The Ice Genie's Test
Demigod Genie.
Elemental Hit Points forms are essentially any of the four elements that bear the title "Giant," possessing Divinity. However, the most active of the four elements are Fire Elemental Air Elemental, and Adventurer encounter Djinni most often. These are also the most interesting giants because Djinni like to ask questions or pose challenges to others. If you can answer Djinni's question correctly, you may receive its help or even a reward.
This applies to both good and evil, because Elemental Genie are generally Neutral beings.
This world contains some special Legendary Item.
It could be a magic bottle or a magic lamp, containing sealed or imprisoned Demigod Genie. If you can find them, you can control the demigods and make them serve you, but there are corresponding rules.
Because Elemental Life have their own contracts, Demigod Genie rarely interfere in the affairs of mortals.
It seems like there's no need for combat?
Upon hearing this, Soren stopped and turned to look at the distant Ice Genie, but did not approach, for Soren was a very cautious person.
"Yes."
He nodded slightly and said, "Your Excellency Kalonagus! It was I who released you!"
The Demigod Genie is very powerful.
Unfortunately, they also have a fatal weakness: they can be imprisoned by special means. Therefore, many Legendary Spellcaster have tried to imprison the giants.
The Ice Genie before us seems to be one of those that has been sealed away!
Soren carefully observed his opponent. Among Demigod- level enemies, the most difficult to deal with was the Demigod Lich. Although the Elemental Genie was much easier to challenge than the Demigod Lich, it was still a Legendary Hit Points with CR of 24 or higher. (Only by advancing to Legendary can one become Demigod.)
"Very good."
Kalonagus turned its massive body, frowning as it surveyed the area. It said in a deep voice, "I dislike the Material Plane. Mortal! I will soon return to the world of elements, so are you ready to face my test?"
test?
Soren paused for a moment upon hearing this, then asked, "What kind of test?"
Kalonagus stared at Soren before him and said in a deep voice, "Even if you release me, I cannot let you take the Elemental Crystal at will, nor can I break the contract to give you a reward."
"Every seal will one day be broken."
"The one who breaks the seal must pass a test to take it away! Of course, you can try to escape! But according to the contract, you would have to defeat me first."
At this point, the Ice Genie raised his hand and pointed forward, whereupon the distant ice and snow cracked and instantly turned into a massive avalanche, blocking the way out of the valley. This sight made Soren's eyes narrow with alarm, because if he had tried to escape, he might have been buried in the snow, though not necessarily in Hit Points danger. His escape plan would certainly have failed.
"Alright."
The Demigod Genie Kalonagus frowned as he looked at the sun, then said, "Mortal! I don't have much time to waste, so prepare to accept my test now."
"I'm going to ask you some questions!"
Please choose your answer carefully, as it will determine what you face next.
It gazed at Soren before it and said in a deep voice, "Then! Mortal! If you were trapped in a dungeon, there would be a button before you. If you pressed it, you would be saved, but an innocent person would die."
What would you choose?
Upon hearing this, Soren frowned, glanced at the Ice Genie before him, and said in a deep voice, "I will press it."
"Very good."
Kalonagus nodded, his expression unreadable, then asked, "Because you pressed the button, an innocent person died. Although you escaped the dungeon, you've encountered an incredibly powerful Demon, one you can't defeat. However, you found your former companions in other dungeons. If you combine everyone's strength, you might be able to defeat this powerful Demon, but more likely, you'll all die here. However, you can also persuade others to help you hold off the Demon, and as a Rogue, Demon can easily escape."
What would you choose?
Upon hearing this, Soren frowned even more deeply. He placed his hand on the hilt of Icetail's sword without anyone noticing, and then said in a deep voice, "I will choose to fight."
The Ice Genie's smile suddenly became somewhat amused.
With a gentle wave of his hand, a twenty-sided die appeared, its numbers ranging from 1 to 20. Kalonagus stared at Soren and said in a deep voice, "Do you know about the War Chess of the Arcane Empire?"
"To defeat an enemy that is virtually invincible, you need absolute luck."
The ice dice spun rapidly.
Then it fell to the ground with a thud, the numbers on it rolled over, and finally showed 20.
"It looks like Goddess of Fortune is on your side!"
