Divine Son!
The cool moonlight spilled across the plain...
Soren leaned against the carriage, dozing with his eyes half-closed. This was already the edge of the area, and even though it had been cleared, the ever-cautious Soren dared not let his guard down for a moment. He deeply understood that the reason he had been able to reach the Legendary Domain was because he had always maintained vigilance. The caravan's mistress left the carriage and walked around, faint Spell Aura appearing on the surface. When she returned, she glanced at Soren and said softly, "Rest for a bit. I've set up Spell defenses."
This is the benefit for the Spellcaster.
Soren nodded slightly, glanced into the distance, and said meaningfully, "Thank you."
The caravan's mistress paused for a moment, then shook her head and said, "Just call me Goria. My tone might have been a bit harsh at first. You probably have your reasons, though you've always been unwilling to tell me."
The Northern Witch before me was somewhat different.
Soren had seen many Spellcaster. High-level Spellcaster were often eccentric and arrogant, like Goria's mother, who exemplified the typical Spellcaster attitude: respect for the strong, but complete disregard for the weak. But Goria was clearly different. She and her mother were complete opposites. If it weren't for their striking resemblance, Soren would have seriously doubted their mother-daughter relationship. Vivian breathed evenly inside the carriage; the little girl was exhausted after a long day's journey.
The horses were unusually quiet due to the Spell; a simple Charm Animal Spell could make them obedient. Goria hesitated for a moment, then sat down next to Soren and said softly, "You're different from other people I've met. As a Rogue, your knowledge is vast, perhaps even surpassing some Wizard. However, you can be quite stubborn at times, even reminding me of the Monk I've met before. They were also very obstinate fellows."
Is this an attempt to ease tensions?
Soren turned to look at her, though all he could see were her beautiful eyes. He toyed with a Gold Daler, the shimmering gold dancing between his fingers, and said slowly, "You're different from the Witch I've met before. In my experience, they're all proud women. You know, the tavern once ranked the three most difficult women to deal with. The first was the Drow, the second was the Amazon Warrior, and the third was you Northern Witch."
Goria gave a strange look and said, "Really? So this is how people see the Northern Witch?"
She clearly rarely went to taverns; they were the most well-informed places, but also far too chaotic. Noble Spellcaster generally avoided such low-class establishments because they were truly wealthy. Just as the aristocracy, considering themselves of high blood, wouldn't mingle with Commoner, the hierarchy among professionals was also quite distinct. "Yes," Soren looked at the sky, the stars twinkling under the night sky, and said earnestly, "But you're different. You're easier to get along with than them. And of course, you're more beautiful."
The slight compliment made Goria's lips curl into a slight smile. She shook her head and was about to say something when she suddenly stood up in horror and looked up in the direction of White Horse City.
The distant horizon was suddenly ablaze with fiery red, a familiar sight that caused both of them to change their expressions drastically!
"Meteor Swarm?!"
Soren stared into the distance in disbelief, his expression frozen, whether from lingering fear or something else. They had just left Amber City, Amber City had been reduced to ruins by Meteor Swarm, and now they had just left White Horse City. Someone within White Horse City was already casting Epic Spell. He himself probably wouldn't believe it wasn't a coincidence, but Soren was also filled with doubt, for he didn't know why such a thing was happening...
"The Spell failed!"
The fiery red clouds on the horizon gradually dissipated, and Goria's expression became extremely solemn. She said in a deep voice, "Someone interrupted the other party's spellcasting."
White Horse City is not Amber City.
Amber City is a relatively new city built along the river, and its foundation isn't yet very strong. White Horse City, however, has stood for a long time; its founders were even Legendary Professional successfully Dragon Slayer. Such powerful Spell fluctuations couldn't possibly go unnoticed by the guardians. If a high-level Spellcaster teleports in to interrupt, the Spell can be stopped, because higher-level Spell take longer to cast, especially large-scale area-of-effect Spell.
"You still aren't going to tell me?" Goria frowned, staring intently at Soren with a very serious expression. She said in a deep voice, "Is Vivian truly the Child of God?!"
Godsbane.
Such speculation had already crossed Goria's mind, after all, the little girl's talent was truly outstanding.
If a genius among mortals can possess 18 points of innate attributes, then even the most exceptional genius can only reach a maximum of 1 point in the Transcendent Realm.
But Vivian's talent is beyond measure.
Soren has some Half-Elf blood, giving him a natural advantage in agility. His father was a high-ranking Master Thief, so he likely inherited some of that ability. However, even with all these factors combined, his natural agility is only 18 points, making him a genius in that area. But what about Vivian's talent? She already has 1 point in Charisma upon awakening, directly breaking through to the Transcendent Realm. It would be impossible for Soren not to have the suspicion that she might be a Godsbane.
