Background / History

The Thousand-Hand Centipede is Su Jie's life-bound Gu worm. It began as an unranked, finger-length poisonous creature and grew under his cultivation into an arm-length centipede with a red-and-black body and pale human-like hands beneath its abdomen. It is nocturnal, venomous, and associated with damp, dark environments 1.

Su Jie rapidly advanced its early growth by supplying Blue Star poisonous insects in enormous quantities. Its first refinement came after consuming ten thousand scorpions; later refinements required increasingly costly supplies of snakes, spiders, graded Gu worms, spirit stones, and eventually Chaos creature corpses 5 31 97 900.

As its grade rose, the centipede became more than a Gu worm. Its eighth and ninth refinements gave it the traits of a Great Dao Chaos creature, allowing its body to manifest as substances and energies such as magma, frost, water, lightning, metal, and Great Dao Purple Qi 585 765. After becoming a Ten-turn Golden Gu, it fully transformed into a Chaos creature and drew strength from surrounding Chaos energy 900 901.

The Thousand-Hand Centipede's appearance changes drastically with each refinement, but it consistently retains a segmented insect body, a ferocious maw, and numerous pale, human-like corpse hands beneath its abdomen.

It is gluttonous, aggressive toward enemies and prey, and highly competitive. After reaching the eighth refinement, it openly challenged Han Ruyan, seemingly eager to prove its newly gained strength 585. It also responds to praise and recognition from Su Jie 766.