Kalonagus's expression was somewhat indifferent as he continued in a deep voice, "Congratulations! You have killed this incredibly powerful Demon. You and your companions have been rescued, and as a reward for defeating the Demon, you have received a large fortune."
The Ice Genie raised its hand and waved it gently.
Then a pocket of Dimensional Space appeared in front of him, and then pieces of azure gems fell out from it, exactly twenty pieces, all of which were placed in front of Soren.
The Demigod Genie glanced at the astonished Soren, his expression playful. "Mortal! This is an ice crystal from the Elemental Plane, a very rare and expensive gemstone, and a reward you deserve."
"But!"
At this point, Kalonagus paused, then continued in a deep voice, "It's not over yet."
"As you defeated this powerful Demon, you discovered that this dungeon is an extremely complex Maze. Beside the Demon's corpse, you saw something that came from the most important person in your heart."
"The person you care about most seems to be trapped in the dungeon too!"
Soren's expression changed slightly, while the Demigod Ice Genie's expression remained amused as he said in a deep voice, "You're preparing to enter the dungeon again to find the person you care about most."
"But your team has encountered a split."
"Some of our comrades, after what could be described as a lucky victory, felt they should leave first, rather than putting everyone in danger for the sake of one person."
"Half of the people support you and are willing to follow you back to the dungeon."
"The other half opposes you and is preparing to leave to find a safer way out."
"But at that moment, a Devil phantom appeared, accusing you with words that seemed to see right through you. It told the others that your initial plan was to release them to delay the Demon, and then prepare to escape yourself."
Your companion believed it.
"Because the Devil's words are so seductive, you have ended up all alone, and your companions have decided to leave."
"At this time."
"What will you choose? Will you join them in searching for an exit from this dungeon Maze? Or will you return to that dark and dangerous cave to find the person most important to you who might be trapped here?"
Soren looked up at the Demigod Ice Genie and said without hesitation, "I will choose to go back and find the most important person to me."
The words had barely left his mouth.
The Demigod Djinni nodded, then raised his hand and waved it, and some monster phantoms appeared out of thin air in front of him.
"Very good."
Kalonagus continued in a low voice, "You chose to return to the depths of the dungeon, while your companions went to find an exit from here."
"It's quite dangerous here."
"Because you have just encountered a Demon that you could hardly defeat. Soon, you will encounter a new enemy!"
"A Toughness Minotaur Warrior!"
Spell magic began to shine.
The Demigod Ice Genie seemed to cast some kind of Summoning Spell, and a phantom of the Abyss appeared before it. Then, a Toughness Minotaur, three meters tall and clad in full armor, appeared, wielding a battle axe weighing over 300 pounds. After appearing, it roared at Soren and swung its massive battle axe down.
Unfortunately.
Kalonagus seemed quite interested, continuing in a low, almost narrative voice, "You've encountered a Minotaur from the Abyss. It may not be as powerful as the first Demon, but it's still quite formidable."
Rumble!
The ice on the ground was cleaved by the battle axe. Soren leaped away to dodge the enemy's attack, and at the same time drew his Scimitar, Icetail, with a clang.
This test seems to be getting interesting!
In his past memories, it seemed that only a very few Demigod Genie could accomplish this and transform a simple problem into the present situation, and one of them seemed to have the three notes 'Nagord' in its name.
Clang!
Soren parried the Abyssal Minotaur's attack with his sword, but the immense force forced him back three steps. Then, with a whirlwind, he swung his sword, carving a gash into the Minotaur's sturdy armor.
CR 15 or higher!
This is a Demon Minotaur was teleported here using a mid-to-high-level Summoning Spell. There are many such Minotaur in the Abyss, because one of the most powerful Demon Lord is Minotaur.
Roar!
A deep, muffled roar resounded.
The Abyssal Minotaur stomped its foot on the ground, unleashing a shockwave that swept outwards. Then, it locked onto Soren's location with its crimson pupils and swung its heavy battle axe down once more.
--"Shadow Assassination!"
--"Sword Momentum: Decapitation!"
A cold glint flashed in Soren's eyes, and his figure suddenly swooped down, flashing past like a phantom in an instant, before his Scimitar Icetail slashed across the throat of the Abyssal Minotaur.
Thump!
A headless corpse fell to the ground, and Soren stood there expressionlessly, sheathing his sword.