The key issue is that they are half-siblings, sharing the same mother but different fathers. Although Soren has guesses, it's difficult for him to be certain.
However, what he saw before him told him that if the initial probability that Vivian might have Godsbane blood was %, it had now increased to %.
Was Vivian's father really a Deity?
How could a Deity choose an ordinary human woman to bear his offspring? Just look at Soren's current abilities; his mother was definitely an ordinary human!
Because he has almost no special talent or bloodline.
Soren took a deep breath, his hand already resting on his Scimitar. He shook his head and said in a deep voice, "I don't know. Vivian and I are half-siblings. If she were truly Godsbane, I should have noticed long ago. But she doesn't possess any Divine Power. She's unlikely to be Child of God. I've met her biological father; he was merely a rather powerful Adventurer."
Goria's brows remained furrowed, but her expression softened somewhat. She asked, "Then why did you decide to leave at this time? Don't tell me it's all a coincidence?"
She glanced at Soren's hand gripping the Scimitar and said softly, "Even now you still can't trust me? Whether Vivian is Godsbane or not, I like this little girl very much. If anything really happens, I will stand by her side. Don't you intend to tell me anything yet?"
Soren hesitated for a moment before saying, "If I tell you this, can you keep it a secret?"
Goria nodded without hesitation and said solemnly, "I will absolutely keep it a secret."
"Very well." Soren took a deep breath, his expression extremely serious, but what he said was half true and half false. He said in a deep voice, "I once discovered a Lich's secret cave in Amber City. I even encountered an Abyss Marilith inside. From it, I learned a terrible Prophecy: the Gods will lose their Divine Power and eventually fall to the mortal realm. The Abyss and Hell will unleash endless Slaughter, and the followers of the Evil God will spread fear everywhere. The whole world will be plunged into war, and only the Land of Ice and Snow will be a temporarily safe place."
As Soren spoke, Goria had already secretly cast Detect Thoughts.
The Spell's effect wasn't absolute, but it could generally detect truth and falsehood. Her conclusion was that most of what Soren said was true. Although a small portion of his answers were vague, the vast majority of the information was accurate. He wasn't completely lying to her; the Spell's feedback told her that he was likely telling the truth. There were higher-level Spell that could Prophecy right and wrong, truth and falsehood, but those required the assistance of Deity. Now that the Gods were silent, the only usable Spell was an enhanced version of the lie Detect Thoughts.
How is that possible?
Will the Gods lose their Divine Power and fall to earth?
What will the mortal realm become then? A great war between the Gods?
Goria no longer had the energy to ponder which questions Soren had blurred. The information she had heard had already thrown her thoughts into disarray. She was, of course, aware of the Gods losing their connection; the inability of believers around the world to contact the Gods had caused considerable panic.
So what Soren said is very likely true!
What if the Gods really did fall to earth, and with the Abyss and Hell joining in, what chaos would the world become?
The Lich is basically Legendary Tier.
If this Prophecy came from a Lich, then it is very likely a Legendary level of Divination, with a probability of being correct of at least 90%.
"So that's why you insisted on going to the Elf' side, and then turning back to the Land of Ice and Snow?"
Goria remained silent for a long time before looking at Soren, unable to speak, "Then why is it such a coincidence that the Skinning Incident happened just as you were about to leave, and then White Horse City was attacked? There must be some connection between them. Either it's related to you and me, or it's related to Vivian."
Both of them couldn't help but look at the sleeping little girl. Both Soren and Goria believed they had little to do with these matters, so the most likely person was Vivian!
Could she really be Godsbane?
But why doesn't she possess any Divine Power? Why haven't I noticed any of it all these years?
White Horse City.
Several fires had already broken out in the bustling city. The figure of the gray-robed Wizard soared into the sky, and the sounds of continuous battle echoed on the ground. At the same time, in the very center of the city, a high-pitched dragon roar seemed to resound, and a dazzling light shot straight into the sky. Immediately afterward, a majestic Legendary Warrior in full blood-red heavy armor stepped out, holding a strange Longsword in his hand, which was burning with raging Flame.
"The Dragon-Slaying Sword!?"
A glamorous woman appeared in a corner, glanced over, and murmured, "Did that guy finally pull out that cursed weapon?"
"Forget it, never mind all that. I'll take this opportunity to get out of here. Those druids watching me seem pretty busy lately. Hehe. Looks like I really have to thank these troublesome Evil God cultists. Now I'm finally free!"
A Spell glow appeared, and the alluring woman vanished into thin air.
