The first batch of creatures to crawl out of the modification area lasted only a short while before abnormalities appeared. Their bodies already showed some Zerg traits, and the destruction fluctuations rippling around them were more intense than those of ordinary Zerg beasts of the same level.
But when Kerrygan's orders arrived, more than half of them failed to respond at all.
One individual close to her even snapped at a nearby mechanical device. Chains quickly pierced its shell, but the power that had just gathered inside it exploded on its own before the seal descended.
The destruction firelight struck the outer barrier, engulfing several nearby creatures that were equally unstable.
Saine raised a hand to suppress the disturbance, then collected the shattered remains one by one.
Kerrygan's gaze remained fixed on the last few individuals that had barely survived.
One had only taken half a step when a fissure opened across its back. Its Zerg tissue was still trying to repair its body, but the far more violent origin of destruction was already pouring out through the opening.
"It can't withstand it," Kerrygan said.
Watching the records change one after another before him, Saine nodded.
There was nothing wrong with this batch's power. At least when they first took shape, they had looked quite impressive.
But their internal structures had never stabilized.
After being introduced into the Mother Nest, the Zerg factors could participate in some of the gestation process, but they struggled to retain their original characteristics under the relentless scouring of such extreme origin of destruction.
The stronger they were, the faster they collapsed.
Rather than continuing to increase the supply of origin power, Saine first dampened several connections to the corresponding region of the Mother Nest and had Kerrygan select another batch of more suitable Zerg
