Invisibility
Soren barely slept a wink all night.
He had been frantically analyzing the Invisibility, trying to fully internalize its Spell Formula. Invisibility was the most difficult 2nd-level Spell -2nd-level Spell, but also the most powerful. It not only made the Spellcaster invisible, but could also be applied to others, making them invisible as well. While invisible, the target would be completely unseen by the naked eye, but the sounds made and the traces left behind would still exist, allowing one to determine the target's approximate location.
"Invisibility [2nd-level Spell]: After using Invisibility, the target will disappear from sight unless they are a creature with the ability to see through invisibility or have been enchanted by Spell to Detect Invisibility. Attacking while invisible will cause the Spell to fail. Invisibility only deceives the eye; it cannot erase the sound emitted or eliminate traces of movement. While under the Invisibility spell, picking up an item will make that item invisible, and putting it down will make it reappear. Each point of Spell power lasts for 10 minutes and can be kept constant."
Soren is now a level five Wizard.
He possesses 5 points Spell Spell power from his class level and 5 points from his intelligence. If he were to cast Invisibility, it would last for 100 minutes, or about an hour and a half. This is definitely a considerable amount of time, and if used well, it could be extremely effective, allowing for easy escape in case of danger. Moreover, since he's taking Vivian to Falling Leaf City, they might encounter monsters along the way. If there are too many monsters to handle, he can cast Invisibility on Vivian, allowing her to hide to the side and avoid danger.
There are no monsters in the wilderness that can see through Invisibility. It's like adding a very safe layer of insurance.
Invisibility Potion and invisibility scrolls are among the most commonly used items by Rogue. When combined with Stealth, theft, and Backstab, they can be extremely effective for both stealing wealth and assassinating targets. They are especially successful when stealing. Soren himself was able to become wealthy and escape the Slums by obtaining a bottle of Invisibility Potion, thus joining the ranks of Adventurer on the path to a comfortable life.
The Invisibility Potion lasts for one hour and is worth approximately 200 Gold Daler.
This potion is quite rare, Rogue manage to get their hands on it usually use it on important targets, or Stealth into the noble district at night to steal big. With a bit of luck, they can steal thousands of Gold Daler worth of wealth in an hour. However, they must be careful to avoid those who are obviously not to be trifled with, as the houses of the great nobles have many Alarm Device. They generally focus on stealing the wealth of the middle and lower nobles. Occasionally, they might even steal valuable jewels and works of art.
The most famous case at the time was that a guy stole 50,000 Gold Daler antiques, and was wanted by the entire South for a long time.
Soren didn't mind stealing.
If necessary, he would definitely return to his old ways without any psychological barriers. Invisibility was the most useful Spell, and after so many days of research and analysis, he had completed about 60% of the Spell's progress. This was mainly because he had increased his Knowledge skill to 115 points, and combined with his experience and Intelligence bonuses, his Spell learning speed was significantly faster than before. If nothing unexpected happened, he could complete the analysis of the Invisibility Spell in a maximum of two days.
Then he will be able to memorize two Invisibility. With more than three hours of invisibility time each day, he will have enough time to do many things.
Low-level Wizard have very few Spell Slot.
Due to the limitations of the Weave, most Wizard had roughly the same number of Spell Slot; intelligence only affected the strength of Spell, the maximum level of Spell that could be used, and the speed and number of Spell that could be memorized. It wasn't until the Weave network collapsed that exceptionally talented Wizard were truly liberated, able to significantly increase the power and quantity of their Spell. Currently, half the power of every Spell cast is absorbed by the Weave and transformed into the power of the Goddess of Magic. Most of this power is used to maintain the Weave's operation, with a small portion used to enhance her Divine Power.
Soren currently has a total of 6 0-level Spell slots, 4 level 1 Spell Slot ( with the Ring of Wizardry adding 1), 2 level 2 Spell Slot, and 1 level 3 Spell Slot.
In other words, after one memorization, he can cast a total of 13 Spell. Among them, Level 0 Cantrip are equivalent to the Wizard Level plus 1, Level 10 Wizard has 11 0-level Spell slots. Calculating the other Spell Slot is more complicated, and it's unclear how the Goddess of Magic originally designed the Weave system. Soren can only roughly calculate his maximum Spell Slot. Many Spell used by Wizard require equipment to stack, and many high-level Supernatural Item can add additional Spell.
As long as the Weave exists, the Goddess of Magic has the final say on casting Spell. When she loosens her grip on the Weave Weave, Wizard can cast more Spell; when she tightens her grip, they can Spell fewer. Therefore Wizard, since the beginning of the Time of Troubles, the Goddess of Magic has faced numerous attacks, including from Legendary Wizard actively sought to destroy the Weave system and remove the restrictions on their abilities. However, the cost was severe; many Wizard lost their spellcasting abilities.
