Buzz!
The White Bone Heavenly Sha Sword hovered before Su Jie. Not a drop of blood stained its blade, as though the killing and beheading from moments ago had been nothing more than an illusion.
The Mande United Army's pupils shook violently. Their mouths hung open as they watched Su Jie standing there, a strange flying sword spinning rapidly before him. In the blink of an eye, it had severed the necks of more than a dozen comrades.
The bizarre and terrifying sight left a great many soldiers with icy hands and feet. For a moment, all kinds of superstitious legends resurfaced in their minds.
Su Jie gently stroked the White Bone Heavenly Sha Sword and chuckled. "Go. Kill them all."
Whoosh!
The White Bone Heavenly Sha Sword trembled and shot away, transforming into a silver line of death as it severed the necks of soldiers who were still dazed and helpless.
The flying sword was simply too fast—far too fast. Ordinary eyes could barely track it.
All they saw was the flying sword passing through, while many soldiers had no time to react before their heads dropped from their necks with a thud.
The thick stench of blood spread through the air. In barely a dozen seconds, large numbers of soldiers had died beneath the White Bone Heavenly Sha Sword.
"Open fire! Open fire on that monster!"
Some soldiers finally reacted and shouted a warning. Some raised their rifles and aimed at Su Jie, while others tried to fire at the White Bone Heavenly Sha Sword.
Every bullet aimed at the White Bone Heavenly Sha Sword missed. As for the bullets fired at Su Jie, the Thousand-Hand Centipede emerged from his sleeve and transformed into a shield of flesh, blocking them in front of him. The bullets pinged and ricocheted off its shell, leaving behind only faint white marks.
These armies, raised on poisonous funds, were still extremely fierce. When some soldiers saw that bullets were useless, they hoisted rocket launchers, aimed at the Thousand-Hand Centipede, and pulled the triggers.
Boom!
The fireball produced by the rocket made the Thousand-Hand Centipede cry out twice, and some cracks appeared in its shell from the shock.
The heavy autocannon on an infantry fighting vehicle turned. Scorching flames belched two meters into the air, and 30-millimeter armor-piercing incendiary rounds came flying, boring through the Thousand-Hand Centipede's shell as green insect blood flowed out.
Fortunately, the Thousand-Hand Centipede possessed astonishing regenerative abilities. The injured parts transformed into small centipedes and peeled away, while the wounds healed at incredible speed.
"It works! It fears rocket launchers and autocannons! Hurry, open fire and blow it to pieces!"
The soldiers shouted excitedly, seeing hope as more heavy weapons concentrated their fire.
"Looks like it still can't withstand heavy firepower head-on."
Su Jie tested the Thousand-Hand Centipede's defensive capabilities. These were only ordinary heavy weapons, after all.
If they used a tank's armor-piercing shells or missiles, the Thousand-Hand Centipede at its current stage definitely would not be able to withstand them.
"Forget it. I'll deal with them first."
After determining the Thousand-Hand Centipede's defensive limit against modern heavy firepower, Su Jie changed his mind and circulated the Azure Rainbow Sword Art with all his strength.
The White Bone Heavenly Sha Sword came roaring over, its flying speed surging.
Several soldiers carrying rocket launchers saw a blur before their eyes before the flying sword cut them in half at the waist.
The flying sword did not slow down. It pierced through the armor of an infantry fighting vehicle, killed everyone inside, and emerged through the roof.
Suddenly, an explosive roar rang out in the sky.
A missile flew over from afar and struck the White Bone Heavenly Sha Sword's position, kicking up a massive fireball.
The soldiers nearby were not spared either. The enormous shock wave swept over them and knocked down a large swath, while the violent explosion plunged the entire battlefield into silence.
Then the sound returned. The White Bone Heavenly Sha Sword flew unharmed from the smoke and flew toward the armed helicopter that had attacked it moments ago.
The armed helicopter that had flown in from behind had just opened its rocket pods when a flash of silver arrived in an instant, severing its rotors in midair.
"Going down! Going down! The aircraft has lost control!"
The two pilots were terrified. They frantically yanked the controls, trying to make the helicopter spiral down for a landing.
Unfortunately, it was all futile. The helicopter spun rapidly and erratically, tossing them around inside the cockpit. It lost all control and exploded into a ball of fire upon hitting the ground.
After eliminating several enormous threats, the White Bone Heavenly Sha Sword became even more unrestrained.
One military vehicle after another was pierced by the flying sword. Blood flowed freely, dyeing the earth red.
The soldiers armed with light weapons suffered even worse. Wherever the flying sword passed, soldiers—whether standing or lying prone—were uniformly cut in half at the waist.
Those who did not die immediately could only drag their lower halves across the ground. Their endless screams were enough to make anyone's heart tremble with terror.
"My waist! My waist's broken! Somebody come save me!"
"Wuwu, that guy isn't human! I want to go home! I want to go home!"
"We angered the gods! This is their punishment! Everyone, kneel with me and pray for the gods' forgiveness!"
The Mande United Army's morale suddenly collapsed. They said that when an army was defeated, it fell like a mountain. Under the flying sword's slaughter, the Mande United Army, which had still possessed the courage to resist moments ago, now screamed in terror. Every thought of resistance vanished, and they knew only to abandon their weapons and flee in all directions.
Su Jie patted the Thousand-Hand Centipede and calmly issued an order. "Don't let a single one escape."
Su Jie was never going to let them go. Only the dead could keep secrets. Every witness here today had to be wiped out completely.
The Thousand-Hand Centipede hissed. One pale corpse hand after another tore free from its body and chased after the fleeing soldiers. The corpse hands crawled onto their bodies and twisted their necks apart.
At the same time, soldiers were accurately cut down one after another by the flying sword. Even when they tried to throw smoke grenades and disrupt the flying sword's vision, it was useless.
Soldiers died every minute and every second. The entire Mande United Army had become a slaughterhouse, vanishing at a horrifying speed.
Lu Wenbo had been waiting for Su Jie to be captured. When he heard the sound of gunfire, he initially paid it no mind, assuming that Su Jie had merely brought some men to resist.
But as one enormous explosion after another rang out, he personally witnessed one of his armed helicopters crash and explode nearby.
"What happened? What on earth happened?"
Lu Wenbo grabbed a staff officer, demanding an answer.
"Reporting to the general, the soldiers say they've encountered something nonhuman. The owner of Jieko Company is... is a monster!"
The staff officer stammered, only to be slapped to the ground by Lu Wenbo.
"I don't have time for your jokes! Did the Jieko Company Security Department come here? Where did he get the weapons?"
Lu Wenbo's face twisted viciously. He did not believe the staff officer's nonsense. No normal person would.
He was certain that Jieko Company had secretly purchased weapons, armed those peasants, and launched an attack on his Mande United Army.
Crack!
Just as Lu Wenbo thought this, the sky suddenly darkened, as though something had blocked out the sunlight.
Lu Wenbo raised his head and saw a scene he would never forget for the rest of his life.
A gigantic centipede nearly ten meters long, hideously terrifying, loomed over his head. Its cold, merciless insect eyes turned, making the hair all over his body stand on end and stopping his breath.
"Oh, you must be General Lu. I'm the owner of Jieko Company. Didn't you ask me to come see you? I hope I haven't arrived late."
Su Jie stood atop the Thousand-Hand Centipede's head, looking down at Lu Wenbo from above and wearing a benevolent smile.
If one could ignore the burning armored vehicles behind Su Jie, the severed limbs scattered across the ground, and the soldiers screaming as they slowly died, that smile could indeed have been called harmless to both humans and animals.
