Plane Battlefield
The Darkness Sword Time-Space.
A Medium Plane world.
The sky of the Graythorn World has finally been torn open.
A dark red beam of light, falling from the outer reaches of the starry sky, pierced through the defensive barrier covering the plane. Several War Platform that had been hovering above the clouds then tilted in different directions.
One of them crashed directly into the mountain below.
Edson gripped his longsword and gazed at the increasingly bright sky.
He didn't know what level of powerhouse the beam of light came from.
But he knew the enemy was about to come in!
"Raise the front barrier!" Edson shouted.
This level three Dark Sword is a captain in the garrison guarding the outskirts of Black Rock City.
The largest number of his subordinates were not the level three creatures of his own caliber, but a large number of level one and two warriors. Even the armor they wore was only complete sets by the personnel responsible for guarding key positions.
A level one swordsman named Mik immediately ran to the corner of the wall.
He and the other defenders pushed up the heavy barrier, and the rows of energy emitters behind them were finally able to be aimed at the outside of the city.
Zelin, a level two swordsman, stuffed several Dark Crystal that had just been brought in into the bottom of the device.
The first to attack them were the Destruction Zerg Swarm.
Edson had seen enormous subterranean worms before.
There are many similar creatures in the deep mining areas of the Graythorn World.
But these things in front of him were clearly not the same as the demonic insects he had cleared from the mining area in the past!
Black and red carapaces appeared one after another in the smoke and dust. Before a beast could even crash into the city wall, dark red energy from its mouthparts was already sprayed out.
The Elemental Shield that had just risen on the wall suddenly caved inward.
Zelin immediately rotated the launching device.
A beam of black energy shot out from Edson's side, striking the insectoid beast in the neck. Its carapace cracked, and sticky insect blood splattered onto several of its kind that were charging forward nearby.
But they did not stop because of this.
Edson raised his longsword, and dense darkness gathered along the blade before slashing forward.
A worm-like beast that had already leaped over the barrier was sliced in half from the side by the sword light.
The severed forelimb slammed down at Mik's feet, startling the level-one swordsman who recoiled sharply.
"Don't stop!"
Edson no longer had time to look at him.
Another insectoid beast crashed into the shield.
The roar of the energy devices mingled with the hissing of the Zerg Swarm. Every time the defenders felled a group of enemies, more carapaces would emerge from the smoke and dust.
Mik plunged his longsword into the eye socket of an insectoid beast, but before he could pull it back, Destruction Breath from the other side pierced through the barrier in front of him.
His upper body, along with the longsword that had not yet been drawn, disappeared into the firelight.
Zelin's arm was also grazed by the residual force.
The level-two swordsman gritted his teeth and placed his trembling right hand back onto the energy device.
He and Mik came from the same mining town.
Just a few days ago, the two had discussed whether they could take a few crystals back with them after this round of conscription ended.
Now, Zelin can't even put away the things that Mik left behind.
He pressed the energy device down slightly, aiming it at the insectoid beast that had just crashed through the barrier.
A black beam of light pierced through the proboscis, and the gathering, Destruction Breath exploded within the insectoid beast's body.
The shattered shell caused the device to vibrate repeatedly, and Zelin's injured arm had almost lost all feeling.
Edson rushed over from the side and severed one of the insect's legs that was clinging to the outer wall of the device.
"Move to the back!"
Zelin did not leave immediately.
He readjusted the launch position before staggering back behind the second row of barriers.
There were originally more than a dozen soldiers guarding the area, but now only a few of them can stand up.
Edson ripped a still-functioning shield component directly from the wall and handed it to him.
Zelin looked at the flickering dark light above and grasped it with his still-functioning left hand.
When they first stormed the city wall, they thought they could at least hold out until the next troop rotation.
From the appearance of the first Zerg Swarm to the transformation of this battlefield into its current state, not even an hourglass has passed!
Outside the city walls, on the other side of the sky, the Level 3 Destruction Angel, Savien, had already seen the continuously lit energy emission devices.
His wings spread outwards, circling around a patch of burning smoke.
Several beams of Dark Energy followed immediately.
Instead of stopping mid-air to take the hits head-on, Savien slammed his body downwards. Two attacks swept past his head, while the other grazed his left wing.
Several feathers then fell off.
Dark red blood seeped out from the base of the feathers.
The Destruction Angel glanced down, then aimed his spear at the city wall.
He had participated in more than one devastating expedition.
Those legions left behind could, of course, wait for higher-level experts to resolve the situation here. But the Transport Base at the front had not yet been captured, and his team's mission was to stop these energy devices first.