"Call!"
Soren rubbed his forehead, washed his face with water, and then drew his Scimitar to practice the White Raven Tactics.
As his professional level increased, his energy also grew stronger; he could go several days without sleep without much trouble. The progress in mastering the White Raven Swordplay was slow; these combat skills required relentless practice. He currently had over 5000 Slaughter Experience points, enough to directly upgrade his Rogue or Wizard Level if he wanted. However, Soren wanted to see if he could trigger an advanced class, mainly because an advanced class would grant a significant power boost.
Stalker gains 10 points in Stealth and 10 points in Detection; a Master Thief gains 10 points in Lockpicking and 10 points in Traps; Bounty Hunter gains 10 points in Search and a Tracking Feat, and so on. Advanced classes enhance the existing class level, usually emphasizing a specific ability; however, the cost is significantly higher Slaughter Experience required to advance to the next advanced class level. Advancing to the next level alone requires 5000 Slaughter Experience, and subsequent advancements in advanced classes generally require exponential increases.
Advanced professions have basic skill requirements, but also require some special conditions.
Currently, the easiest class for Soren to advance to is the Stalker, requiring only 150 points in the Stealth skill to potentially unlock the advancement requirements. However, he still wants to see if he can unlock other advanced classes, such as the Dodge Shadow Dancer, which requires mastering the Dodge Feat, and the Bounty Hunter, which requires expertise in tracking. These advanced classes will have very powerful extensions after entering the Legendary Domain. The most outstanding among them is the Bounty Hunter, who can apply a Mind Mark to their targets after reaching Legendary.
Then, when activating a special skill, they can traverse a portal through the Shadow Plane and appear out of thin air behind their opponent!
Their assassination skills are basically on par with Legendary Assassin.
Without the part-time Wizard role, Soren would undoubtedly have Stalker to the Rogue class. However, with the added benefit of the Invisibility, the need for this Stalker has been greatly reduced. The Invisibility, and future Greater Invisibility Spell, can completely replace the extra abilities gained by Stalker while in Stealth. Therefore, Soren's current focus is on further enhancing his burst combat capabilities. Currently, Assassin, Shadow Dancer, and Bounty Hunter are his priority advancement choices, as all three classes possess formidable combat abilities.
"Assassin must have Feat in making poisons to learn Alchemy."
Soren sheathed his Scimitar and stretched, then headed into the room to buy some odds and ends. "The Shadow Dancer's Dodge requirements are very high, and my Dodge skills are probably still lacking. While Bounty Hunter will have extremely powerful tracking abilities later on, the combat power gained before reaching the Legendary Domain isn't great, and there are still many prerequisites."
"Now we just have to see which advancement condition we meet first."
Wizard are always very busy.
Soren went to the Arcane Shop and bought parchment, ink, quills, gem powder, and other items—tools used only by Wizard, not ordinary people. He also bought himself dinner and began copying scrolls based on the Spell he remembered. This was Wizard's most important ability and the guarantee of their strongest combat power; its only drawback was that it was extremely expensive.
It cost a total of over one hundred Gold Daler.
After returning to his room, Soren began Scroll Scribing. He memorized four Magic Missile Spell, allowing him four attempts at copying the scrolls. Initially, Scroll Scribing was almost guaranteed to fail, but the process would improve his basic skills. As his Scroll Scribing skill improved, the success rate would increase, eventually allowing him to attempt copying higher-level Spell Scroll. As a mage, it was essential to have a few scrolls on hand for protection.
Two hours passed quickly.
Unsurprisingly, Soren failed. He failed to copy the first Magic Missile Spell Scroll, losing about twenty Gold Daler materials but gaining 2 points of the Scroll Scribing skill. He wasn't surprised by the failure, rested briefly, and then continued copying. Finally, on the third Spell Scroll, he successfully completed one.
Over a hundred Gold Daler were exchanged for an Magic Missile scroll, which then increased the Scroll Scribing skill by 12 points.
Failure only grants 2 skill points, while success yields 6.
"Looks like his focus skill is still not high enough." Soren put away the Spell Scroll he had successfully copied, and then packed his things to go see Vivian. Copying 1st-level Spell can be upgraded up to 50 points of the Scroll Scribing skill. After that, you need to copy higher-level Spell. Copying Ninth-Circle Spell scrolls requires more than 400 points of the Scroll Scribing skill.
He sighed, glanced at the scrapped materials, and muttered, "Spellcasting Class really cost a fortune! And we haven't even started researching Alchemy yet! Looks like I'll have to pull off a heist after learning Invisibility."
As a Rogue.
Stealing is a normal thing to do. Soren looked at his remaining wealth and finally decided to do one last job in the noble district before leaving.
