Uncertain Mediator
Damn it!
"If I had known I would run into this kind of trouble, I would have been better off becoming a messenger!"
In a corner of the Icebound City, the Bo Gong is rapidly retreating.
Awakened beings from Starhorn City possess abilities derived from the core concept of 'communication'. This includes communication between messengers and the outside world; communication between mediators and intelligent beings; and even the self-communication of thinkers.
They all share commonalities in their essence, but their specific tendencies differ.
The mediator's ability lies in negotiation and assistance.
Within a team, they can communicate well with their partners, or use their ability to read people's expressions and limited mind-reading skills, as well as their ability to guide emotions, to deal with intelligent beings.
But fighting alone is not something they are good at.
After being torn apart by the wind and carried through the darkness to the edge of the Icebound City, Bo Gong was extremely unlucky and was immediately surrounded by three Revivalist.
These Revivalist, even the weakest of them, are at least in Fourth Stage.
Bo Gong did everything in its power to control a Fifth Stage Revivalist, using him to hold off the other enemies.
He then staggered backward, carrying almost all of his source Essence.
A few minutes passed.
Before the Bo Gong stood a glacier exuding a chill.
He knew how dangerous this thing was, and of course he dared not approach. But when he looked back, the twisted figure of the Revivalist was already appearing on the city streets! "They caught up so quickly!"
Bo Gong's pupils contracted.
The mediator's ability allows him to see through people's hearts, and even if the other party is Revivalist, they cannot escape this ability.
"They wanted to mock me before killing me."
"The Revivalist was just restrained... has had his neck snapped and thrown aside!"
Bo Gong kept his feet on the ground while clenching his fists.
He didn't complain much about Linsey and Red's actions, which dragged him into danger.
After all, without the support of these two, Bo Gong and his companions would probably have lost their lives in the siege of the Revivalist.
However, the current situation...
And the helplessness stemming from a lack of power truly enveloped the mediator's heart.
With a furrowed brow, he ran along the glacier wall toward the other side of the city.
He murmured unconsciously:
"Damn it, if I were in Sixth Stage..."
The sound from Bo Gong suddenly stopped.
If his skills advance to the Sixth Stage, the Mediator's powerful control will indeed be able to manipulate these Revivalist.
But this power.
They will also be detected by the Dark Abyss below and the Dragon Beast on the Black Mountain above.
Faced with two enemies at Seventh Stage—
"When I set off, didn't that astrologer say that I would live for many more years?"
"This prediction is way too inaccurate!"
Complaints were uttered during the escape from Bo Gong.
Suddenly, a figure darted out from the city wall next door.
He stood directly in front of the mediator, a twisted smile spreading across his fleshy face:
"Human, where do you want to go?"
"Living Corpse..."
Bo Gong's expression changed, and he immediately stopped.
He gripped his weapon tightly, while subtly rubbing the ring on his right middle finger.
Among them is a radiant fire of Ancestor Spirit Believer.
This thing can definitely deal massive damage to enemies in the Fifth Stage, but it's also his last trump card.
Now... should we use it here?
"Human, are you a mediator?"
Just then, the Revivalist had stopped the Bo Gong spoke up.
Instead of launching an attack immediately, he observed the humans before him with great interest. "I remember your abilities, mind reading and mind interference."
"We welcome outstanding talents like you!"
"If you are willing to surrender, then the end result will not be a mindless corpse, lying forever in the cold darkness."
"..."
Bo Gong's resolve inevitably wavered.
First, he didn't want to die; this is a common instinct for all living beings, and no one can avoid it.
The second story comes from the Revivalist in front of me.
Through the mediator's psychological observation, he could confirm that the other party was different from the previous Revivalist; they hadn't deceived or tricked him, but genuinely wanted him to join their faction! If he could guarantee that...
Thud! Suddenly, the Revivalist was blocking the way in front of the Bo Gong fell to the ground.
With a heart full of inner turmoil, Bo Gong turned his head and saw a familiar figure quietly walking out from the city next door.
"Mr. Linsey?!"
The inner turmoil in Bo Gong's heart vanished.
If he had a choice, he certainly wouldn't want to betray humanity! The mediator immediately rushed towards Linsey, as if grasping at a last straw, his voice trembling with excitement:
"It's so great that you're nearby too!"
"This isn't the place to talk." Without another word, Linsey knocked a hole in the ground. "Let's go down first and then we can talk about other things."
Bo Gong jumped into the tunnel without hesitation.
Before leaving the ground, his last glance fell on Linsey, who was drawing back the bowstring once again.
The flaming arrows set the Revivalist corpses ablaze on the ground.
The other arrows were fired at the pursuing Living Corpse in the distance, followed by a painful roar.
"..."
A few minutes later.
Linsey jumped into the tunnel and reached up to fill in the hole above her head.
In an instant, complete darkness enveloped the surroundings, Bo Gong felt a strange sense of relief, even finding the darkness reassuring! Whew—
Torches were lit in the pitch-black ground.
Bo Gong saw Linsey's figure. The young man, whose profession was unknown, remained unwavering in his expression and continued digging the road with determined movements.
Bo Gong watched Linsey's meticulous expression.
The mediator's Essence was almost depleted, rendering them unable to read the other party's thoughts, but they could still understand the other party's choice from this expression.
He couldn't help but ask to confirm:
"Mr. Linsey, I think we should reconsider our strategy!"
"A battle between two Seventh Stage powerhouses Non-Self can't interfere with. Going there would only be courting death."
As Linsey dug the tunnel, he replied firmly, "If we stay here and do nothing, we'll have no way out after they decide the winner."
"Or, Mr. Bo Gong, do you have a way for us to escape?"
The mediator was momentarily speechless. "I..."
His instinct to seek safety made him want to escape danger.
But as Linsey said, this method of stalling for time ultimately led to being hunted down by a Seventh Stage powerhouse.
"Mr. Bo Gong, have you read the biographies of those legendary heroes?"
Linsey suddenly asked.
Bo Gong racked his brains but couldn't recall any biography in the Star Era Calendar that mentioned Fifth Stage Awakened being defeating Seventh Stage Awakened being.
That's ancient mythology.
"Mr. Linsey, are you telling me a myth?"
Linsey did not answer directly:
"On the road ahead."
"The courage to challenge despair is sometimes the most crucial element."
Bo Gong lowered his gaze and shook his head slightly. "How can we, weak and ordinary people, be compared with those mythical heroes?"
"..."
Linsey did not answer.
He continued swinging his Meteorite Pickaxe while surveying his surroundings on the map.
The change happened faster than expected! Just a few minutes later, a green dot appeared from the glacier and began to approach their location!
"Inside the glacier?"
Linsey had doubts, but she immediately dug out an upward slope.
When the earth and rocks on the ground of the Icebound City were lifted, he saw the other person's figure and asked in utter surprise, "Oma?"
"How did you get here from here!"