Savien did not rush alone to the brightest launch pad.
He landed behind his own Zerg Swarm, pointing his spear to the side.
Several smaller insect-like creatures burrowed into the ground along the collapsed building.
The Dark Sword on the wall then saw another group of enemies charging straight at him.
Just as Edson unleashed his third sword strike, a violent tremor struck beneath his feet.
An energy emission platform collapsed from the bottom.
The guards who were filling the crystals were dragged away by the insect beasts that burst out of the ground.
"Behind!" Zelin shouted.
Edson turned and slashed at a worm-like beast, but at that moment, Savien flew up from the outside of the city wall.
The spear of destruction and the Darkness Long Sword collided head-on.
Edson stumbled back several steps.
He steadied his longsword again; most of the Dark Energy on the blade had been depleted. Savien's injured left wing also remained open, blood still dripping from its feathers.
Zelin inserted the last crystal into the device and fired an energy beam at close range.
Savien immediately turned, but his shoulder still bore a scorch mark.
The Destruction Angel has temporarily withdrawn from the city walls.
Edson, however, was not able to breathe a sigh of relief.
Holding onto this section is no longer of much use.
Further away, two tall towers leading into the city simultaneously lit up with evacuation signals.
"Abandon the outer perimeter and retreat to the northern transport station!"
The new command appeared on Edson's communication device at his waist.
He looked down at the still-operating launchers at his feet, then looked into the city.
A transport ship that was originally anchored in the north has risen up.
Several trucks that hadn't had time to be loaded into the hold were still hanging on the outside of the ship.
The crowd below was continuously surging towards that direction.
Edson pulled Zelin up and, with the remaining garrison soldiers still able to move, retreated down the broken stone steps.
He did not turn back to look for Mik.
A collapsed roof stood blocking the way at the end of the stone steps.
Edson cleaved one section in two consecutive strikes, and some of the remaining Dark Energy was also consumed in this burst of power.
Zelin held up his shield to block the falling rocks from above.
This component was originally part of the city wall's defensive structure, but now, holding it in his hands, it has become the only thing that allowed several wounded soldiers nearby to survive and pass through here.
Some people pushed their way ahead of them, trying to get there first and run north.
Edson did not stop him.
The Zerg Swarm behind him had already crossed the stone steps; he only had time to pull the last-placed level-two swordsman Kedelin, to his side.
Kedelin's helmet was shattered and blood flowed down to his chest, yet he still clung tightly to the broken sword.
Edson broke the broken sword in half and made him hold the wound.
As the group circled the collapsed buildings, they spotted the last flag on the city wall, its flagpole severed by the Destruction Breath.
Below the city wall, several ferocious insect-like beasts were prying open the broken barriers to both sides.
When Savien took off again, he saw a city where people had already begun to evacuate.
He did not chase after the densest part of the crowd.
The legion's orders came from afar, instructing them to first control the southern road and cut off the resources still being transported there.
The Destruction Zerg Swarm it.
Several transport wagons loaded with Dark Crystal were blocked in the middle of the road. The creatures guarding the convoy tried to set the cargo on fire, but were overturned by swarming insectoid beasts just as the flames rose.
Savien pressed his spear down, and the black and red energy pierced directly through the last launching device.
The Destruction Legion's transport markers then lit up on the road.
More angels began to descend from the sky.
For a moment, it shone as brightly as Black Sun!
When Edson and Zelin arrived in the north, the area in front of the transport station was already packed with people.
Some were garrison soldiers who had retreated from outside the city, some still wearing the rough, worn clothes they wore while working in the mines. They pushed goods and wounded soldiers, trying to enter the same narrow entrance.
Above the transport platform, another ship began closing its hatches.
Edson pushed Zelin toward the boarding stairs, then turned toward the pursuing Zerg Swarm.
The level three Dark Sword had very little energy left to use.
He gripped his sword and took two steps forward.
Just as the first insectoid beast opened its mandibles, a darkness far deeper than the surrounding night suddenly spread out from outside the city.
The Destruction Breath spewed by the insectoid beast began to dim rapidly before it even reached the transport platform.
In the sky, Savien abruptly stopped his forward momentum.
His injured left wing seemed to be held back by some unseen force.
A figure slowly appeared in the center of the darkness.
"Nohe Noch!" Zelin's voice called from behind Edson.
That was a Level-4 lifeform from the Graythorn World.
The power of the laws continued to spread outwards, and the lower-level legions that had been fighting each other were directly separated on both sides.
Nohe did not look at the corpses on the city wall.
His gaze fell upon a dark red figure approaching from a distance.
