What Makes a Person?
Saine didn't recognize most of the City of Mozhsuobula civilians pleading for Saine.
Only the few in the very front row, Saine vaguely remembered, were the Underground Human he had encountered when he was carrying out the Blue Jaw Feather mission.
At the time, for Saine, it was nothing more than giving away some of the flesh and blood of the Blue Jaw Feather, which he could hardly carry, to these humans.
But for these humans, the timely appearance of that batch of Blue Jaw Feather flesh and blood saved nearly a thousand people from starving to death.
Just as Saine had thought, these Underground Human were unwilling to eat the flesh and blood of Demonized Creature.
They sold almost all of the Blue Jaw Feather's flesh and blood to buy back cheaper edible moss from the ground, thus surviving the harsh period when crops were destroyed.
Inspired by these hundreds of ordinary people, more and more ordinary people who had received favors at the time moved closer to this Saine's side.
The City of Mozhsuobula has a population of 300,000. As the Black Magician are about to be wiped out, these Underground Human will also be "liberated".
They will then be transported back to the Surface World by the Knight and Mage of these Holy Tower and Knights' Hall in airships.
While it's not necessarily true that these high-ranking Knight and Mage are genuinely concerned about the lives of ordinary people, this is still part of the mission to eliminate the Black Magician.
Once the mission is completed, both the Holy Tower and the Knights' Hall will record it and assess their success in the mission to eliminate the Black Magician.
Three hundred thousand civilians—that's a lot! As these people swarmed towards this Saine's side, a few Knight who didn't know the truth thought that so many humans had received help from Saine.
In fact, the human community in City of Mozhsuobula is quite small.
They are all just ants ruled by the Black Magician's oppressive and cruel rules.
In this Wu Tian and gloomy environment, if even one Black Wizard Apprentice treats them well, it's like a ray of Underground Human —warm and noticeable.
Even Saine himself didn't know that his unintentional act back then would have such a great impact and influence on these ordinary civilians.
In fact, Saine's kindness to these ordinary civilians was not limited to that one act of charity involving Blue Jaw Feather and blood.
During his three-year apprenticeship, Saine's bi-monthly academy missions sometimes involved contact with ordinary humans in City of Mozhsuobula.
Compared to others
The fact that the Black Wizard Apprentice had an extra layer of moral boundaries made Saine's personal charm stand out exceptionally well among the other Black Wizard Apprentice.
Therefore, when he was being harassed by these powerful Knight, the first to stand up for him, and the ones with the courage to do so, were actually these Underground Human.
Of course, a large part of this was also due to the fact that these Knight from the Surface World treated them quite gently and hardly harmed these weak civilians. →
This is a group of Knight who are reasonable and adhere to principles.
The voices of the underground civilians for Saine finally moved the long-silent Silver Armor Knight, who was the leader of this group of Knight.
He used his spear to stop the yellow-armored Knight from putting Magic Restriction Shackles on Saine.
He took off his silver helmet, revealing a bright bald head.
This is a bald, muscular man with a rather serious expression; his black pupils are intimidating.
"Not all Black Wizard Apprentice are assimilated and corrupted by those evil Black Magician; they are actually victims as well."
"We also saw some well-intentioned Black Wizard Apprentice underground this time, and a very few of them were even taken in as disciples by the Mage of the Dawn Holy Tower," said the bald Silver Armor Knight.
The Black Wizard Apprentice he referred to were mostly the low-level and Entry-Level Apprentice who had survived in Shadow Valley.
We won't go into detail about the Entry-Level Apprentice, but the few low-level apprentices chosen by the Holy Tower Magician are mostly quite young and haven't been completely corrupted by the dark atmosphere of the Black Wizard Academy.
Because they were more ambitious and independent than ordinary apprentices, several Academy Faction Holy Tower Magician couldn't resist their talent and took them in as disciples.
The official claim is that these Holy Tower Magician hope to guide these Black Wizard Apprentice back to the right path.
"Why are you helping the common people?" the Silver Armor Knight asked as he approached Saine.
The opponent's overwhelming strength and suffocating sense of oppression were enough to make anyone with ulterior motives give themselves away.
Saine is only in his early twenties, while the Silver Armor Knight is a ruthless man who has fought in Alien Plane for hundreds of years, so he trusts his judgment.
Faced with the Silver Armor Knight's question, Saine answered without any pretense, almost speaking from his own heart, "I don't think Saine them as commoners. He just thinks they are human, and I am human too."
Saine
His answer seemed to freeze the surrounding air for two seconds.
Immediately afterward, the Silver Armor Knight burst into laughter. Unlike the group of Level 1 Knight around him who had just mocked their companion Jike for being injured by the Black Wizard Apprentice, this Silver Armor Knight's laughter was more open and full of boldness.
He wanted to pat Saine on the shoulder, but on the one hand, Saine's height of 1.8 meters was relatively short to him.
On the other hand, he was worried that he would lose control of his strength and damage Saine.
In the end, he simply tucked the silver helmet under his arm, waved to Saine, and said, "You want to see the Holy Tower Magician? Come on, I'll take you to see Master Midiqi."
"Not only the Holy Tower Magician, but I am also very curious about that Yellow Sand World," said the Silver Armor Knight, and then took the lead into the city.
Seeing the Silver Armor Knight's back, Saine followed without hesitation.
Of course, before leaving, Saine did not forget to bow slightly to the group of ordinary humans from City of Mozhsuobula who were prostrating themselves on the ground, pleading for him.
It was at this moment that Saine realized his state of mind was somewhat different.
What is the true essence of magic? In the process of exploring magic, is it necessary to resort to any means necessary, even to the point of despising and disregarding life, like those Black Magician?
Saine was eager to ask his mentor Moxidu this question.
With the wisdom of his mentor Moxidu, he should be able to give Saine some guidance.
But where is Moxidu now?
The City of Mozhsuobula at this moment has changed drastically from what Saine remembered.
The once magnificent city is now nearly half reduced to ruins.
According to the Silver Armor Knight, their next step is to completely overthrow and bury the City of Mozhsuobula.
The center of this Underdark, Underground World is about to become a thing of the past.
"My name is Bakda, kid. If you successfully become Formal Magician in the future, you can come to the Earth Sword Knights' Hall in the Endless South Sea of Wizard World to find me. I have high hopes for you."
The Silver Armor Knight spoke as he led Saine to a stone building in the eastern part of the city, near the central core area.
