Anti-Detection Cloak
The spoils they acquired spurred the others to become much more proactive.
After dismantling the body of the Superior Construct Golem, Soren began surveying the surrounding terrain. Many areas had collapsed and been buried, and the only passage pointed north, which was not where Soren intended to go. The underground ruins were vast, after all, it was a sunken city, but the area that could be explored was limited unless a large number of people were deployed to excavate the city. Such an undertaking would be difficult even in the 21st century, so the exploration of the ruins was mainly focused on the core area.
"Get the workers down."
Soren surveyed the surrounding terrain, then stood before a thick wall and said in a deep voice, "Breaking through here should allow us to enter. Have them bring tools down and dig little by little. We can't use gunpowder to blast this open."
The lights in the square were already very strong.
The torches illuminated the area, and they had basically wiped out all the monsters.
The Eastern Dancer quickly went up to call the workers down, and after a while, dozens of workers timidly descended the ropes. They glanced around, their faces still showing fear, but at this point, they had no choice. Under the orders of their professional, the workers began to dig into the side wall. The rhythmic hammering echoed within the underground ruins, as if the tremors had disturbed something. From the depths of the ruins came a slight tremor, and a kind of soul-penetrating aura.
Balor (CR 27)!
The Balor, sealed deep within the underground ruins, sensed the tremors above, but it was unable to leave the seal's range. Only Soren and the Eastern Dancer knew what lay below, but they wisely remained silent, as it was best not to let others know about such a being. The workers, startled by the slight disturbance, stopped in fear, but were quickly urged to resume their work; Soren couldn't afford to linger there.
"There seems to be something here!" the Bearded General Dwarf Warrior muttered.
The Eastern Ronin glanced at him and said in a deep voice, "There's definitely something down there. We'd better hurry."
It took about an hour and a half.
They finally carved out a passage. Unlike the plaza, the space inside was very narrow, with dilapidated buildings supporting the gaps, and in many places only wide enough for one person to pass through. Soren, naturally, led the way, his primary objective being to obtain the [Anti-Detection Cloak]. Therefore, he proceeded directly towards the general area. This Legendary Equipment was stored in a special room, its former owner likely a powerful professional, where a formidable monster now lurked.
This monster once wiped out the entire Adventurer team that first explored this place!
later.
Adventurer finally figured out a way to deal with it.
Since Soren has come here, he must know how to kill it, but it may require paying a small price.
The rugged path gradually widened.
This meant Soren had entered another area, presumably the city's aristocratic residential district. Even in its dilapidated state, the architecture was still exquisite, with many Marble pillars nearby. The most striking feature of this area was a tall house, one of the few remaining relatively intact structures. From its side, three Steel Golem could be seen, their surfaces heavily corroded, suggesting they were lower-end Puppet Golem, completely rendered unusable due to the loss of their power source.
"Careful!"
Soren glanced around and said in a deep voice, "There seems to be the aura of the Undead here."
Upon hearing his words, everyone else present became alert.
There are indeed Undead here.
However, these were no ordinary Undead; Soren knew what was there before he arrived.
--Ancient Mummy [Challenge Rating 18]!
Mummy.
A common type of monster among Undead creatures. Some are man-made Mummy, while others are naturally formed Mummy for various reasons.
Deserts are the places where Mummy are most likely to be found.
These Undead creatures aren't difficult to deal with. An average Adventurer party could easily take them down.
But!
If an Undead creature has the word "[Ancient]" above its head, then it is quite difficult to deal with.
"Ancient Mummy [Superior Undead] (Tier 5)."
"Challenge Rating 18, Personal Level 22, Possesses Spell-like Ability."
"Highest attribute: 25 points. Lowest attribute: 15 points. Total attribute value: 100-115 points."
"Special Feat: Superior Undead Trait, Negative Energy Erosion, Spell-like Ability, Immunity to Ordinary Weapons."
Difficulty level: b+.
What wiped out the first group of Adventurer to explore this place was an ancient Mummy, a powerful Undead created by the unique geographical environment.
Soren cautiously surveyed his surroundings.
He knew there was an ancient Mummy here, but he didn't know exactly where it was hiding.
The group spread out to form a defensive formation, slowly approaching the building in front of them. They couldn't tell where it connected to the outside, but there was a slight breeze and a faint, chilling feeling.
Call!
A strange figure swept across the darkness ahead.
Soren tensed instantly, gripping his Scimitar Icetail tightly, and said in a deep voice, "There's a monster nearby!"
A faint, sliver of light.
It's unclear whether the Icetail Scimitar something or was stimulated by some aura, but the blade of this Legendary Scimitar emitted a faint light as if it had encountered ice.
This is a weapon warning!
Since the Legendary Scimitar Icetail was awakened, it seems to have acquired some special uses.
Extinguish the flames.
It emits a dazzling silver light when exposed to temperatures below zero.
And it can issue an alert when there are Evil creatures nearby.
"Careful."
The others gripped their weapons nervously, many glancing at Soren's Scimitar, some even showing a fleeting glint of greed in their eyes. After all, Legendary weapons were extremely rare, and Soren's Scimitar was fine if left unused, but once activated, it would immediately reveal its Legendary Tier.
Call!
The eerie wind sound reappeared.
A shadow flashed in the darkness. The ancient Mummy was different from other Undead. It Undead actually quite fast. At its level, it was Legendary Tier monster, no longer restricted by mummified Undead. In fact, it was immune to attacks from ordinary weapons. Fortunately, none of the professionals present were equipped with basic gear.
"It's Mummy!"
The Eastern Dancer reached down and picked something up from the ground. Her expression changed slightly as she said, "This fell from its body."
A crumpled, dry strip of cloth.
