When Saine left the Destruction Time-Space, the Mechanical Engineering Platforms at the front had already advanced beyond the territory once occupied by the Erosion Abyss Mother Nest.
Vast swarms of newly born insects swept past the fleet's outer flanks, while black-red destruction firelight repeatedly flared in the distance. The destruction creatures that had yet to be cleared away still charged through the crystal tide toward the garrison, but fewer and fewer of them could get close.
Kerrygan remained stationed in the Destruction Time-Space.
There was still much for her to handle near the Mother Nest, and the newly formed insect swarms would need further screening in the wars to come.
"If anything changes, have the mechanical troops I've left behind contact me," Saine said.
Kerrygan nodded, then turned toward another wave of insect beasts pouring out from the Mother Nest.
Upon receiving their orders, they immediately headed for a fresh clash at the front. Their arrival freed up the nearby Mechanical Fleet, which had been preparing to send reinforcements, allowing it to move an unsecured Engineering Platform farther forward instead.
Saine glanced at them, then returned toward the Bronze Gate through the now-stable Cross-Dimensional Channel.
The changes to the Erosion Abyss Mother Nest were transforming the Destruction Star Zones under Locke's control.
Previously, after seizing a region, Locke had often needed to leave behind a portion of his will to continually suppress any disturbances in the origin nearby. Some positions were already in his grasp, yet he had been forced to abandon them temporarily because he lacked enough legions to hold them.
The situation had clearly improved considerably.
The insect swarms cleared the way, the Destruction Mech Soldiers followed to occupy key positions, and the Mechanical Engineering Legion linked together several nodes already under Locke's control.
