Background / History

Dragon Island was disconnected from the Human World for an extended period. Its reappearance was foreshadowed after the Dragon God Temple emerged in Saint Blue, and later confirmed when Hell reported that the lost island would descend upon the Human World 125 139 288.

A projection of Dragon Island first appeared above the sea, surrounded by colorful mist and phantoms of Giant Dragons. The projection was not the island itself, but indicated that Dragon Island Appears had begun 303 304.

The island’s real location was eventually identified in the Dragon Domain. Lance and Lucia reached its concealed outer boundary on July 15 of Black Dragon Calendar 3457. After Lance defeated two Dragonkin guards, Dragon Island’s defense shield opened and allowed them inside 380 424 425.

Appearance and Environment

Dragon Island is not an ordinary island but a vast continent suspended in the void. It contains numerous smaller floating islands, skyborne rivers, divine trees, temples, forests, gardens, and enormous flowers inhabited by Flower Elves 425 426.

Distinguishing features include:

• Rivers flowing through the sky and around floating islands 425.
• Hundred-meter-tall trees and flowers as large as a Giant Dragon’s head 426.
• Large flowers that contain Flower Elf homes and businesses 426.
• Rainbows and multicolored bubbles that hatchlings chase during the day and glow at night 426 435.
• Dragon Blood Trees, a distinctive red-colored plant unique to Dragon Island 427.
• Temples, parks, Martial Arts Arenas, residential islands, commercial streets, and food streets 425 430 433.
• Unicorns, Sun Birds, fish, shrimp, turtles, and other mythical creatures living alongside the dragons 425 426.

The atmosphere is peaceful and harmonious. Pure-Blooded Dragons interact naturally with Flower Elves, buying goods and trading Gold Coins with them 426 433.

Society and Culture

Dragon Island has an organized society rather than functioning as a wild dragon habitat.

• Pure-Blooded Dragons maintain homes on independent floating islands or in other residences across the continent 426.
• Dragonkin patrol the island and use advanced Source Power armor and weapons 425.
• Martial Arts Arenas are used to settle conflicts between dragons and host frequent battles involving Young Dragons 430.
• Commercial and food streets sell weapons, books, food, fruit, honey, juice, roasted meat, and Chinese-style stir-fried dishes 430 433.
• Flower Elves operate shops selling goods such as honey, moisturizing lotion, face oil, and other beauty products 426 433.
• Elderly Dragonkin play Chinese Chess, while Giant Dragons also participate in everyday leisure activities 427.
• Dragon Island has a Patrol Team led by Captain Meredith, a Red Dragon related to Lance 426 427.

Defense and Technology

Dragon Island is protected by a concealed defensive shield integrated into the surrounding void. The shield can disguise the island completely from outsiders and can open a controlled entrance 425.

Its technology is based on advanced Source Power engineering:

• Dragonkin guards use armor equipped with transforming guns and cannons 425.
• The island’s military technology is advanced enough to rival the leading Alchemy Cities 425.
• Dragon Island possesses the Dragon God Cannon, described as a weapon capable of destroying stars 429.
• Dragon Island’s dragons also use Source Power technology in their patrol and military equipment 446.

Laws and Access

Wandering Pure-Blooded Dragons must meet several conditions to settle on Dragon Island:

1. Pass the Dragon Island Assessment.
2. Receive approval from the Dragon Kings of the various dragon clans.
3. Pay for a Dragon Nest or residence 425.

Dragon Island’s Code applies to the entire society. Damaging protected scenery, such as a Dragon Blood Tree, can result in a fine or, if the offender cannot pay, a day of labor as a cleaner or repairman. Serious crimes may result in imprisonment 428.

A Dragon Register functions similarly to a human identification card. Dragons without a Dragon Register cannot set up stalls on the island, while registered dragons may trade as long as their goods are not fraudulent 427 430.

Inhabitants

Dragon Island is inhabited primarily by:

• Pure-Blooded Dragons from multiple clans.
• Dragonkin guards and patrol members.
• Flower Elves.
• Unicorns.
• Sun Birds and other colorful divine birds.
• Various fish and aquatic creatures.
• Other mythical creatures living in the island’s forests, rivers, and gardens 425 426.

Young Dragons commonly play in the sky rivers, chase fish, interact with birds, and explore the island’s parks and natural areas 425.

Relationship with Lance and Lucia

• Lance — A member of the Dragon Island royal family whose Dragon Register was preserved in the island’s archives. His connection to Dragon Island was unknown to most residents until his register and lineage were revealed 427 429 431.
• Meredith — Captain of the Dragon Island Patrol Team and Lance’s maternal aunt. She welcomes Lance and Lucia and offers them the freedom to return to Dragon Island in the future 426 427 435.
• Lucia — Initially barred from entry because she was not yet a Pure-Blooded Amethyst Dragonling. After evolving, she is recognized as part of Lance’s family and welcomed by Dragon Island 425 435.
• Black Dragon Island — Although Lance gains legal recognition from Dragon Island, he considers Black Dragon Island his true home and does not initially intend to settle on Dragon Island 304 375 427.

Story Role

Dragon Island’s return reconnects the Human World with the wider Giant Dragon civilization. Its appearance renews the possibility of Dragon Knight Contracts and causes Pure-Blooded Dragons to travel through the Human World 288.

It also becomes the setting for Lance’s confrontation with Dragon society, the discovery of his royal lineage, and Lucia’s attempts to test herself against Dragon Island’s Young Dragons 353 380 425 429.