I don't know how long it's been stored, but it has a very unpleasant smell.
"It must be a high-ranking Mummy!"
The desert warrior knew quite a bit about Mummy; he guessed he'd encountered some before. He immediately said in a deep voice, "With that kind of speed! They won't be so easy to deal with!"
The Mummy was in no hurry to launch an attack.
It seems to be quite intelligent, as it actually knows that the Adventurer party in front of it is not so easy to deal with.
Soren's gaze shifted, and he immediately said in a deep voice, "You all stay where you are and be on guard. I'll go and lure it out."
--"Hide from Gaze."
His figure gradually disappeared into the darkness. However, he was not searching for traces of the ancient Mummy, but rather stealthily making his Stealth towards the building ahead.
That's where the Legendary Equipment [Anti-Detection Cloak] is located.
Soren came here for this piece of equipment, which is undoubtedly Artifact- tier artifact for Rogue. Now that he has found its location, getting his hands on it is the most important thing.
Upon hearing Soren's words, the others immediately formed a defensive formation.
He carefully made his way in, then stealthily slipped into the room through the broken window. He remembered this place clearly: there was a hidden room inside, and the [Anti-Detection Cloak] was stored in a box within. However, the box had a Spell Trap on it; forcibly activating it would trigger a [Disintegrate] spell.
no way.
This is a relic from the Arcane Empire era. The traps on it are all of a very high level; even Soren at his peak would have had difficulty dispelling them.
However, it's not entirely hopeless!
Knowing what type of trap it is makes it much easier to break free.
Squeak.
A slight noise was heard.
Soren quietly entered the dark room, where a multitude of items immediately came into view. The bookshelves were reduced to dust by time, but the other well-preserved items were mostly Transcendent Tier. These included Alchemy implements, some unknown potions, a dark blue robe (a mage's robe), and a staff of a special texture, among others. The most eye-catching item was undoubtedly the chest in the corner, the most valuable thing in the vicinity, and the only Legendary Equipment.
The chest has a special Enchantment Craft.
Even after thousands of years, it remains intact.
Silvery-white metal.
The surface has strange patterns, which are burned magic runes. Any attempt to forcibly destroy the box will activate the Spell Trap on it, making this treasure chest very difficult to open by brute force.
In the past, Adventurer teams that discovered it could not dispel the Spell Trap, so they had to have Warrior smash it open directly.
The last Warrior was dismantled!
--"Disintegrate [6th-Level Spell]!"
"Disintegrate [Transmutation School]: After casting this Spell, a green beam of light will be fired at the target, dealing up to 240 Spell damage! It can directly disintegrate Hit Points matter and affect field effects. Any enemy hit by Disintegrate must undergo a mandatory Saving Throw throw. If the Saving Throw throw fails, the enemy may be disintegrated; if it succeeds, the damage will be reduced."
This Spell Trap is extremely high level!
The Warrior who activated it was a high-level Warrior, around class level 16, but in an instant, he and his equipment were dismantled.
Even now, Soren isn't entirely confident he can withstand a direct confrontation.
but.
The Disintegrate has a drawback: it only works on the first target hit.
Soren has virtually no way to dispel this Spell Trap unless his Disarm Trap skill is over 200 points. So the only way to open this chest is to either use Disintegrate or dodge the attack by Extraplanar.
He spun around in one spot.
Then Soren subtly moved the bookshelf slightly, just enough to cast him into shadow, and then took an Alchemy Crystal in his hand.
1, 2, 3!...
Soren took a deep breath, then swung his Scimitar, Icetail, and smashed it directly onto the box in front of him.
Clang!
With a muffled thud, Soren abruptly released the Crystal in his hand, his figure blurring in the shadows before reappearing a meter away.
--"Shadow Jump!"
A green beam of light appeared and struck the spot where Soren had been standing in the blink of an eye. Then, the Crystal he had released was instantly disintegrated, disappearing without a trace as if ice and snow were melting away.
"It's broken!"
A strange wind blew outside, attracting the attention of the ancient Mummy wandering outside. Without thinking twice, Soren smashed open the box in front of him and, without even looking at the other items, grabbed a black cloak and put it on.
[Anti-Detection Cloak]!
I've finally taken the lead! I've obtained this piece of equipment, which is undoubtedly Artifact- tier artifact for Rogue!
Item type: Anti-Detection Cloak
Item Tier: [Tier 3 Legendary Item]
Item Description: This is a legendary cloak! Anyone who wears it will be undetectable by any Spell after entering Stealth Invisibility State. It grants immunity to all detection Spell; unless one possesses an innate ability to see through invisibility, even Avatar of Deity cannot detect the wearer through detection Spell. However, it is not omnipotent. While this legendary cloak grants immunity to detection Spell, it cannot conceal other Stealth while in Invisibility State.
Equipment requirements: None.
Equipment effect 1: Stealth +30.
Equipment Effect 2: [Anti-Detection Field], grants immunity to any Spell that Detect Invisibility; no enemy can break the Invisibility State of the wearer of this Legendary Equipment with Spell.
Soren's figure vanished into the shadows.
This Legendary Equipment doesn't offer many additional abilities; besides an ' Anti-Detection Field,' it only adds 30 points to Stealth.
However, this was already a significant blow to Soren!
After donning the cloak, he Stealth without a trace, seemingly merging completely into the darkness.
Click!
A slight noise was heard.
A shadow gradually approached from outside, and the figure of the ancient Mummy appeared outside the dark room. However, it did not find any trace of Soren and looked around blankly.
The Undead possess a certain degree of ability to sense invisibility!
However, after donning the Anti-Detection Cloak, only creatures with innate [True Seeing] can detect Soren's presence.
