Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Third Stage Awakened 176 Reached the Third Stage within roughly a month of training with Linsey; demonstrated a technique that produces tangible spear afterimages. 176

Background

Red was discovered by Linsey in the Black Mountain World with no memories of her identity or location. She initially spoke the language of magical beasts and asked whether she should call Linsey “Father.” Her red eyes retained an unusually forceful, instinctive will even through her amnesia. 170

After Linsey explained that humans used Common Language, she chose the name Red, drawing it from the color of her eyes and dress. She mastered Common Language in a single day, deciding that, as a human, she should adapt to the present era rather than continue using beast tongue. 173

Red’s condition is abnormal even among Awakened. She revived as a Source Material Lost One, developing an entirely new soul and her own Source Material after Linsey rescued her. The ancient consciousness belonging to her original body later awakened, creating a struggle for control between Red’s new self and the past identity known as the Extinction Crown. 244

Red ultimately suppressed the old soul rather than being replaced by it. The struggle confirmed that her art is the Slaughter Path and granted her fragments of the Extinction Crown’s memories. 245

Appearance

Red is a black-haired young woman with flame-like, fire-zircon red eyes. Her gaze is repeatedly described as carrying an intense, unwavering will. 170 191

  • Wears a red dress, from which she partly derived her name. 173
  • Has ruby-like red eyes that can appear cold and murderous in battle. 181 191
  • Fights with a Meteorite Spear, often surrounded by red flames. 180 181
  • Her eyes possess sufficient power to kill an Awakened bandit with a glance. 276

Personality

Red is direct, stubborn, and intensely unwilling to accept limits imposed on her. When Linsey explains that some wishes cannot be fulfilled, she answers that she wants everything to go according to her wishes; she chooses the War path because preparing to defeat the Dragon Beast matters more to her than accepting helplessness. 174

She has a fierce contempt for submission and distrusts those who preserve themselves through betrayal. The Root Elder’s former service to the Dragon Beast particularly angers her, and she initially wants to kill it rather than hear its information. She nevertheless accepts Linsey’s strategic reasoning when it serves their shared goal. 181 182

Despite her aggressive temperament, Red is deeply protective of Linsey. She immediately intervenes when he is ambushed, attacks the Fairy Girl while Linsey is incapacitated, and attempts to carry him to safety when the Tree Mother is summoned. 177 191

Her interactions with Linsey also reveal a playful, demanding side: she complains openly about food, insists on better equipment after returning a cold-resistance pendant, and teases Linsey when a Revivalist mistakes him for her subordinate. 178 176 243

Abilities & Skills

Rapid Learning and Residual Combat Instincts

Red learns spoken language, Awakened knowledge, and spear techniques at an extraordinary rate. Linsey suspects that her immediate grasp of spear fighting reflects skills retained from before her memory loss. 173 174

  • Mastered Common Language within a day. 173
  • Quickly learned Linsey’s War-path spear techniques. 174
  • Developed strong hunting and battlefield reflexes during a month of travel and training. 176 177

War Skill: Advantage Strike

Red chose the War path as her first formal cultivation route and learned Advantage Strike from Linsey. 174

  • The skill was acquired rapidly despite her lack of memories. 174
  • Her War-path training centers on spear combat and direct engagement. 174 176

Spear Afterimages

By the time she reached the Third Stage, Red could create tangible afterimages through her spear technique. Linsey found the technique difficult to counter. 176

  • Can split spear attacks into multiple apparent strikes. 176
  • Used spear afterimages to anticipate and strike at the Fairy Girl’s teleportation position. 192

Slaughter Path

Red’s true art is the Slaughter Path, revealed after she defeated the ancient soul contesting her body. Its future advancement is associated with extreme destructive power. 245

  • Red believes that further advancement through the Slaughter Path would let her surpass even Starshine Forest’s Tree Mother. 245
  • Her former identity, the Extinction Crown, was an army leader who fought at the peak of the Eighth Stage. 245
  • Her original power was stolen by the Dragon Beast; the Revivalists believed she could reclaim it by devouring the beast after its advancement. 243

Source Material Compatibility

Red possesses her own Source Material as the new soul born after her revival, but this coexistence with the ancient Extinction Crown consciousness caused a dangerous internal conflict. 244

  • She can interact with and control Source Material with unusual aptitude. 174
  • Contact with the First Stone Pillar caused intense pain and fragmented memories, including a vision of white light. 209
  • Attempts to recover certain memories can incapacitate her or cause severe pain. 226
  • The ancient soul cannot fully reclaim control without recovering its former Source Material. 245

Equipment

  • Meteorite Spear — Red’s primary weapon; its point can be wreathed in red flame, and she uses it for thrown attacks as well as close combat. 180 181 191
  • Flower Fairy Anklet — Crafted by Linsey to save Red after the Fairy Girl poisoned her; it can detoxify once every 24 hours. 193

Relationships

  • Linsey — Traveling companion, teacher, and closest partner. He taught her language and Awakened knowledge, while she repeatedly protects him in battle. 173 191 245
  • Dragon Beast — Primary enemy and possessor of Red’s stolen former power. It attempted to keep her sealed away and prevent her return to Black Mountain. 211 243 247
  • Dark Abyss — Former subordinate of the Extinction Crown. He sought to restore her old power, but became enraged upon realizing Red’s current soul differed from the one he served. 243 260
  • Righteous Law Sword — The Righteous Walker who killed Red’s former self in Crystal Valley during their final battle. 230 245
  • Fairy Girl — Dragon Beast envoy who poisoned Red and used Linsey as leverage during their fight in Starshine Forest. 191 192
