Background / History

The Twin Ghosts were originally twin sisters. During a tutoring session, Yang Feng's husband sexually assaulted them; they killed him in retaliation, then committed suicide one after the other in grief. Their vengeance should have prevented them from becoming such powerful vengeful spirits, leading Song Ren to suspect that Ah Jiu helped create them to satisfy a condition for extending his own lifespan. Ghost Messengers later describe them as having a “manufactured” scent. 95 96

They inhabited Room 2442 and initially targeted Wang Eryong. They hid when Ghost Messengers arrived to collect his soul, while Song Ren—lacking Yin Yang Eyes or sorcery at the time—could not locate them once they concealed themselves. 95 96

Song Ren later has Chen You and Ah Jiu lure them out through Qian Xiaohao, seals them in an artifact, and takes responsibility for helping them pass on. Instead, he becomes interested in raising them after acquiring Granny Wang's severed ghost hand, a valuable supplement for fierce ghosts. 103 198

Their initial intelligence is chaotic and governed by malevolent thoughts. Song Ren studies ghost-raising under Maoshan Ming and enlists Master Ikkyu to awaken their intelligence; after a month, he leaves Silent Village with the awakened twins. 201

Appearance

The twins are nearly identical pale women with long black hair, crimson eyes, and blood-thread manifestations. Their appearance becomes increasingly human-like as they absorb stronger spiritual substances. 428 499

They are intensely attached and obedient to Song Ren, addressing him as “Ren,” hugging him after major battles, and treating any perceived threat to him as someone who should be killed. Their intelligence remains somewhat childlike despite their extreme destructive capacity. 265 390 499 610
