charged into the fog with strange cries, and when the distance increased to a hundred meters, the navy of the Southern Island Nation could not even see their pirate ships clearly.
"Don't fire!"
A naval officer stopped the gunner from loading ammunition, his expression grim. "Those idiots are charging! Firing now will risk hitting them!"
The field of vision in front of us is already very small.
Such indiscriminate firing carries a high risk of accidentally injuring friendly forces, and it's also difficult to aim at the enemy unless the distance is significantly reduced.
at the same time.
Just as the navy of the Southern Island Nation was preparing to annihilate the Arendelle fleet, a massive black shadow slowly rose from the dark seabed. Near this enormous shadow, a Ghost Ship gradually surfaced, its Undrowned Undead, with a ferocious grin on its face, swimming up little by little under the cover of mist.
The battle has only just begun!
The unexpected appearance of the Arendelle fleet did not affect Soren's plans.
(P. S.: Three updates today, mwah!) (To be continued~^~)
