Finding the Entrance
"Is this the place?"
Hong raised her eyebrows in dissatisfaction.
She had originally hoped to see some rare and spectacular sights.
However, the terrain, with its numerous ground depressions and collapsed stone pillars, really doesn't inspire much interest.
Linsey's opinion is quite different:
"You can't just look at the surface."
"Moreover, this is just ruins caused by the war, so it's impossible to expect to find anything here."
As they talked, Linsey led the way downstairs.
Splash—
The gravel began to slide underfoot.
From the highest point down to the bottom of the collapsed ground, there are many sharp-shaped stones, layered on top of each other, holding their positions in a fragile balance.
As a result, this balance was broken when Linsey and Red walked over.
One to ten yuan.
From ten to several hundred dollars.
Then it spread from hundreds of blocks to the entire slope.
The gravel rolled and flowed downwards on a massive scale, and Linsey and Red, who were walking on it, were unable to break free, even though they were able to maintain their balance thanks to their excellent abilities.
The landslide has started!
"What the hell!"
Red is very dissatisfied with being in this passive state.
After being pushed along by Shi Lang for more than ten meters, she could no longer bear it, so she grabbed Linsey beside her and jumped high into the air.
Amidst the deafening roar, the two landed on a nearby earthen slope.
Now look at the next room.
A large number of stones continued to tumble downwards with a violent roar, and the terrain above quickly bulged out, like a dent in the bottom of a toothpaste tube.
"It hasn't been going too well right from the start."
Linsey raised an eyebrow.
Hong didn't care about any of that and pulled Linsey downstairs:
"Linsey, where should we begin our search?"
Linsey immediately opened the map.
Due to wars many years ago, the number of underground caves in this basin is extremely small, and the passageways connecting them have collapsed and broken.
This applies to creatures that can actively burrow into the soil.
Even Devil Beast cannot survive easily.
Linsey shook her head slightly and informed her companion of what she had observed:
"The ground beneath the surface has almost completely collapsed and been compressed very firmly."
"We need to find those two races that operate underground."
"My suggestion is to search from the edge of this basin, and ideally find a passage directly into the Underground World."
Hong resolutely strode forward without hesitation, saying, "Then let's split up and search; that's the fastest way!"
"Wait a minute!" Linsey called out to the impatient Red, took a special torch out of her backpack and handed it to her. "Take this with you. It can keep burning in most situations and last for many days."
The two then agreed on a method of communication.
Linsey summoned a bat with her Bat Staff and made it follow Red.
If Linsey makes a discovery, he will simply recall the bat, and Red will just need to follow. Conversely, if Red makes a discovery, she will send the bat back to its master, and they will be able to find Linsey quickly as well.
Having made an agreement, the two went their separate ways, exploring forward at opposite ends of the basin.
Linsey's speed has an overwhelming advantage.
With the map's excellent Scouting Skill, he only needed to walk around the surface once. What lay below and whether there were any hidden passages nearby became immediately clear, eliminating the need for meticulous, inch-by-inch investigation.
The result was as expected.
The underground space beneath the basin is compressed tightly.
However, exploring outwards from the edge reveals scattered, expansive underground caves, some of which occasionally extend into the distance.
Unfortunately, Linsey did not see any markings indicating living things on it.
"It's probably the collapsed terrain that makes this place unsuitable for living."
"So the Eyeless People and the Lizard Dragon Clan have all moved to locations far away from here?"
Just as Linsey was speculating about the possibilities.
His gaze froze as he spotted a Red Dot on the map.
It was underground to the due east direction, in a cave almost level with the bottom of the basin, where the Red Marker remained motionless.
"Eyeless People? Lizard Dragon?"
Or some other underground creature?
Linsey immediately gave a command to the bats in the distance, instructing them to return.
The presence of biological activity suggests that this place is likely connected to other underground caves and is not a closed, isolated space.
Starting the exploration from here is clearly the best choice.
"..."
"That's you!"
Linsey was too lazy to look for a way in from the surroundings.
To be more direct, he took out his Meteorite Pickaxe and began digging a straight tunnel about one person's height towards his target location.
Although this place is a battlefield remnant, it is essentially just an ordinary piece of land.
Meteorite Pickaxe can easily deal with targets made of this material.
Accompanied by clanging sounds.
A straight passage stretched outwards at a visible speed, and soon arrived at the cave entrance.
Linsey stared at her location on the map.
"It should be only about half a meter away from this cave..."
He did not immediately dig through the tunnel.
Instead, he cautiously pressed his ear against the earthen wall, listening to the sounds coming from the other side.
whoosh—
hiss...
"A slight breeze, and some kind of panting?"
Having recently fought the Dark Tide Water Lizard underground, Linsey is quite familiar with the lizard's activities underground.
The sounds coming from next door were very similar to this.
"So I've found the Lizard Dragon's head?"
Linsey was not surprised but rather pleased.
In his view, the Lizard Dragon are the most likely species to have a connection with the Dragon Beast, and starting with this species is likely to speed up the exploration process.
Thinking of this, Linsey raised the Meteorite Pickaxe high.
"Then give it to me..."
Boom! Suddenly, a loud noise came from the earthen wall in front.
Before Linsey's Meteorite Pickaxe could even fall, the earthen wall suddenly shattered, and a tremendous force slammed into him.
"Ah?"
As she was thrown backward by the impact, Linsey's expression quickly shifted from bewilderment to composure.
The other side must have heard the sound of him digging the tunnel! This guy probably sensed the danger, so he launched an attack the moment Linsey was about to break through the wall.
Thump—thump—smack!
Linsey was completely disoriented in the tunnel she had dug herself.
Finally, after a long and difficult journey, he quickly stood up, first stuffing the Meteorite Pickaxe into his bag before taking out his own weapon.
"Roar--"
The fierce roar came almost simultaneously, accompanied by a foul, putrid stench.
Linsey felt dizzy as soon as she smelled it.
"It's poisonous too!?"
Linsey shook her head violently, and the dizziness caused by the toxins completely disappeared.
This toxin might have caused him considerable trouble in the past, but now, with the toxin resistance provided by the Forest Brooch, Linsey doesn't even need to drink Antidote Potion to deal with it.
By simply pushing through, I completely overcame my negative state.
"It's poison and lizards."
With a 'snap', Linsey flicked the whip in her hand, and flames and frost wrapped around it at the same time.
"Could it be one of those guys again?"
Linsey looked ahead with a wry smile.
Sure enough, deep in the tunnel opposite, a pair of yellowish-brown snake eyes were staring at him.
