Sea Clan Hybrids
The blue-skinned humanoid creatures that appeared before Saine must be the sea creatures from the Wizard World. →
Saine saw fin-like organs on their lower jaws.
However, not all sea creatures in the Wizard World are humanoid species like this.
The sea creatures have bizarre and varied appearances, and in terms of racial diversity, they are far more complex than the humans in the Wizard World.
Compared to the magical beasts or demi-humans on land, the sea creatures are actually the largest genetic treasure trove in the Wizard World.
In the depths of the ocean, there often dwell species from the ancient, or even Ancient Era, Wizard World.
In contrast, due to the overexploitation by Knight and Mage, the oldest species on the Wizard Continent can only be traced back to Ancient Era, and many of them are only hybrids.
These sea creatures, whose aesthetics and appearances are quite similar to those of humans in the Wizard World, should, strictly speaking, also be considered "hybrids," as they possess some of the genes of humans from the Wizard World.
According to records, the race that most resembles humans and is also the most beautiful in the Wizard World should be the Mermaid live in the depths of the sea.
But Saine couldn't see any beauty in these blue-skinned sea creatures in front of him, and they didn't have the iconic symbol of Mermaid —fish tails.
Their lower bodies have webbed feet similar to those of fish.
Saine scrutinized the blue-skinned sea creatures with a critical eye.
These sea creatures were also quite perceptive. After noticing Saine's gaze, one of the female sea creatures smiled slightly at him and bowed respectfully, which seemed to be some kind of special etiquette among the sea creatures.
Saine strode up to the sea creatures and looked down. He realized that what they were selling was a deep blue pearl.
These pearls, placed in bamboo strips, possess no Elemental Power.
Each pearl was perfectly round and translucent, and there seemed to be a small hole in the very center of each pearl.
When you look at these pearls, in addition to the reflection of a person on the surface of the pearl, a small human figure will also appear in the hole in the center of the pearl.
Saine knew, of course, that these pearls were not just ordinary decorations, because apart from him, the other people gathered around the stall were either magic apprentices or Knight Attendant; there were hardly any ordinary people among them.
These aquatic creature stalls are doing fairly well; they've already made another sale while Saine has been paying attention to them.
Saine noticed that the currencies accepted by these sea creatures were also Magic Coin and Energy Crystal.
And these pearls are indeed not expensive; one Magic Coin can buy 100 of them.
If sold individually, one low-grade Energy Crystal can be purchased.
As Saine approached, the female sea creature who had been smiling at him came to greet him. →
These sea creatures were all below level one in terms of Life Level, making them extremely weak beings. But somehow, they seemed to recognize Saine was using the Aura Concealment Technique.
The Aura Concealment Technique isn't low-grade either; it was found by Saine in his mentor's private library after he advanced one level.
Under normal circumstances, even Level-1 Magician of the same rank wouldn't be able to see through Saine's True Details so quickly.
Therefore, Saine's curiosity about these sea creatures intensified.
"What exactly is the purpose of these pearls?" Saine asked, pointing to the deep blue pearls in front of the stall.
"Respected Master, this is Oxygen-Absorbing Pearl cultivated by our Blue Shark People tribe. It can help land creatures stay in seawater for two hours," the female sea creature replied.
"Oh?" Saine looked at the pearls again with some interest.
Saine had seen quite a few of the aids for surviving in water at the Azure Source Holy Tower.
The outer perimeter of the Azure Source Holy Tower is the Jewel Sea Jewel Sea, where many aquatic creatures also inhabit.
However, the items that Saine had seen were all magical items, such as Water-Repelling Barrier and Oxygen-Rich Gem.
These deep blue pearls in front of me seem to have been cultivated from seashells.
And since there is no Element Power on the surface of pearls, perhaps those shells are just ordinary seashells.
The vast and boundless seas of the Wizard World indeed harbor countless rare and precious treasures that land creatures could never have imagined.
In terms of value alone, the abundance of the Wizard World's oceans is probably comparable to that of two or three Large World.
Out of curiosity and research interest, Saine bought 100 pearls in one go.
This is a huge order; the other magic apprentices lingering in front of this stall only buy one or two at most.
After flicking a Magic Coin to the sea creature in front of him, Saine didn't rush to count the pearls. Instead, he asked with interest, "You just said you're Blue Shark People?"
There was a hint of mockery and amusement in Saine's expression.
Clearly, lying to Level-1 Magician like him was pointless. The female sea creature bit her lip slightly, bowed to him again, and said, "We dare not deceive you, Master. We do come from the Blue Shark People tribe, but we are Half-Shark People within the tribe."
The difference between Blue Shark People and Half-Shark People is only one character, but they represent different things.
The former is a purely marine creature, belonging to the true sea creatures.
The latter is a hybrid of Blue Shark People, and can be considered a type of "subhuman".
Demi-humans have a tough time in the Wizard World, and many of these "Half-Shark People" hybrids are not naturally formed.
The Wizard World is not as wonderful as it is portrayed. It is indeed a powerful World Civilization, but darkness and shadows still exist in this world.
Black Magician are just one example, while these Half-Shark People hybrids are another.
On the South Coast of the Wizard World, poaching of sea creatures is a persistent problem.
Many Knight and Mage in the Wizard World, perhaps out of boredom or driven by self-interest, often set their sights on the sea creatures.
Mage mostly used them for Experimental Research.
After all, even Saine, upon first seeing these sea creatures, had a slight urge to dissect them and take a look.
This is purely Desire for exploration, and contains no bloodshed or dark psychology.
The Knight of the Wizard World are not as civilized or exploratory as the Mage.
Many Knight plundered sea creatures simply to satisfy their personal desires.
Perhaps it was their strong physique that gave those Knight of the first rank or above in the Wizard World an even stronger Desire.
It could also be due to their relatively long lifespan; many Knight, after getting tired of normal women, want to try something different.
They target not only humanoid beings from other worlds, but sometimes even sea creatures.
If the two people are truly in love, then it's fine.
However, the reality is that the emergence of many people of mixed human and non-human descent is often accompanied by a period of hardship and tragedy.
Compared to Knight and Mage who built powerful Wizard Civilization, the sea creatures, who relied on the sea for survival and mostly followed a passive evolutionary system, were ultimately a weaker group.
